Novelty fact:

Going into the final match of the season, only 3 clubs know what position they're going to finish in: Leicester, Sunderland & Villa.

If you looked in your crystal ball at the start of the season and told us that we'd all be like FFS.  :(

:D

Seems De Boer might take over Everton, hopefully he can replicate what Koeman has done at Southampton and get Everton back amongst the top six.

Why???????????

I hope they do a Newcastle and get relegated.

We could do without a successful Everton.

I'm a huge fan of Pearson, but I don't think the Everton job would suit him, at least in this moment in time. I don't think he'd be seriously considered for it, either. I expect chairmen of most established PL clubs would look at last season and remember the bizarre press conferences and the fact we were rock bottom for months, which is fair enough.

NP is tailor made for the Villa or Newcastle job. They've both been run into the ground, much like we had been when he arrived. NP's main strength is that he'll stop the rot, strip the paint back to bare metal, and put solid foundations in place (how's that for an analogy cocktail?). That's exactly what those two clubs need.

Sure, he has his limitations. He's no master tactician, and he's ultra-defensive with the press, but we've seen what he can do with a decent-sized club at its lowest ebb first hand.

I don't think Everton is anywhere near as far gone as Villa or Newcastle. I reckon they already have enough good players to do much better under a different manager.

Completely agree with this. If Newcastle lose Rafa and don't sign Pearson (and then just leave him to get on with it) then more fool them. Pearson and Everton don't fit imo.

Martinez epitomizes the modern day. Image over substance. He talks a good game but actually most of it is bull-shite. His teams and how he gets them performing is rarely anything akin to what he's saying in interviews etc.

I actually DONT think players like Lukaku and Barkley are over-rated footballers. I think they have the potential to be exceptional footballers. But not under Martinez. I'd like us to sign big Romelu. As a striker, I think he's got everything. But only in the right team, for the right manager AND for the right price.

Image over substance...a feature of the modern day..and Martinez. And also why those outside the LCFC community have grown to love us. We have turned it upside down. We are substance over image.

Completely agree pal. Martinez a style over substance type of manager and football is fufl of them these days.

This is why we cringe at clubs like Tottenham and West Ham who bang on about "their way". The West Ham way is such an embarrassing thing. I hope we never become like one of those deluded clubs. We as a club and fan base value winning first, style second, and I hope we never change and come out with shite like "The Leicester Way".

Martinez reminds me of Rodgers. Alright at middling clubs but anywhere with any aspirations of Europe shows up their limitations, especially in defence.

Sums it up perfectly..Martinez and LvG with his clip board, can sit down together, and analyse themselves, to oblivion..Will be interesting to see how , after this season, the stats freeks will get their teams to listen.

I for one, still believe in Claudios dream train. Both Spurs and City still have unfinished business,

There are some more image- over-substance types that will have the pundits and panelists, and media staying long time gobsmacked, without their own often mentioned plan 'B'.

I agree Col

I'm still staggered we are CHAMPIONS but we have earnt that title through damn hard work and a fair sprinkle of talent to say the least

The almost delusional positivity from Martinez after awful results and performances made the guy an absolute laughing stock.

not selling John stones cost Martinez his job. he could've had loads of money to spend on good defenders but had to try and prove a point that Everton weren't a selling club, and after not selling him then had to play an awful player most the season. got it so badly wrong and has paid for it all season long.

he does seem like a nice guy but he isn't very good at football management, really.

That's the kind of job he needs.

He was fortunate here to have an owner with the vision and patience to let him do that. We also saw what he was doing and were mostly allowing him to get on with the job with little pressure.

That's what needs to happen with Newcastle and Villa but Ashley, Lerner and their fans just wouldn't give him the time to do it his way.

Flores gone, which is baffling. Watford have been lucky a few times with managerial appointments, they can't keep on getting it right

To be fair, as good as they were at the start of the season, they've been just as poor towards the end. Goals dried up and they started shipping a few more, there's been talk of him leaving all year, so I suppose the recent results just added fuel to the fire.

You do fear for Watford if they kept him on. Next season could have started off badly after the way they are ending this season. Still think its very harsh but look what happened with Southampton when they got rid of Adkins and brought in Pochettino. Watford may very well get it right again and bring in a manager who can take them to the next level

I think he did a really good job to create a team capable of staying up in the PL in a very short space of time. If he'd done a Pearson and just stayed up at the end of the season, no way he'd be getting the sack - Watford should be thrilled with where they have finished...!

With the quality that was in that squad I think staying up was a minimum!

People were predicting relegation for Southampton, West Ham and Leicester when Adkins, Allardyce and Pearson all got sacked. Look at all 3 clubs now.

Watford will make the right appointment and will be just fine next season.

Its pretty shocking that Newcastle have been relegated cant believe they gave that tool Mclaren all that money to spend! He is a Championship manager at best, They are a massive club with die hard fans (betting they still get 50k fans a week in the championship) hopefully they bounce back quickly but this kinda reminds me of the Peter Taylor situation at Leicester look how long it took us to recover from that.

The whole management behind the scenes is a complete joke Mike Ashley hasn't a clue and if he doesn't move on I fear they may struggle for a few years to rebuild, With the players leaving I don't even think any have proven that they care enough to get a transfer to a Prem team they should just stay where they are or piss of abroad

Watford had a great start to the season they where flying and took there foot off the gas, they are not a big club so can't see them getting a big name manager maybe Neville would be a good shout I think he has the talent to be a good manager but when you go to a country where you don't speak the language as your first job its a hell of a ask
