Where in Britain would you be happiest?

Quite frankly, nowhere. I hate to put a downer on this thread but......

I made the move to the states 5 years ago and it was the best decision i ever made.

I have a 4 bedroom house with 1300 sq ft basement  turned into a games room ( pool table came with the house) and the other half turned into a work shop. with air compressor and air compressor lines leading upto the garage 2 outbuildings ASWELL as an attached 2 car garage on 2 acres of land in the country. I paid $85,000 for it which is the equivalent of about 50 grand at the time.

I get paid about 40% more even after converting dollars to pounds and yet the taxes are lower. I pay income tax of 10%, sales tax of 7.5% and only about 12% tax on fuel ( in England its about 60% right now i think for petrol tax). Not only are they lower, i ended up getting more back in my tax returns than what i paid in. No idea how that works.

im about 2 1/2 hours one way from an amazing mountain range and 2/12 hours the other way from some amazing beaches.

Best move i ever made!

Best: Suffolk Coastal (27%)

Worst: Argyle and Bute (8%)
Near: South Derbyshire (22%)

Where I live - 20%

Basically, congratulations you'll be miserable everywhere.

i went Bute last year on a coach holiday. OK for a short stay. Not sure if I'd want to live there. Very relaxing in the short term but could get boring longer.

Boring would be fine for me, in reality North London would probably be the worst place to live of those I've been to.

Best - Hinckley and Bosworth (oh well, not too far off then :) ) 67%

Worst - Newham 56%

Where I Live - Oadby and Wigston  66% (Meh, why bother for an extra 1%?)

Best near you - errrrrm... Hinckley and Bosworth?

Seems to be a small spread between best and worst for me, probably because I'm fairly easy going.

How did you get that from my facebook page?

In all seriousness i could show someone over here a photo a photo of an EDL march and they could come to the conclusion the whole nation is in anarchy.... The power of a photo!

I can honestly say i know of absolutely no one   who looks similar to those in the  photo... and certainly no one who lives in this area...... I did once meet a woman who had a few teeth missing but that was in the hospital i work in about 3 years ago.... when she heard i  was from England she asked where i had learnt to speak English from as it was very good. lol

Best: Teignbridge (79%)

Worst: Eilean Siar (66%)

Where you live: Derby (73%)

Best near you: South Derbyshire (73%)

Eilean Siar tourist board must be seething at this test. Like Devon but don't think I'd want to live that far away.
