Guest Col city fan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I would go with a 4-4-2 for this one and really get at em. Albrighton on one wing, Knocky on another. The midfield 2 mix and match.. And I'd start with Nuge just playing in behind Ulloa. That said, I still think we must strengthen. Schlupp is in the best form I've seen him in and Mahrez missing is a big loss.
Claridge Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I'm genuinely delighted we don't have an international break interrupting us, the confidence has clearly taken a huge boost and it's good to see that we didn't necessarily need Mahrez and Schlupp to remain creative. Villa are likely to be a different proposition to Newcastle based on their performance today, but the game is still winnable. They're winless since playing us on the 7th December and have only scored one goal since that game, so they're not exactly in great form themselves of late. If we play with confidence and get at them from the outset, we'll win. 1-0 Leicester, Nugent to score it. Not to let one in and nugent to score?that could be some double
AKCJ Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Biggest game of the season so far for me. Simply must win this one.
ronnup Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Nice to have some positivity going into it. Can't see Lawrence getting a start in such a massive game and it'd be very harsh on Tony.

I agree.. Having gotten over my dismal mood, off the back of not winning in 13 games, it's the New Year, we look better and I still believe we can turn it around. I think it's stick or twist time somewhat. I'd like to see us get one or two fresh faces in and have a real good crack.

les-tah Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Anyone who says 442 obviously dint watch the first game against villa! We were absolutely dominated. They play a formation that will control the game v 2 centre mids.

And I think we will. I don't think the game will look the same this time around.

Diamond is terrible and our 210 odd minutes playing 4-5-1 has yielded 0 goals. We are actually looking reasonable and picking up some results to go with if for once lets not fck around with a working formula for the sake of it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 We don't actually play 4-4-2 when Nugent plays We do and we don't I say 4-4-2 to simplify things to be completley accurate you'd probably have to call it a 4-4-1-1

I agree with you 100% Villa at home wouldn't be a game I'd be wanting to play by packing our midfield in some hope of not conceding. Let's get two up front, get at em and win the game with some pace and finishing.

Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Disturbing amount of people ready to bin off Ben Hamer for a 42 year old goal keeper.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Disturbing amount of people ready to bin off Ben Hamer for a 42 year old goal keeper. Gosh..that's two in a row.. The most important thing is that I don't think Pearson will. Hamer has done not much wrong (at fault in part for the free kick, granted). I think he'll start.
Raj Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Get a room you two this love is gettin silly!!! Villa are crap-Lets destroy them with attack attack attack attack attack!!!! p.s Hamer has been more than an adequate replacement for Kasper . Schwarzer is great cover though... P.s Do we lose mahrez n schlupp now?

Sharpe's Fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I would start Albrighton and Lawrence, I thought Knockaert was poor in the cup and is a right sided player anyway. Level pegging in centre midfield at the moment, all have had good games against Spurs, Hull and Gerrardpool.
MC Prussian Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Hamer Simpson Moore Morgan De Laet Albrighton Drinkwater James Lawrence Nugent Vardy Subs: Schwarzer, Konchesky, Wasilewski, Cambiasso, Hammond, Knockaert, Ulloa This all provided we haven't signed anyone else apart from Schwarzer by then. But even if additional reinforcements should've been brought in before the Villa game (Defoe? Lennon?), I highly doubt they'd be already ready to feature for us.
