ceredigion Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I think that we will stay up but we probably need one more win from our last two games. The way the table is at the moment and looking at the games our rivals still have to play, I can't see us being mathematically safe when we take the field against QPR on the last day though. It might be a nerve-jangling afternoon. Another Oxford 1991. But after this astonishing, incredible run of results, which the whole world will have noticed given the universal popularity of the Premier League, just how bad will it be if we do end slipping through the trap-door? How would it rank now when compared with some of the other major disappointments suffered by LCFC? In my own lifetime I would pick out these as the most traumatic things that have happened to the club. 1969 - being relegated and losing an FA Cup Final in the same season 1977/78 - the utter humiliation of the Frank McLintock season 1979 - being knocked out of the FA Cup by Harlow Town 1982 - losing to Spurs in the FA Cup semi final 1993 - losing the play-off final to Swindon 4-3 after coming back from 3-0 down 2001 - beaten by Wycombe at home in the FA Cub by a goal from a striker bought off E-Bay 2002 - the club going into administration 2008 - relegation to the third tier for the first time ever 2013 - losing to Watford in the play-off semi final. There are some extremely painful memories in amongst that lot and I apologise for bringing them up again. But if we end up going down now, after all that's happened in the last 6 weeks, I'm really worried that it will be the cruellest moment of them all. How do other supporters feel? I'm just praying now. I don't know what else I can do.
GaelicFox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Why the feck did you put that up ? it's like asking which hurt more your Grandad dying of heart attack or your granny chocking to death on a fish bone Serious misery in that post

GaelicFox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I've asked my kids to remove my belt and shoelaces. thanks for that mate! 15 min checks as well
Livid Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Hush!!! I'd be devastated....like they say It's the hope that kills you.
Fox in the North Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I think this team is too motivated and unified to let such a thing happen this time round. I've never seen such energy and determination from such a hopeless position.
Kasey Keller Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 All of the above (most recent) have and will make us stronger, the lads came back from that watford heartache to get up the following year. Pearson will have drilled into all the players that we've put ourselves in a great position we wont just chuck away now.
davieG Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Seen all of them and nothing matches....... 2008 - relegation to the third tier for the first time ever for the worst ever feeling re LCFC and I've seen some shit.
sdb Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Miserable? Yes. Worth it to remind some people that we're not home and hosed yet? Definitely. More points needed!!!
StanSP Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 It'd be gut-wrenching. Similar to relegation to League One but still worse than both recent play-off defeats.
ScouseFox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 i'd rather go down now than already have been relegated embarrassingly like a qpr or a burnley
Sharpe's Fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I'll do a Paddy Ashdown and say if we go down I'll eat my hat.
Raj Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 To get into this situation and get relegated I would seriously consider GBH on General Smuts.
The Blur Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Why the feck did you put that up ? it's like asking which hurt more your Grandad dying of heart attack or your granny chocking to death on a fish bone Serious misery in that post Brilliant!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 i'd rather go down now than already have been relegated embarrassingly like a qpr or a burnley Harsh on Burnley, they certainly haven't embarrassed themselves this year
David Lowe Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Perhaps it is because it is recent, but the Watford game was the one that finished me off. Hope turning to despair so quickly. In some of those examples there was never any hope.
Mike Oxlong Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Not as bad as if we'd gone down with a whimper. Can be proud of my team regardless.
Phube Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Spurs in the 99 Worthington Cup Final. Boring game with a very late undeserved goal giving us no time to retaliate!
fuchsntf Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Games are games,1 league or another, up and down the ladder...the relegation dogfight, cup runs!!! FORGET these moments of normal footballing every day life.. No my friends, my footballing heart cried, when my club, yes the Leicester, I supported all my life... Went into admin, the sword of damocles, hung over all those future, not yet to be recognised dreams, not too exist in any form, only competing in the same league as the Blaby boys, stadium rovers. This entertaining, almost lost season may never have happened. Admin, Admin, that was the worst of any season in my football supporters life. A traditional Club nearly blown away, not just relegated, but blown out of existence. I will be happy to take the yo yoing, I have never been a fan to stay down, or shed stupid unnecessary tears at a loss or relegation. The playing side gives the enjoyment and memories good, b ad/exstatic, dire. Admin, is a death noll, We just survived , and overcome the last toll.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I kinda fell out of love with football after we lost to cardiff in the playoffs. It's different now though, this team seem to want to give everything for the club, the manager and the fans. I know that if we do go down it won't be through lack of effort. I've never been more proud to be a leicester fan and I don't think that'll change whether we stay up or go down.
lifted*fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Stuck £15 on 33/1 for us to go down. I don't think for a second we will but acquiring about £500 if we do will certainly help soften the blow. I can cry into my clapper on beach somewhere.
