MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 I found the Watford story intriguing and became a fan of their way of playing - until they hit a rut and started to play a drab, cautious possession-based football, trying to keep a clean sheet first instead of playing to their strengths that made them so likeable in the first half of the season. Flores clearly must've told his players to take it easy once relegation was more or less mathematically impossible and that was a huge downer and the main reason behind their drop in form in the second half of this season and to an outsider, the biggest disappointment of an otherwise fantastic success story. Vicarage Road partially rebuilt, an FA Cup semi-final to show for and two players (Deeney and Ighalo) that lit up the league - until they started to fade for most part this winter and spring, only to re-emerge in the last two or three matches. Flores has used his squad in a funny way when you look at it from a tactical point of view. I'd say especially in midfield, there were too many players deployed in a position they're not used to (Jurado, Abdi), played little (Berghuis is a real talent) or were brought in rather late and haven't really settled in (Amrabat, Suarez) and are seemingly only at the club due to their Spanish connection. They've got a rather big squad (31 players in the first team, plus another ten out of loan), and the owners mix and match as they see fit and that can't be sustainable or beneficial to consistency or cohesion in the long run.
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 And in the extreme case, could Manchester United still miss out on Europa League qualification? That is, should they actually lose against Bournemouth and West Ham and/or Southampton win their last game of the season. Plus, they'd have to lose the FA Cup final, as well.
brookfox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Pochetino urges Spurs to buy... http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/10281568/mauricio-pochettino-tells-tottenham-to-buy-this-summer Yeah because it was all of our big money signings that won us the league! Going to be some interesting conversations between managers and chairman this summer. Unfortunately I can't see it changing anything and wouldn't be surprised if at least 4 clubs don't blow £100m+.
Gerard Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Derby 0 Hull 3 Another season they won't get mentioned on this thread.

Heard a Liverpool fan on 606 earlier in the season saying that they needed to spend around £200m to get back to where they want to be, i.e where we are You'd think this season would be the wake up call to clubs and fans that it's not how much you spend, it's what you buy. A player could cost £50m or he could be free, but as long as he's the right player for the style you want to play then it's a good buy. Do they not see teams like Man City spending around £30m on Bony because he scored a lot at a team who play a totally different style?
MC Prussian Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Derby 0 Hull 3 Another season they won't get mentioned on this thread. Well, it's because this is the current season thread and you just mentioned them. Bit of a 'mare here?

Spurs dont have any debt though? They dont buy the league. They arent cheats. Wheres that spurs fan gone? Tossers.

To be fair, bigger clubs pay more money, because smaller clubs know they have the cash. Next season, we'll likely be paying more, even if we go routing around the France's second division again. Although I agree simply splashing the cash around won't win you shit by itself.
whetstonefox Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 The 'big clubs' Man Utd,Chelsea , Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all expecting to be challenging for the title next year. There are going to be some seriously disappointed fans next season as I'd also expect another couple of clubs possibly West Ham and Southampton to spring a surprise, and who knows what we may do! They can't all just throw money at it, going to be a test of good managers.
rmahrez Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 This transfer window is going to be the most entertaining in years. Every team will have shedloads of cash to spend becaause of the new TV deal, and add on top of that the fact that many of the top teams need a rebuild or at least significant strengthening to meet expectations. Spending should go through the roof. Add to that the fact we can attract better players due to a mass influx of cash from the CL and our status as PL champions, it should be great to watch.
Super_horns Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Looks like Joey Barton is going to Rangers on a free. Be a loss for Burnley. Probably annoyed they forgot his Championship medal!
Matt Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Looks like Joey Barton is going to Rangers on a free. Be a loss for Burnley. Probably annoyed they forgot his Championship medal! Quality player, always rated him. Shame his head/attitude has let him down throughout his career, think he has matured now though - said good things about Leicester too! He's far too good for Scotland even if his career is getting on.
MC Prussian Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Radamel Falcao to return to Monaco for next season, as Chelsea have decided against activating the purchase option: http://www.sportskeeda.com/football/radamel-falcao-will-return-monaco-after-chelsea-refuse-exercise-purchase-option Twelve games played, one goal.
Donut Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Whats this Joey Barton love in all of a sudden? the guys fecking useless and his attitude speaks for itself.
StanSP Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Old Trafford being evacuated. An incident been reported which authorities dealing with.
marko Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Strange scenes at Old Trafford - half the ground's been evacuated.
Jimothy Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 I'm assuming the kick off being delayed at Old Trafford mean the kick off in all the other games, or at least at Swansea will be.
FireFox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Fvcking ridiculous if Man City somehow lose and United know ahead at half time and it motivated them to win. Would love it to happen though.
Matt Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Old Trafford being evacuated. An incident been reported which authorities dealing with. Strange scenes at Old Trafford - half the ground's been evacuated. Will this effect the other games? Because they're all supposed to kick off at the same time? Perhaps just hold the Man City game back - That's the only thing that can be effected really isn't it?
FireFox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 They surely can't delay the Man City game. The players are all ready.
