Leicester_Numan Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Games are games,1 league or another, up and down the ladder...the relegation dogfight, cup runs!!! FORGET these moments of normal footballing every day life.. No my friends, my footballing heart cried, when my club, yes the Leicester, I supported all my life... Went into admin, the sword of damocles, hung over all those future, not yet to be recognised dreams, not too exist in any form, only competing in the same league as the Blaby boys, stadium rovers. This entertaining, almost lost season may never have happened. Admin, Admin, that was the worst of any season in my football supporters life. A traditional Club nearly blown away, not just relegated, but blown out of existence. I will be happy to take the yo yoing, I have never been a fan to stay down, or shed stupid unnecessary tears at a loss or relegation. The playing side gives the enjoyment and memories good, b ad/exstatic, dire. Admin, is a death noll, We just survived , and overcome the last toll. This was also the worst feeling I've ever had. I was one of the few that looked at our relegation to league one with relief, hope and optimism. I felt we'd been fighting the inevitable ever since we were last relegated from the Premier League and this was the chance to start afresh. The only thing that bothered me was losing our record of never having been lower than the top two divisions. This season, we all knew there was a good chance of relegation and we've had a long time sitting at the bottom of the table to get used to the idea. Going down like that wouldn't have concerned me that much as it would still be the strongest position the club had ever been in after relegation. Now, after this run and the hope and excitement it's brought, to go down would be devastating, but only till my brain kicks in and reminds me that we're still in a very strong position for next season and I'll be proud of the effort, determination and commitment to the cause of the manager, team and finally the fans. This is the first time I can honestly say I'm genuinely proud of us all. I don't particularly want to bang this drum again but I'm sure you can now see for yourselves the difference it makes when we all get behind the team, regardless of what anyone personally feels about the manager.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 That Sheffield Wednesday home game. Horrible. Hume tearing them a new one, winning at half time. Let's put Hume on the wing and Barry Hayles up front!
Jaspa Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 That Sheffield Wednesday home game. Horrible. The Preston home game at night sticks in my head from that season, trudging out after watching DJ Campbell run offside for the 25th time and losing 1-0. Realistically we could be safe with a draw on Saturday as long as Hull lose to Spurs.
Alex_LCFC Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 You clearly say the pint glass I'd half empty rather than half full
Carlos88LCFC Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Tottenham beat Hull and we are laughing. Their last home game of the season they SHOULD win. A point at Sunderland is more than enough but I expect a win.

desertfox2 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 If it happened and I hope/pray that it doesn't. For me it would be devastating still, but probably less so than if we hadn't had the run we have been on. The worst time for me being a fan is if we don't seem to be getting better. It's a great time I think to be a city fan now as with the owners NP and the recent proof that our players can cut it at this level we are showing that we are progressing.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I'd struggle to find anything to come as close as Watford away. Cardiff was bitter sweet in a way as we'd dragged ourselves back from the brink with a stunning performance. It's kind of like us now. I don't want us to go down but if we did itd be to go down fighting which is what we've done. I've said all season long that we categorically aren't the worst side in the league and still wouldn't be if we finished bottom now. The jibes from forest and derby would hurt but nothing like Watford.

Frost Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 That Sheffield Wednesday home game. Horrible. That was grim. League One was a killer. That Watford one actually hurt less than Cardiff for some reason. It was gutting but I convinced myself Knocky was never going to score. I think Cardiff was a heart-breaker, but Deeney's goal kind of left me in a state of shock. I couldn't believe it.
MikeyT Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Takes a lot to make me cry but i think I would roar like a baby and curl in a fetal position on the floor if we went down on the last day. But that ain't gonna happen. Ostrich army!!
Dan Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I'm still struggling to understand how Cardiff hit me so much harder than Watford. Probably because Watford I thought they were comfortably better than us, Cardiff were under-achievers with that squad, some detestable players in their squad, and got ridiculously lucky on the night. I think against Cardiff we were robbed, whereas against Watford we were prevented doing the robbing.
Nod.E Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 As painful as eating a cue ball and stinging nettle sandwich.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 It'd pinch a little.. To the tune of having to watch Championship footy and also to the tune of c. 300 quid
stripeyfox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I once read a story which may or may not be true about a guy who managed to dislocate his leg from the socket with his pelvis (if such a thing is possible). When they "clicked" it back in, he screamed in pain - because they'd managed to trap his ball sack and one testicle into the socket. This would probably be comparable to how painful it would be if we went down now.

lestajigs Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I think that we will stay up but we probably need one more win from our last two games. The way the table is at the moment and looking at the games our rivals still have to play, I can't see us being mathematically safe when we take the field against QPR on the last day though. It might be a nerve-jangling afternoon. Another Oxford 1991. But after this astonishing, incredible run of results, which the whole world will have noticed given the universal popularity of the Premier League, just how bad will it be if we do end slipping through the trap-door? How would it rank now when compared with some of the other major disappointments suffered by LCFC? In my own lifetime I would pick out these as the most traumatic things that have happened to the club. 1969 - being relegated and losing an FA Cup Final in the same season 1977/78 - the utter humiliation of the Frank McLintock season 1979 - being knocked out of the FA Cup by Harlow Town 1982 - losing to Spurs in the FA Cup semi final 1993 - losing the play-off final to Swindon 4-3 after coming back from 3-0 down 2001 - beaten by Wycombe at home in the FA Cub by a goal from a striker bought off E-Bay 2002 - the club going into administration 2008 - relegation to the third tier for the first time ever 2013 - losing to Watford in the play-off semi final. There are some extremely painful memories in amongst that lot and I apologise for bringing them up again. But if we end up going down now, after all that's happened in the last 6 weeks, I'm really worried that it will be the cruellest moment of them all. How do other supporters feel? I'm just praying now. I don't know what else I can do. I rekon you can add Cardiff in there, the way we played that night I was absolutely gutted for weeks
melrose Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 It's got to be the 1982 semi final...that was when the FA Cup really mattered! I've just had a little cry over it again! Fukcing hate Garth Crooks!
