Corky Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 If Everton don't sack Martinez they will go down next year. They are a ****ing shambles. Sunderland have done it again they are absolutely ridiculous at it. Watford have basically given up since January and still have the same points as Everton
Kendal Fox Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 It just makes our escape that much more remarkable when you consider we had 19 points with 9 games left to play and Newcastle had 25 points with the same number of games left but still couldn't keep it in their own hands.Big Nigel deserves credit for a lot of things but that particular area leaps out hugely at the moment.
ajthefox Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 Interesting to see if Allardyce manages to progress with Sunderland next season.
jammie82uk Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 The crazy thing about Sunderland surviving is At the end of Sunday's games Sunderland will have spent 4 days longer (237) in the bottom 3 then villa (233)
ealingfox Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 Whos got that post from the Norwich fan from earlier in the season about how they were better than us and that they would beat us with their sophisticated brand of footy
what? Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 If Everton don't sack Martinez they will go down next year. They are a ****ing shambles. Sunderland have done it again they are absolutely ridiculous at it. Martinez out, Benitez in? The Guardian podcast seemed to think it was an outside possibility. He could do a decent job with all that (currently) wasted talent.
Dan Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 Could we have a bid for Lukaku.Mind you I have no idea what he is like or whether he would fit in our set up... Straight out the door. He's a weird one. A good goalscorer but not a lot else. Another Yakubu.
Dan Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 West Ham are playing for Europa League. Our game is meaningless. I'd say that's just as meaningless after their appalling attitude to it this season.
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2016 Posted 11 May 2016 I'd say that's just as meaningless after their appalling attitude to it this season. both them and southampton have lost the plot with the europa league. bilic and a few west ham players as well as a few southampton players have all said recently that european football would be amazing. bilic said it'd be their way to sign good players and become a big club or something. both teams had europa league football this year?! just couldn't be arsed with it and have then spent a 38 game season trying to get it back. bizarre. i think it was steven davies in an interview for saints the other day who said something like "the lads would love to be in europe, for most of us we've never been in european football competitions before". they were literally in european football THIS SEASON. not to add, they're both going to finish above liverpool and have both beaten liverpool this season, the same liverpool who are probably going to win the europa league. imagine if either had tried back in august...
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Watching Sunderland celebrate like they've won the league was a bit underwhelming. They've not progressed one jot from last season and have done what they have been doing for years - change manager mid season, scrape through with a game to spare. Its really pathetic that they are still struggling like this year after year. I have a feeling now they've survived they'll be much better next season. That team has a lot of fight in it. Big Sam again.
StanSP Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Whos got that post from the Norwich fan from earlier in the season about how they were better than us and that they would beat us with their sophisticated brand of footy It's in the 'do they mean us' thread
Raw Dykes Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Whos got that post from the Norwich fan from earlier in the season about how they were better than us and that they would beat us with their sophisticated brand of footy It's in the 'do they mean us' thread I'd love to read that again. Tried to find it but couldn't. Can anyone remember anything about it that might make it easier to find? Like roughly when it was, or any words they used?

Raw Dykes Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 It was posted just yesterday dude. Page 553 near the bottom. Thanks. Just found it, anyway. Just read this from a Norwich fan. It should also be noted that Leicester, Palace and West Ham are all uncomplicated, expensive counter attacking teams. There's nothing special about any of them, they just use what they've got and look naff in every game they play. Surrendering possession and avoiding playing football in favour of results. Cool good for them, but we're better. Out much deeper and more sophisticated approach however should be applauded. When we beat Leicester tomorrow we'll be amongst the best of the rest without resorting to being a deep lying pacy counter attacking team with no other way to play. No other lower half team would appreciate Howson or accommodate Hoolahan in their team which says a lot about their incredibly basic set ups. It's so important that we have an exceptional manager like AN because we can't compete financially. If it was up to me I'd say screw the player/stadium budget and pay AN more than he could get anywhere else because his intelligence and tactical nous is absolutely pivotal to our survival Yes that's right, Norwich! Delusions of grandeur anyone?
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 The Newcastle fans must be fuming that the wally wasn't sacked sooner. They've spent the bulk of the season in the bottom three and it was obvious (to anyone looking) he was taking them backwards. If Rafa leaves, they need to stop pissing about and get Nigel Pearson at the club.
kingcarr21 Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Wow Everton really are awful under Martinez. Embarrassing. Congrats to Sunderland They got the job done again. Think they might be ok next season with Big Sam. Newcastle back in the Championship is hilarious. Benitez is a quality coach and im sure if he came in earlier Newcastle would be safe. Cant see him staying now. Surely its made for Pearson. He would sort the shit out. Norwich are a decent outfit but lack a goal scorer. Relying on Jerome for goals in the prem is a recipe for disaster. Final games of the season not too exciting now. Be surprised if Man City don't finish the job.

Whether he'd want to work under Ashley, I don't know.
kingcarr21 Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Frank De Boer has left Ajax. Martinez replacement surely ??

Whether he'd want to work under Ashley, I don't know. I'm not sure 'everyone else' could see it mate? There were quite a few on here who thought he'd turn it around. Maclaren can talk a good game (like Martinez can), but it was clear he was clueless with Newcastle.
WigstonWanderer Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Pleased for big Sam. Seems a real football character. Glad he's kept his record intact. After Pearson was sacked I was hoping he might take charge & save us!
Tuna Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 I should say that although I criticize Sunderland, I'll not say a bad word about Big Sam. One of football's best characters and he's very good at what he does. As for Norwich, they deserve to go down. Their strikeforce is one of the worst in prem history - Bamford, Embo Carney, Jerome and Naismith & previously Hooper. Just woeful.
foxfanazer Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Yeah happy for Sam, always liked him. Living in Norfolk and the Norwich fans I know are so delusional!

I was about to reply that you'd missed Mbokani, then I realised
Mark_w Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Apologies if this is a silly question but if Newcastle and Norwich get the same result on the final day (and so finish level on points, GD, goals scored and conceded) will they have to play a play-off match even though they're both down already?
