fuchsntf Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Bell out, but who in? Bairstow, or Rashid to play as a spin allrounder, spinners will always need to bowl, and bat, lets see if we can get him to a batting avg 36, with the odd 100, but in form to reach the half century occassionally.Give our pacemen and captain the choice to rotate and rest them more, enabling them to bowl with more umphhh, in shorter spells. 4-5 over spells instead of 8-12 on the trott.Meaning also if a second spinner is really not needed, we have a better choice of Either, Bairstow, Moen, Rashid, depending on batting form. Thats the difference England just doesnt do, in comparison with India or Australia, England have names in place with potential over 5-6 years, where india and aussies, KNOW they can pick their fringe players, because they have 4-5 good tests behind them.Again England take the wrong descision, for the defensive political reasons, not for aggressive cricketing reasons.
Guest MattP Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Bell out, but who in? Bit premature, he got out to absolute beauty as well. Bairstow would have to be the obvious choice though at the minute with the scores he is making. Can't believe this pitch, I know we want to negate Mitchell Johnson but it's often bouncer twice before it hit's the keeper on the first day.
fuchsntf Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 But we know, 2nd innings, Bell becomes high scorer, with a silly 60-80, or even 100+ .....then with the rest failing. We need a top 6 who we can consistently get 3-4 to reach consistently 50s, when the 2-3 get 80s-100+. 1 always failing under 20... ok, ....but 20,6,1,17,62, consistently is poor.Root and a Ballance only, or Cooke and Bell doing their part in single innings just aint good enough, we need from top 6 consistency, playing good to avg more often. Aussies do it.!!!!
Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Hahah dreadful review there. It was always going to be pitching outside leg from that delivery angle with little to no turn.
EastAnglianFox Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Ballance has not got a clue how to play Johnson has he. Be better swinging a bat at it surely.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Been really impressed with England's running intent today.

Wouldn't say it was premature when he's been in this form for quite a while now. Still back him to get through it though, I imagine he's hugely important in the dressing room for the new lads aswell.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 1st day at Edgbaston can't come quick enough. Can't wait to give these Aussie helmets some dog's abuse.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Haddin must be chuffed to bits with that Root century.
Corky Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Haddin must be chuffed to bits with that Root century. He's also had 8 byes against his name that two keepers wouldn't reach Tough day.
BoyJones Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Stokes throws his wicket away. His job was to stay in tonight and see off the new ball. So frustrating when they don't think.

TheSomersetFox Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Huge shame losing Buttler at the end, great day's cricket though. Feels about even at the moment with us losing those late-ish wickets. See how we bowl on this
Voll Blau Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Great to see Buttler and Ali take it to them straight away after losing two big wickets. I'm only going off what I saw on the highlights, but great to see that attitude prevailing.
ramboacdc Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 onto day 2. hopefully ali ticks us over to 400 before the change of innings at lunch.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 I know Ali didn't play very well against the Windies but that was a brilliant knock for a number 8.
AKCJ Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 I'd have taken 430 this time yesterday! Good knock from Ali and Broad has started like a train. Lets start kocking some wickets over
foxfanazer Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 Making some small but tidy profit on in play so far, hope it continues
