MC Prussian Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 And people say Jamie Vardy has had a meteoric rise. A year ago Suarez was playing Liverpool, and here he is lifting the Champions League. https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?in_reply_to=607292327070199808&original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fsabotagetimes.com%2Ffootball%2Fleicester-fans-react-on-twitter-as-vardy-makes-england-debut&tw_i=607292327070199808&tw_p=tweetembed
Zapp Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 have i missed something here? we're strolling through our group with ease putting in good performances along the way, but 1 naff attacking performance and suddenly we're a side not worth supporting? i dont have a problem with people not associating themselves as an england supporter, but its outrageous for those same people to come on here at the 1st sign of a fault and try to whip up some anti-england carp because they have a problem with the people who do want england to enjoy success.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Same old england, if we play any team that is remotely half decent and does not consist of part time dentists/football players we will get battered. Chuffed for Vardy mind. Lmao.. you are a true idiot... Vardy alone is better than the Irish lot... so..

Playing against shit and looking passable, England are far from convincing in qualifying but fortunate that the only team with even a shred of quality is Switzerland, who managed to match England for abysmal play when they met. People don't have a problem with those that want England to enjoy success - what they want is for England to have a go at having some success to enjoy, which won't come from playing Rooney (still living off his England performances under Sven and a couple of good seasons with Man Utd when Ronaldo was there), sterling (a one trick pony living off one good month in a team carried by Suarez), Barkley (not turned up for club or country in 18 months) and showing absolutely no invention or willingness to experiment

m4DD0gg Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Lmao.. you are a true idiot... Vardy alone is better than the Irish lot... so.. Wind your neck in numb nuts. Vardy has nothing to do with ireland. My comment is simple, if england play anyone half decent we will loose.....whether vardy is in the team or not. Turd.

Guest Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 I think Woy would benefit from playing the 2 Leicester England strikers in tandem. Nugent and Vardy to start against Slovenia
m4DD0gg Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 We've not lost since the WC, including Italy. You're obviously talking bollox. Yeh and look who we have played, most teams made up of very poor standard players. Italy was a friendly and they would have wiped the floor with us in a competitive match. Wait till the next euro's where we capitulate either in the group or first knock out stage.

So you're saying because it was a friendly Italy weren't trying but England should have beaten Ireland in a friendly?
m4DD0gg Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 So you're saying because it was a friendly Italy weren't trying but England should have beaten Ireland in a friendly? O_O Erm nope.
Webbo Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 O_O Erm nope. So what's your point? Italy would have won if it wasn't a friendly but England are crap because they didn't win a friendly?
m4DD0gg Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 So what's your point? Italy would have won if it wasn't a friendly but England are crap because they didn't win a friendly? My point is that england suck in a tournament environment as has been proven time and again since the 90's. Our qualifying groups are super easy except when we come up against some one like Poland and then its a struggle. I am quite sure we will smash our qualifying group, the press will get the country riled up, the super star generation of players (who lets be honest most have the hump they are not sat on the beach) will say the right things and then we will come up against a half decent team and loose.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 O_O Erm nope. Your football knowledge is well non-existent
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Made me stop and think why I reached the point of not watching England in friendly games. I quite fancied the game today and yet again was let down. I'll return to what I said I'd do. I still wonder whether England are going to be any good against better opposition. Hodgson bores me to distraction, he really does.
Matt Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 I've always watched England games, the friendlies during the season get on my tits and I understand we need them to try different things, get the players together, e.t.c, although we didn't 'try different things' today did we, bloody hell, why did it take so long for Woy to change things, why didn't he go with Vardy and Austin from the start to try something new, experiment abit. Anyway as I was saying I've always watched England games but since the Sven era I never get excited or feel up for England games, I jump on the bandwagon for tournaments but thats different. Today I was really excited and really up for an England game for the first time in well I can't really remember, mainly because of Vardy being included in the squad but today was such a let down and the first time i've genuinely thought why am I watching this shite? Why am I bothering? If it wasn't for the fact Vardy might come on (Which he did) i'd have turned the TV off and gone outside in the sun after about 20 - 30 minutes. It was pathetic today.
theessexfox Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 No point saying how comfortably we're sweeping through our group, we're incredibly dull to watch combined with being tame when it comes to the big games - tournaments. That equals a bad time to be an England supporter.
Rincewind Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Poor game. The coomentaters were trying to be kind and make excuses. Practice etc. But the fans had paid to see a game of football. If they wanted a practice game they should have played it behind closed doors. I was expecting Vardy to start or at least come on for the second half. I think he was mentioned as much as the time he was on as Rooney was in his spell. Both teams did enough not to lose. There was nothing special. I think I counted no more than three good moves, one being a back heel pass but nothing to get excited about. They mentioned that the highlights can be seen later. What a joy. I can see more studio chat happening than footage of the game. To think I went out to a pub for some atmosphere rather than staying at home to watch it.
Wymsey Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Will get hounded for this, but I think Rooney is past his best. Can't seem to control the ball well as he could and is not one of the fastest strikers anymore.
Stadt Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Pissing the group shouldn't be an excuse for such an abject performance , we seemingly have exciting players but they're shit for England, Roy's to blame.
Guest ttfn Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Will get hounded for this, but I think Rooney is past his best. Can see to control the ball well as he could and is not one of the fastest strikers anymore. Rooney's been past his best since 2010. He has abject games from time-to-time, reaching (low) levels of performance which would shame most semi-pros but generally speaking he's still a very good performer in the Premier League which is more than can be said for most of our players.
Leicesterpool Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 For me the problem with Woy is that he's good at clubs/nations with less expectation. I didn't moan when he was appointed for the Euro 2012, I felt at the time he was really the only choice considering he had international experience. However long term I wasn't sure, its just a shame that Fabio left when he did as I do feel he really pushed England forward. 2010 World Cup I didn't really want to blame him for, watching back at that tournament it seemed like the whole team was on a sulk, cause Capello wouldn't let them take there families. I think come the Euro 2012 I feel we would have at least reached the semi final under him. I didn't like how the players criticised Capello after he'd gone, it boiled down to the fact that they didn't like his strict approach and they may moan, but they forget under him we we're once ranked 3rd! Capello was treated like shit from both the Fa and players.
Rincewind Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Someone said in the pub that Rooney could finish Englands highest scorer above Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker without them acheiving much in the final stages of competitions.
