dylanlegend Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Surely we should be looking for a higher calibre of players now? Similar to Huth- established PL quality. I mean if this lad gets overlooked for both Blackett and McNair he can't be that good surely? I'd go for Curtis Davies

4everfox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I like this guy, good defender. I can definitely see this one being true. Alex Ferguson would be turning in his proverbial grave at the sight of Louis Van Gaal dismantling his youth academy, and we are reaping all the benefits.
LCCFox96 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 If we can get him free and he has the potential to develop into a good PL player, then I don't see anything wrong with this signing. If true, his current lack of 1st team football suggests he might be headed out on loan for a year before going into the first team fold.

I mean if this lad gets overlooked for both Blackett and McNair he can't be that good surely? I'd go for Curtis Davies Well when you look at our squad Was and Upson out of contract, Huth returning to Stoke unless we sign him and rumours of Moore having a strop as well as currently not being good enough leaves us plenty of room to sign a few CBs. You really think if we sign this guy we won't get another?
Robin JD Popley Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Said we should sign him last season; you don't captain the Utd reserves without having something about you. Always impressed me whenever I've seen him play for the different youth levels of England on good ol' Eurosport! (Ironically the way my Dad and I knew who Matty Fryatt was 6 months before we got him from Walsall - said to each other on Holiday that year; "He'd be good for us".)
Stevosevic Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 if we want to play 3 at the we need 5 CBs minimum. As it stands, we only definitely have Morgan and Moore next year Hopefully Huth and Was to add to that. Upson will be off I'm sure
Robin JD Popley Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 The obligatory Youtube video for those who haven't seen him play; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BL8_OkAqOY

conLAD logan Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Believe a lot of Man Utd fans rated him as their best cb prospect before van gaal came in. Perhaps he just doesn't fit in with his philosophy of ball playing Cbs and therefore surpassed to requirements. We need to sign these sorts of players for an eye for the future when the likes of was, wes potentially huth legs have gone then moore and Thorpe can step up along with someone else to replace them.
TJB-fox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 From what ive seen he is a ball playing centrehalf. Get the impression it was always going to be this lad or Tyler Blackett, and Blackett was picked due to his capabilities in a back 3 (although LvG might regret that now!)
Spudulike Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Probably not the best news for Liam Moore. Did he take part in yesterdays lap of appreciation ??
Soar Fox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Probably not the best news for Liam Moore. Did he take part in yesterdays lap of appreciation ?? Yes and looked a right miserable cvnt all the way round.
ScouseFox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Yes and looked a right miserable cvnt all the way round. Yeah did he not get the memo that we were celebrating. Looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there.
Stevosevic Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Yeah did he not get the memo that we were celebrating. Looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. Supposed Leicester fan too
gurru991 Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 I like this move if it plays out. Looking ahead is the way to build
GingerrrFox Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Supposed Leicester fan too He's never been a Leicester fan in truth. He's a secret Man Utd fan. He's acting a right twat at the moment by all accounts and I'd be surprised if he doesn't 1) go on loan for a whole season or 2) gets moved on by Nigel.

Lawrence/Barmby/Rowley all signed from Man Utd u21's but not made an impact for us yet. We have plenty of our own young talent coming through our academy. Time will tell if any can make the step up. Think we should be setting our sights higher by bringing in proven quality when signing players for the Premier League.

Can't see him staying if he doesn't sort himself out. He was given a chance and wasn't prem standard yet. He can hardly feel hard done by as he played nowhere near as well as huth, morgan or was. Should take a look at albrighton. Didn't sulk got his chance and took it with both hands. Albrighton could easily have sulked but no he worked hard and made himself undropable.

We have plenty of our own young talent coming through our academy. Time will tell if any can make the step up. Think we should be setting our sights higher by bringing in proven quality when signing players for the Premier League. See what your saying but have to disagree. Almost every player in the man u academy would make a good championship player, Some will make good prem players a few will be world beaters. We have to go down this route to have a chance of competing with the top sides, with FFP even in all three of them don't make the grade here which is unlikely we could sell and make a tidy profit on any one of them. Wasn't it something like 9 clubs wanted lawrence on loan? If we ever wanted to sell him it would be a bidding war for champ sides. It's good business for the club and will help us grow in any outcome. Great management
