London (Marylebone) next week. Got tickets for Interstellar with live orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. Plenty of pubs, got a nice dinner booked. One or two touristy items for the missus.

Not the most exciting itinerary on paper, but after a bumpy couple of years for her, it's a destination she likes, with a favored hotel and lots of familiarity. Very much looking forward to it.

Maybe check out the Stag's Head for next Friday's match, if that's still the preferred destination?

Hans zimmer? I’d love to go and see them live, I might go to Leeds back end of the year,

Dubrovnik in 2 weeks for a few days any recommendations much appreciated thanks

Came back from Dubrovnik a week ago. I think they class 1st April as start of the season so probably be a few more options for you in terms of what's open, boat trips and the cable car should be open too.

I'd say walking the walls is over-priced on its own, but if you get a Dubrovnik Pass it covers the walls and all local transport, so we found it decent value.

I'm rubbish at reviewing restaurants, but we ate at Taj Mahal (bosnian food) expensive but was a nice meal.

Went in a few bars for single drinks really. Dubrovnik beer factory in Old Town looked decent but was only half stocked and had no draft, Irish Pub at Gaffe had TVs for any football watching but not very big, Buza bar was a stunning location if weather is nice but again was only half open for me, and expensive (cash only and only sold bottled beer), Cave Bar in Lapad was pretty cool.

Went to Cavtat (Bus not included in Dubrovnik pass), looked great but very few things open lol

Beautiful place though.

Well what an absolute shambles the EU are making of the EES rollout.

Q the “well out is out etc…” but that doesn’t account for the way this is being handled.

Looked at direct flights to the UK, anywhere from 6k to over 7k (canadian $) for your basic flight with carryon and 1 checked bag (for a family of 4) in August.

Of course time of day matters hence looking for flights and how far out etc.

I can fly to the Caribbean for that for a week of doing **** all with unlimited food and drink essentially.

I would have to rent a car in England and my spend would be a lot higher with buying food, petrol, shopping etc. Some of it would be offset staying at my brothers place but I dont want to spend 2 weeks in freaking Chesterfield lol.

take a trip to Mostar in Bosnia and stop off at the waterfalls, we did a semi private tour and well worth it. Incredibly cheap over there (1 euro for ice cream) but Mostar is a beautiful place. I picked up a repicia Mostar FC shirt!

Yikes.

Me and a few mates went over to Toronto for a wedding early last September and we all paid less than £500 for a return with a checked bag.

Have you been to Trastavere before? Just outside of the centre of Rome and if you go in the evening its brilliant.

Took your advice and booked a hotel just over the river from Trastavere.

My only nervousness was that I've booked through Stayforlong because it came up £100 cheaper and some of their reviews have bookings going missing.......

4-5 days be a stretch. But it’s definitely worth visiting as you have the old town, the beach and the aquarium areas and that’s three distinct areas. Good food. Not too expensive. I don’t think it’s far off ideal city break category

stayed near the Mestalla, so can’t speak for city centre hotels

Taking the family there next month, just booked the stadium tour with my eldest.

Any food or drink spots you recommend?

I'll have a look. Most of my drink spots will be craft beer though.

The market in the centre is superb. One of the best meals we had was just a random lunch deal.

Planning on ticking off the Mestalla whilst I can myself.

Flying to Florence tomorrow. Does anyone have any recommendations or good day trips? Cheers

Great views from over the river, up the hill. You can walk it.

Go early and go up the Duomo,  its a narrow staircase, wouldn't fancy it mid day and busy.

Basically, walk everywhere, soak in the culture, try the Bistecca and wine.

Unfortunately Im having to cancel the holiday.

My fragile neck and shoulder have decided to give up on me and I'm out of action for 6 weeks minimum.

The joys of sitting in front of a computer screen for 35 years taking it's toll on my posture.

This is repeating a lot I've posted on this thread but:

See - museo di san Marco, especially early in the morning.

Eat - il pizzaiolo is the best pizza in the city. Covered market used to have great food but it's probably very touristy now. I used to go loads to Benvenuto, not sure if it's still good.

Drink - around Piazza santo spirito and the quieter parts over the arno have some good bars. Some good places to eat round Santo spirito too.

Day trips - Siena is absolutely full but still a beautiful city. Lucca is quite nice. Fiesole and Settignano two nice villages with great views of Florence.

Sorry to hear that, speedy recovery fella
