Benguin Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Thought it'd be good to have a little thread about sleep, dreams, nightmares etc. I've been prescribed Codeine for an ongoing medical issue and have been taking it for about two weeks now. It's great because it works an absolute charm on the pain but I've noticed over the last week that I've been having loads of vivid dreams and most of them have been of the darker nightmare side of things. Last night I dreamt that I went into a public toilet but it was huge, with giant fountains and half a mile long urinals. I went up to take a piss and the sprinklers at the top started squirting water to clean the urinals. The speed of the water became extensive and before long the room was flooding with water and I started to drown. Then I noticed these weird like squid things chasing me. I got back to my bed alive but I was sweating so much it was like I had just transported back to my bed from that place. What sort of dreams do you guys have?
cambridgefox Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I slept like a baby last night Woke up crying and Sh!t myself.
ousefox Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 I have a few recurring dreams but always forget what they are. I once dreamt about going to a urinal to have a piss and so nearly pissed in real life.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 April 2015 Posted 28 April 2015 Never been a very good sleeper, myself, takes me an age to get to sleep, wake up a lot, terrible dreams often, paralysis occasionally. If I get a good nights kip a few nights in a row it's an absolute blessing, always makes me realise how important a good nights kip is, always much more productive when I can manage it.
MPH Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I have a recurring dream. Might sound odd to some. But it's s dream. Hey ho. Suddenly I find myself hiding under a table. I'm totally scared in the dream. Like fearing for my life scared. as I know the German army Nazis are looking for me. I've just ran from them. The table is in an old small garden shed. It's very dusty.its night time. I'm breathing heavy. I start to hear a rumble and the screeching and clunking sound of machinery. It's s tank. The rumble gets louder and louder and so does the screeching of metal. The rumbling is so loud that the vibrations ishake the dust off of the table above me.I then see a search light looking into the shed and I hear German voices. The voices are louder and the sound of the tank gets louder and louder. It gets almost deafening. I know it's upon me and my life is about to be over. I'm so scared by now that I feel like my heart is going to explode. It's then that I wake up breathing really heavy and covered in sweat. It's the exact same dream every time. Usually about once a month. Utterly Terrifying.

It is odd I used to have a recurring dream where I was hiding under a table and the place was shaking, except it was the Cyber men!
kingcarr21 Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Im really lucky because i always fall asleep in an instant. Even as a child as soon as my head touches the pillow i just close my eyes and thats it im gone. The wife hates it because i snore which stops her going sleep. I always try to stay awake on my phone for her to go sleep first. I always try and get inbetween 6-7 hours sleep as i find anymore sleep makes me feel bad. The only dream ive had which i woke up in a sweat from was me picking up my daughter from school and as i crossed the road i got hit by a lorry and literally watched the tyre going along my body and on my face. At that point i jumped out of bed in an instant. Never experienced anything like it. Took me 2 hours to go back sleep. Other than that i sleep really well. Even when i worked nightshift i used to go sleep at 8am and set my alarm for 2:30pm and wouldnt wake up at all. Noise doesnt ever bother me. Im one of the lucky ones i guess.
ScouseFox Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I'm in a new routine now I work 8.30-5 and that involves going to bed at 10 most days or else I'll die in the morning. I still struggle in the mornings tbf. The last 10 days or so since I started this I've slept well better than when I'd sleep 12-7 one day then 1-11 the next then 11-9 etc etc.
Crinklyfox Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Sleep is a habit. When I was younger I could sleep easily and changes to my body clock (for instance shift work or travel between time zones) were easily tolerated. As I have aged my tolerance to these disturbances in my sleep pattern has reduced and I now find that the easiest way to get a good nights sleep is to go to bed at roughly the same time every evening. I have suffered from bouts of insomnia which really screw up your life and make clear the value of sleep. Prescription drugs do work to help to restore the sleep pattern but for me they don't result in a truly restful nights sleep and can become habit-forming so I avoid. Herbal remedies don't work for me. Although not openly available in the UK, Melatonin can be purchased over the counter in many countries and I've used it occasionally when abroad, it replaces the body's own sleep-inducing mechanism. I only use it for one night to set up a new sleep pattern, then stop to avoid any detrimental effects.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Very often don't remember my dreams, but sometimes I wake up filled with enthusiasm and occasionally wake up feeling really low Used to have flying dreams all the time, the ones I love at the moment are where I live somewhere exciting like on the coast or in the arctic etc. I hate the dreams where you're trying your hardest to punch someone senseless and every punch you land is really soft The weird ones I quite like, where the ground is falling away or you're hanging out with people who normally wouldn't mix. I was skateboarding with a colleague and a friend I haven't seen in about 8 years the other day, that was funny
Rincewind Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I'm sleeping OK. Its not waking up that worries me.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Had to take a sleeping pill last night. I'm usually a pretty good sleeper but sometimes when I have stuff on my mind I get really restless and struggle to nod off. I love dreams, I used to write them down afterwards. I'd like to try and get into lucid dreaming, I've had one that I can remember but I read that you can train your body to do it on a regular basis.
Darkon84 Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I don't usually sleep particularly well, though when I do, I almost always have vivid dreams and remember them. I can still see last night crystal clear...In some sort of huge high rise student accommodation with old Uni friends (and strangely Sir Alex Ferguson for a minute), drinking Jura Whisky. I go out on to the balcony looking out over a few streets and then the ocean with Trigger from Only Fools & Horses in his blue suit (don't ask, I have no idea either), when mini tornadoes start to come in from the ocean so I try to get everyone inside to safety. This is followed quickly by a huge tsunami, causing the building to rock and twist until it eventually breaks in half and I begin to fall, whilst still inside the stairwell. I manoeuvre myself, whilst in mid air, in to a position I think will be safest to land in, but then I wake up. Yea, I know, I'm normal
Bayfox Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I' sleeping badly. Due to a lot of stress at work and some issues we had at home a few months ago. Despite moving I am still on edge a lot of the time. I did however have an awesome dream one night last week that involved going down on Michelle keegan. She was loving it as well. Gutted when I woke up.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I'm not sleeping well at the moment. Usually it is the nerve damage in my foot that keeps me awake, and I am on masses of pain killers. My hip is now agonisingly painful, and down my leg. God knows what it would be like without the tablets I take. I hate going to the quack, but I reckon I'll have to. When I do sleep, my dreams are 90% about the mill I worked in, before I joined the Police. Almost twenty years of shift work, and I still can't get away from the place!
bovril Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I always have dreams I'm late for stuff. I always have dreams I'm being followed.
MPH Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 When i was in junior school i used to dream that i'd set out for school and forgot to put underwear and trousers on. Of course as dreams always make perfect sense, i'd continue on to school trying to pull my t-shirt down to cover me and have people laughing at me instead of legging it back home

bovril Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I think the naked at school dream means you want to sleep with your Mum. Or kill her, I can't quite remember.
