sphericalfox Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 If we sell Schlupp, and I hope we don't, we now have Fuchs. If we brought in Robbie Brady, on a free as a backup. Currently plying his trade as LWB for Ireland. He's the left-sided equivalent of Albrighton, but he's actually a better crosser of the ball. He's not as fast as Schlupp, but he has good feet, and is as fast if not faster than Albrighton again. Take the money and invest it somewhere else in the squad if it's just impossible to turn it down.

Because he's no where near albrightons level he's a good player thou Id be happy if we got him
LCCFox96 Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 If we brought in Robbie Brady, on a free as a backup. Brady isn't available on free. He's still under contract at Hull till next summer.

sphericalfox Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Brady isn't available on free. He's still under contract at Hull till next summer. I assumed his was on a free, my bad. Worth a punt if Schlupp goes. Pearson likes him, he brought him to Hull in the first place.

Babylon Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Brady is an excellent crosser but I'm not sure how anyone could say one is better then the other with confidence. But if you were going to choose look at the stats, they all weigh heavily in Albrightons favour. He played 700 minutes less and either pretty much matches or bests Brady.
katieakita Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Thought the idea was to improve the squad and Jeff will only improve, Fuchs hopefully has come in to take the place of konch and give the squad more strength in depth.
Strokes Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 I would be happy to take Brady, he is technically very good and would fit in quite well here.

I would argue that the last year neither of them have played the same position equally to be able to make that true comparison. I think that Albrighton is good, but under Fuchs, Brady could improve, yet this is all speculation, and only if Schlupp leaves/sold. I think Schlupp could improve under Fuchs too don't get me wrong, and as I've said I'd like to hold onto him, but if an offer comes along that the club feel is acceptable then I don't think Brady would be a bad shout. My only concern is that we'd still be short at LB if Konchesky and Schlupp both go.
Spiritwalker Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 I guess this depends on Jeff, if he wants to go then he will go, if he wants to stay then I don't think we would sell unless we got a ridiculous offer in excess of 10m.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Brady is a player I've always rated. I think Schlupp will become almost irreplaceable though. I'm that confident about him. I wouldn't sell him for ten million quid.
shailen Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 I honestly would not sell him for less than 20 million, which no one will pay for him right now. He has all the physical attributes. All he needs is to improve his first touch and I think that his game will be complete. He has a lot of time on his side, and remember this is really his first full season with us. He can only get better and I cannot wait to see how good he can be. Working on that pre-season and we have a top quality player in Schlupp. Finally an academy player that has lived up to the hype.

That, along with his shooting, crossing at a minimum. His assists and chances created stats are poor compared to Mahrez and Albrighton, needs a much better final ball to ever take his game to the next level.

His first touch at times have been shocking this season. I think this is his major flaw into becoming a top top quality player. Crossing has been decent for me this season, that ball for Ulloa earlier on this season was fantastic. Shooting has been hit and miss but no worse than any other player. Think he's remembered more for that miss against Everton if anything whereas the goals against QPR and Liverpool were fantastic. Obviously, he's got little things to improve on as every other player but the major flaw currently for me is his first touch. Improve this and he will look a quality player for us.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 £10m? Triple it and you'd consider it. This lad is a hugely important player for us, you won't find a player with the power and pace of Jeff for £10m so absolutely no way on earth we should sell him for anything like that price.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 The 'Yaya Toure' of left-back. I've heard it all, don't get me wrong Jeff is a promising young lad. But the way people are talking about him on here is ridiculous. I personally don't think we have any concern about losing him this year. He's only had one full season as first choice left back & has only ever played one year in the prem. he also isn't an established international player yet so I personally think it's safe to say we Can wait for atleast another year or two until we seriously talk about the clubs like arsenal chasing him. This Is purely his agent trying to bumper up his clients pay cheque.
Lambert09 Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 I think the point people are making is pretty simple: He has improved massively this season, more so then anyone else in the squad. He is still very young and has plenty of time to improve the finer aspects of his game, if he continues this level of progression we could have a diamond on our hands. We dont need the money! So why is being ambitious enough to want to keep hold of our promising players getting too carried away? Of course we should only be willing to sell for outrageous amounts. Or do you lack that ambition and think we should snap their hands off at a reasonable fee now and ignore what we want to accomplish in the future?

CharlieCharles Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 £20M, and you would not sell? he is good but has probably valued himself at 5M going on this season. possibly 7M at a push.

Yes his one cross early in the season was great... the rest not so much. That's why he's got so few assits, he gets himself into some great positions and fails to capitalise.

That's why he's got so few assits, he gets himself into some great positions and fails to capitalise.Don't forget the bit about the striker (or oncoming midfielder) being in the right position to convert the 'assist'.It takes two to tango, kinda thing. I saw Schlupp getting in behind full backs and cutting back (he does that quite well) some lovely crosses toward the edge of the penalty area to find no-one attacking them. I suggest if he was playing in a side where our midfield got forward more to take chances, his assists total would be increased. I always thought that of Lloyd Dyer. Much maligned for his 'final product' but often actually too quick for any of his own team mates to keep up with him. Similar with Jeff sometimes.
conLAD logan Posted 8 June 2015 Posted 8 June 2015 As someone mentioned earlier just imagine if when he's got a clear sight on goal from The left side angle that he could either a) look up and pick out the right pass or b) have the composure to drill it across the keeper rather than somehow hitting it into the side netting! Really hope it's something he'll be working on next year as he had those chances every game due to his pace. He's got all the physical attributes Which means he'll always be good enough for us but with experience and added composure he'll be far too good for us. i don't think we'd sell him unless we were offered over 10 million which would be far too good to refuse considering what he's only done in his career so far, but we are at the moment financially strong enough to not need to sell him and I also can't imagine he wants to leave just yet anyways!
