Barton has spent his career in the Premier League aside from 2 lone seasons in the Championship at Newcastle and QPR plus a season at Marseille. He will always be discredited because of how he is as a person but as a footballer he is massively underrated. Also I never implied that Leicester City should sign Barton. To be fair, you never suggested that AND you were right on the stats ginge.

Cheers Col don't get me wrong I'm not claiming he's a world beater but Barton is a good player who gets written off purely because of personality issues and public opinion. He's similar to Cattermole who I also think is a good Premier League defensive midfielder.

Trev Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 RB - Kévin Théophile-Catherine had a solid season this year. LB - Luke Garbutt big prospect Both would be better at playing full backs should be move back to 442. Huth obviously in as CB, maybe look to loan Rugani from Juventus had an unbelievable season for someone his age. Jedinak is the ideal replacement for me, next to cambiasso (should he stay) would be the perfect combination. If he does leave I think that Arteta or Inan are both capable of creating chances as well as getting stuck in. Bakary Sako looks like a good choice. Lots of goals and assists every season and is good from set pieces. If not then Rybus, who we were linked with looks decent. 7 assists and 3 goals. Not convinced if we need to sign someone that will link up play behind the forwards. Mahrez has done well there and I think Kramaric fills that role very well too. Another striker is needed imo. We had a serious lack of goal threat through the majority of the season. Someone who has been prolific at this level would be best. No names spring to mind however.
conLAD logan Posted 27 May 2015 Posted 27 May 2015 A big issue with suggesting players Id like to see come in is I feel my judgement of our own players is clouded by our recent run of form. Part of me thinks we just need squad players and to sign on those like wasyl, huth and Cambiasso and we should finish mid table, but another part of me thinks will our players keep up such a run or did we simply play off momentum? What happens if we have the same blip as last season where we play well; but don't get the results and we get relegated? It's certainly gonna be interesting whatever pearson does this summer. I can see a "marque" signing in centre midfield and defence if we are keep on improving our team and not standing still while others improve. Exciting times...

I suppose we might keep Simpson still but I wouldn't wanna be playing Albrighton at RB for too long.

People are going to hate the guy regardless but in pure footballing terms he's a decent player Would be more than happy to sign any of the following assuming Nige was able to get them to buy into our way of playing. Jedinak Dembele Bradley Johnson Diame Huddlestone Barton Dembele and Diame for me! Both good with the ball, aggressive, powerful and direct. Would give us something different that we don't have.

I would say we 100% need a LWB cover is schluppy gets injured and we also need healthy competition, Also to maybe drop into a left back spot as we might alter the formation on occasions.. We could do with cover for RWB also in that positon although RDL can play there he seems to have been utilized the in 3 center backs towards the back end of season. RWB/LWB roles are very tiring so we really need cover. Hopefully we get Huth but i also think we need another top class centre back ready made for the premier league as if Huth got injured i think we would be back to sqaure one with the useless defending. Again Hopefully we Keep Cambiasso but he is getting older so we still need another top top top quality Midfielder just in case he gets injured or needs a rest or to even play side by side with him especially with Matty James injured. We could also do with another striker/forward as Wood and maybe Nugent have proved not to be as prolific in the top flight although Nuge offers abit more than just goals. To conclude that RWB, LWB, Centre Mid, Centre back, Striker/forward please

Its hardly inappropriate for me to assume you were suggesting the player as a potential signing considering you posted it in a thread named "next season who would you like to see come in" which is located in the "transfer talk" section of this forum.
