davieG Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 We played the ball on the deck from the back I'm sure all ou r forwards would be better with the ball coming to feet rather than hoofed from the back.
tripe Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Our Croatian friends from Rjika led us to believe that Kramaric should not play up top alone. We have played ulloa, vardy and nugent up front alone at times this season but none of them have impressed me in one performance as much as Kramaric did tonight. I think this is how we should play from now on, does anyone else agree? 5-4-1 from here on out. No, no. He can play up top alone and he did do so for Rijeka in a number of games, but some of his best games were when he was a bit back behind a stronger forward. Against teams like Arsenal that have CBs that are slower and aren't so physical he can do a good job up form alone. Against the Stokes of the PL, my opinion is that he is better coming fto the box from deeper. He can do both the job just as well, it just depends on the opposition you're facing.
catfordfox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Find it odd that Pearson said that Kramaric didn't start against Palace because he wanted Nugent (and then Vardy when he came on) to press their defence - I took that to mean that he didn't think Kramaric was that type of player, and needed to drop back. Yet last night Kramaric was hounding their defenders when they had the ball, so is obviously capable of doing that role. He has to start every game now, whether up front on his own or with another - though like someone said up there, not sure he works with ulloa. But having said that, not sure any of our strikers work that well with leo in a two

Agreed. I hope yesterday puts an end to the hoof ball we seem to play often. We were a lot more dangerous, looked more like the Leicester of last season with all the passing triangles, clever switches of play, etc.

It's because he drops deep, so in effect you play without a 'forward'... which allows the team to push on Despite looking defensive, it's actually quite offensive

Ric Flair Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I'd get Knockert in to this team at the expense of Konchesky and push Schlupp to wingback. Knockaert feeding balls to Kramaric would be sensational, we've finally got a finisher and let's get our creative players in to provide for him.

That's a good idea IMO - could be perfect if we're persisting with the 541 (which incidentally we should)
CloudFox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I actually really like the sound of us trying a 4-5-1/4-3-3 going forwards. Kramaric Schlupp Mahrez James Cambiasso Hammond Konchesky Huth Wasilewski Simpson Schwarzer I'd like De Laet to replace Simpson, really, and Wasilewski over Morgan is a wishlist more than anything, but I think that would be an excellent, fluid formation going forwards. 4-5-1 set up, then 4-3-3 on the atttack/counter. Schlupp is pacey enough to get back if need be, and Hammond can be the screen should either Schlupp or Mahrez fail to track back quickly enough.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Kramaric, Mahrez and Schlupp made things happen last night and forced errors off defenders like Mertesacker all game. If they can keep doing it could be key to us picking up some results. But for individual errors it could have been a 1-1 or even 0-1 last night. Plenty of positives to take and Kramaric up front alone was one of them!
GingerrrFox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 It's the formula that Liverpool have adopted in recent months. For me the best side capable in that formation would be Hamer Was Huth Upson Simpson James Cambiasso Schlupp Knockaert Kramaric Mahrez

FoxinNotts Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 5-3-1-1 Schwarzer. Wasilewski. Huth. Upson. De Laet. Schlupp. Cambiasso. Drinkwater James Mahrez. Kramaric. Play this away from home for the rest of the season, and I think we'll surprise a few and pick up some points. Bit harsh on Simpson, Hamer & Hammond though. Kramarić can lead the line. I think people often confuse this task with being able to hold up the ball aerially. Passing it forward on the deck, on the break, is effective, with wing backs supporting the attack. RD and Jeff are tailor-made wing backs. Konch and Morgan should have been dropped from the starting lineup away from home, long ago IMO.

Would be equally happy to see Hamer there though, Albrighton/knocky would be good options to have on the wings, and Nugent could do a job as an AM in place of Hammond if we need to step things up a bit.

I hope my mate Nige is reading it as well.......in doubt it though!
Jaspa Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 We do play some tidy stuff sometimes. I love when them little fast pass and go moves we come out with work
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 His hold up play is superb. He doesn't look like he's got a bad touch in him, everything sticks. This lad could be the difference between us staying up or going down. I know hes only played a couple of games, but he looks blooming good.
RedSoxUK Posted 13 February 2015 Posted 13 February 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU6195Uj7MQ Quality, absolute quality. How on earth did we land this fella, he would run rings around our back four.
