Overseas Interest

Recommended Posts

Hi...

I am, and have been, a frustrated Fox for the last 20+ years, since I located to Munich (Lurve - yuh know?)... I make around 6 or 7 trips to catch the ladz yearly (Last trip wuz against Spurs and Noo-A-Kastle). I was lucky enough to secure two tickets from a good friend who forgo the pleasure of watching the game live. Newcastle was easy - empty stadium!!!

I almost always organise trips to Leicester with football friends - sometimes up to 16. This year curtailed because of demand.

I really don't think people realise how frustrating it is to not be able to secure any meaningful conversation with the club (follows a conversation with lcfc.sales). Surely the club could re-think it's policy concerning Overseas interest where one could actually speak to someone and work out some possible dates for attendance?

I have organised quite a few trips for my community (pre- 2004 in the Premiership, but, of course, the majority for Championship and Division 1), I didn't encounter too much trouble in those days, but I DO understand the circumstances with 23K Season tickets etc.. It would just be nice to sit down and thrash out a regular "accommodation" for, maybe, one or two games a season, and not encounter the frustration of a Parrot explaining rubbish.....

On the 29th of January I sent the enclosed e-mail.
I DO expect some sort of answer - even if it is a "Dear John".
Please do me the courtesy of providing some sort of an answer

Hi Peeps,
I'm on the scrounge for FOUR tickets for this fixture.... Hopefully you remember me from previous seasons?
I live in Munich and come over quite often - just to watch the ladz, but, of course, this season it's a little different with most games getting sold-out (which, honestly, pleases me tremendously). I attended the Tottering and Nooo-A-Kastle games over Xmas, and asked an official in the Stadium-shop who advised me that the only way to achieve my wish was via e-mail!!
I have brought sometimes around 16 Munich friends to games in the past, and, naturally they also wanted to come this season, but, I explained that 23,000 Season Tickets had been sold (brilliant), and our opportunities were extremely limited!!
Most years a friend and I attend the Leicester Beer Festival (He just loves it - but it is a little different from our local one!!), the Festival is from 10.03 to 14.03. This year my landlord and a friend also wish to experience the city of Leicester!!
We really must try to achieve something over Pre-season.... I am an official at a local Football club (7th tier), but besides that, we have very strong ties to both the Munich recognised Professional clubs (especially 1860).... Although I do know that Thailand is also a pre-season priority.
Thanx for your time,
Stephen Hughes

Hello Stephen,
Thank you for your email regarding the Leicester City v Hull fixture on Saturday 14th March 2015.
All our home games for this season are sold on a priority basis. Members of the club have first priority (depending on their specific membership), followed by season ticket holders. After the season ticket holder period of purchasing tickets, they would then go on sale to supporters with a booking history for the 2013/14 or 2014/15 seasons. However, because of popularity of fixtures this season it is unlikely that games are getting to the point of booking history and general sale.
Therefore your best chance to insure priority in purchasing tickets is to become a member of the club, this would ensure you a priority for all home games this season.
The membership packages that we offer are as followed; The Family Fox Membership £100.00 (for both an Adult and an Under 18) this is our priority one membership and The City Fox Membership £20.00 (per membership) this is our third priority membership.
All tickets are sold on a one ticket per membership/ season card holder basis and are subject to availability.
The Leicester City v Hull fixture on Saturday 14th March 2015 is currently only available to our Gold Fox, Family Fox and Silver Members.
As of tomorrow this fixture is also available to City Fox Members as well.
At present the only sale dates we have released for members and season ticket holders released.
Sales dates can be found online on our website www.lcfc.com.
Kind regards,
 Ellie

So, effectively gets rid of overseas support!!
I suppose that my friends will have to wait until LCFC needs us again.

Hello Stephen,
Due to the popularity of the fixture this season our membership packages are the best way to ensure a priority to supporters ahead of season ticket holders and general sale.
Should this fixture make it to the point of general sale you would then be able to purchase a ticket without a membership/ season ticket.
However, we do not have general sale dates released this far in advance.
General sale dates tend to be around 1-2 weeks before the date of the fixture.
Kind regards,
Ellie

And? When they do go on general sale - it's not as if I can saunter on down to Filbert Way and negotiate 4 tickets.Look,
Does the club not think that some kinda arrangements should be available for people in my situation?
It costs me the price of 1.5 to 2 season tickets every time that I manage to get some holiday from Germany.
Hello Stephen,
As stated in my previous emails it is unlikely that fixtures this season make it to the point of general sale. However, if fixtures were to make it to the point of general sale it would usually be around 1-2 weeks before the date of the game itself.
There is no restriction for overseas supporters who wish to purchase tickets. The selling order remains the same for overseas supporters with those who have paid for membership ensuring themselves a priority above those without a membership.
Therefore should you wish to purchase tickets your best bet is to purchase a membership with us.
Kind regards,
Ellie

So, your suggestion is...
I should buy 4 memberships to accommodate my request for 4 tickets?
When I have a party of 16 - 16 memberships should suffice?
Hello Stephen,
Yes that is correct all tickets are sold on a one ticket per membership basis, are subject to availability and are non-refundable.
Kind regards,
Ellie

This is surely a pi%%take? Do you have some sort of God complex with a divine right to a ticket? Your choice to live abroad and not buy a membership.

 Another keyboard warrior.

Bloody hell , welcome to Leicester :(

How so? I thought the email was written in a derogatory manner.

The guy is getting pissy as he can't accomodate 16, yes 16 friends with no real affiliation to Leicester.

No I don't think he's saying that mick...I see your problem and don't understand why you can't pre book games for the season via Visa card etc..can't see what the problem is with the ticket office..selling tickets is selling tickets dos boulder matter where you live...try and e mail alan birchenall I know a lad who lived in France had a few issues and alan sorted him something out...worth a try

Strange tone to send the emails in the first place, you aren't going to get any favours talking to people like that. However, provisions for overseas supporters are made in other walks of life so it (shouldn't) surprises LCFC do not follow suit to be honest. After all, football and the Premier League in particular, is a brand highly attractive to plenty of overseas fans.

Look at it this way. For the sake of a one off (possibly annual event) sale to 1 fan and 15 friends they risk not providingn tickets to 16 fans who have potential to attend more regularly.

This kind of thing should not be directed to the general ticket office as the operators there will have a process to follow and won't understand/ care about any future PR opportunity.

Get someone at your local club to engage with officials at LCFC and in sure something can happen. They have tickets for this type of eventuality as they hand them out to local bfootball clubs as far as I know. Worth a try

I understand that people don't like the tone of the emails, but you'd think the club would be interested in promoting themselves on an international level.

wait till next season it will be much easier to get a seat..

Are you saying those 7000 new season ticket holders this season who all of a sudden can go to every home game won't be renewing next season if we drop?

I don't believe you for one minute.

The Club seemed pretty accommodating and helpful towards a large group of Belgian honorary Foxes who came to a home game on more than one occasion last season.

Match ticket priority:

There are rules.

Which must be followed.

Since you live in Germany, you should be used to this.

If the Greeks get no leeway on their EU bailout terms, then you don't get match tickets ahead of club members.

Fair is fair.

only for it to make the press and get several hundred complaints from people who can't get tickets and have been trying all season. (I don't actually believe that last bit)

dammed if you do.

Why are you writing so informally? If I worked at Leicester City and received your email, I'd think "If you can't be bothered to write in proper English, then why should I be bothered to investigate"

Talking to them like your texting a mate down the pub isn't going to do you any favours.
