A fox for life Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Couldn't find one which is surprising. One question day 5 tickets at trent are for sale still but what happens to your money if there is no play? Also amazing win for the first test
Osavo Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'm pretty sure you don't get your money back on fifth day tickets if there is no play, that's the risk you take as the tickets are much cheaper. Also I think most of the ashes chat is in the 'Cricket 2015' thread.

Also amazing win for the first test Depends on the county I think. I swear Glamorgan refunded all 5 day tickets for this test.
Voll Blau Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Yeah, think it's up to the individual venue. Some hold your money in credit towards future tickets I think? Gambled on fifth day tickets for Edgbaston. Well worth a punt for £20.
Finnegan Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Genuine question, not winding anyone up, is this a fair indicator of what to expect for the series or is it a bit of a freak result given the Australian famed pace attack seemed disastrously ill suited to a wicket dubbed poor by the press?
Swarles Barkley Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Genuine question, not winding anyone up, is this a fair indicator of what to expect for the series or is it a bit of a freak result given the Australian famed pace attack seemed disastrously ill suited to a wicket dubbed poor by the press? Im going to be honest, I was very suprised over the amount of people who favoured the aussies at the start of the series. Apart from smith, clarke and johnson/starc no one else fears me from their squad. I reckon they will improve but not drastically and England should be more than favourites to win back the ashes

I think the England squad are well up for it. Haven't seen much emotion from the Aussies yet. The difference has been getting Smith and Clarke out early.

I feel the Australians have been slightly hyped up and overrated. They've only won 4 out of the last 17 away tests since the start of 2013. Ryan Harris was also their best bowler.
Voll Blau Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Interesting piece on Saturday's viewing figures. Time to bring home Tests back to terrestrial TV I feel... http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2015/jul/12/ashes-sky-england-australia-ecb-tv
fuchsntf Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Oz Bowlers, were not as deadly as legends had made them...but. lyon- had a 4, Starc had a 5ver, Johnson 2nd innings better. They bowled us out for 289 2nd innings. Smith, Clarke, Marsh (if picked) and a couple of others, will come good as the series developes. Its not worth going over the top.England have great potential, not only Root or Stokes, but others will up their game, by a few % more .So I do see us regaining the Ashes, but that was before a ball was bowled. Australians being hurt is press talk, but they will fight back, simply because they are class, and have top players, that will score more runs, and if they bowl just 2% better they will be worrying us. The big question, can we as a unit show consistency as individuals. I see Ballance, Cooke, Butler, and Bell up their game more. Bowling, can Anderson and Broad hold those good lengths consistency, if so the other bowlers will complete the job. To win back the Ashes, we still need to beat the no1 team, so dont underestimate what we need to do .

If Johnson has a bit of a harder pitch where he can get some decent bounce he will trouble us, especially those who can't play the short ball like Ballance. I think there will be some good individual battles going on throughout the series like Broad vs. Clarke. I can see it being close but England edging it 2-1.
fuchsntf Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Looks like it will be 5-0. We would do, but the British weather will kill that idea w h en we are 3-0 up
Guest MattP Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Extremely impressive opening, great start and the Aussies look rattled, if Starc has fitness problems that's a hell of a reliance on Mitchell Johnson. Cook's best game as captain by a mile as well, he was sensational in his bowling changes and field placings. Same pitch again this week.

I note you are still in mourning and giving the LCFC forum a wide berth!
Guest MattP Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I note you are still in mourning and giving the LCFC forum a wide berth! I'm absolutely gutted still, I can't even think about next season. I'm almost trying to just ignore it all now.
Wymsey Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Think Broad is the standout performer; I do worry if he has a mare or two, as I doubt some of the rest of the group can pull off great individual performance like Broad has. Team still need some passion and flair to compete more effectively, as it appears confidence in certain individuals has been lacking during some periods.
Alf Bentley Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I'm absolutely gutted still, I can't even think about next season. I'm almost trying to just ignore it all now. Seconded, Matt. I've a nasty sense that I'm going to feel a lot worse about the managerial change in 2-3 months, possibly much sooner. It's in my nature to be determinedly positive/optimistic whenever possible, so I've argued myself into a "it might turn out alright" stance, but deep down I'm pretty sure that it won't. I don't necessarily mean that we'll be relegated (though we might), but that values built over 7yrs (with an intermission) will be frittered away and that wonderful squad, so painstakingly developed, will be disbanded gradually, or not so gradually. If more than a couple of players leave and arrive in the coming weeks, we'll know that it was a change motivated by the owners' desire to interfere, flash cash and "join the big time". The adventure would have ended some day, but this was too early, possibly far too early. Sorry for the digression, cricket fans. Wish I had the time spare to pay proper attention to test cricket - the only sport that I genuinely love, aside from football. After spending about 9 months in Australia back in 1990, I always love to see the Aussies stuffed. Decent, friendly people on the whole, but now I know how much defeat means to them and how badly they take it. "Whingeing poms"? The Aussies are 10 times worse!
Bobby Hundreds Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Haddin likely to sit the next test out due to personal reason. Peter Nevill to step in for his first cap; Lord's really isn't the ground you want to be making your international keeping debut at! This is all starting to feel very similar to our last tour to Australia!
Ollie93 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Listening to TMS for the cricket, not sure about bowling first, could prove costly as Australia have a decent record at Lords!
leicsmac Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Crap toss to lose, could be up against it purely because of the fluke of the coin here. Lord's favours those who win it more than many grounds and the conditions are great for batting here.

Bobby Hundreds Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 at Davey Warner. As Geoffrey would say "I've seen more brains in a chocolate mouse".
