bovril Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Pretty irrelevant where I am, Ashworth could be an apple in a red tie and it'd still win. In my constituency you could put Jesus Christ in a red tie and he wouldn't get past the Conservatives.
Voll Blau Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 That's true but if people did spoil the ballot then it's clearly not just a drunk incapable of casting their vote. If you wanted to vote for none of them then actually make the effort to spoil the ballot by writing 'none' across it or something, then at least you have been active in saying what you want. If enough people do that, it gets coverage and people start to take notice, maybe we get that option on the ballot or whatever. I can't ever accept the 34% of people who didn't vote last, moaning about 'them all being the same' or complaining about things when they do nothing to try and change it. For sure everyone has the choice whether to vote or not but if you don't vote then they won't care about you, at least if you spoil the ballot then you're adding numbers to a campaign for change Correct. Unless you're literally involved in planning a revolution (gun-running, taking a BTEC in guerrilla warfare) then you really should be making your point at the ballot box. Claiming that staying at home sends a message is an absolute crock of shit.
Strokes Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 In my constituency you could put Jesus Christ in a red tie and he wouldn't get past the Conservatives. I wouldn't vote for Jesus, I don't like his holier than thou attitude.
bovril Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 I wouldn't vote for Jesus, I don't like his holier than thou attitude. Full of promises he can't make. Feed 5000? Fvck off.

RobHawk Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Staying at home just makes us look like a nation of lazy bastards who don't understand the sacrifices many before us made so we could live in this country and have the right to vote. Going to the polling station and spoiling your ballot, says i appreciate that i have the right the vote and am willing to get off my arse to do so, but do not want to vote for any of the candidates in question! Its a no brainer for me, everyone should register and attend, don't want to vote any of them in? then don't! But don't sit at home thinking its a waste of time. In most constituencies more people don't vote than the winning number of votes so it really is a lazy/idiotic argument not to vote!
bovril Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Blames the bankers for everything, cheap populism at its worst.
Strokes Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 He thinks he is billy big bollox because his dad is well known......fùck off Jesus you príck.
Rincewind Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Got all my voting forms. I have noticed that one of the Tory Candidates in the council elections lives on my street about 4 doors down. And one of the Green party's name is Sackin. I'll fill them out later.Don't know how I will be able to find 3 worthy of my vote in the council elections.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 When was this out of interest if anyone remembers? I'm not having it anyway, he's a good football manager he's got to be a socialist. There is no such thing as a good Socialist.
Rincewind Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 There is no such thing as a good Socialist. If I chose to be bias and stero typing I could say there are no compasionate Tories. I know more good Socialists than I know Compasionate Tories but that is because I get on with them better.
Buce Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 There is no such thing as a good Socialist. I'm hurt, DT - I thought you liked me..
Jon the Hat Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 It surprise me that there is one in my street. If I chose to be bias and stero typing I could say there are no compasionate Tories. I know more good Socialists than I know Compasionate Tories but that is because I get on with them better. So ken if you are not stereotyping, why did you think there would not be a prospective Tory councillor on your street?
The Blur Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 Am I being naive or something but I thought Ed has ruled out a colitation with SNP? I can't see him doing an u-turn on that. I know politicians probably lie to their own grandmothers but we have all seen how much a public u-turn can bugger up your support-just ask Nick and Lib Dems.
Rincewind Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 So ken if you are not stereotyping, why did you think there would not be a prospective Tory councillor on your street? I edited my post to make it shorter. I have had no leaflets from them and have not seen any Tory posters in windows in my area. More of a gut feeling than based on people. So there is no reason other than that.

True but it isn't Labour that is promoting the possibility to attract unsure voters.
DennisNedry Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 A Labour/SNP coalition would be disastrous for everywhere except Scotland.
Rincewind Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 And that is why the Tory's are saying it will happen. Simple logic.
Jon the Hat Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 And that is why the Tory's are saying it will happen. Simple logic. That and the fact that it will obviously happen if Labour need SNP seats / support to form a Government, either formally or informally.
The Blur Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 True but it isn't Labour that is promoting the possibility to attract unsure voters. Ed ruled that out on public TV so I do not really think they are promoting that?

They've ruled out a formal coalition but they can come to an agreement that they will vote on Labour policies in return for giving them something, a confidence and supply agreement.
The Blur Posted 24 April 2015 Posted 24 April 2015 They've ruled out a formal coalition but they can come to an agreement that they will vote on Labour policies in return for giving them something, a confidence and supply agreement. This sound bit dodgy- surely Labour can't be able to always say yes to every SNP policies?
Webbo Posted 24 April 2015 Author Posted 24 April 2015 This sound bit dodgy- surely Labour can't be able to always say yes to every SNP policies? It's a legitimate way to run a govt under the circumstances, you have decide whether the prospect of the SNP having some power is something you'd want. Some people will some people won't.
