England v Ireland and Slovenia

Anyone see Claire Balding (sp) show? Gazza Stuart Pierce  and David Seaman were on. Gazza was  saying that when he stopped playing he was devastated as all he ever wanted to do was to play football. He said he struggles  to watch games now because it hurts to see the lack of passion in some players.

Normally an hour or so before kick off. I would, I should think the players will be more 'switched on' today. I pray. Dear god.

You seriously reckon Woy will be that bold to start with Austin? I can't see him making such a positive move.

I thought he [Woy] did a good job in the Euro's, we did better than anyone expected (Expectations were at an all time low though and probably still are) but since he's been useless and boring, last week was the final nail in the coffin as far as i'm concerned, friendly or not.

I'm normally a 'It's not the manager in the players fault' guy when it comes to lack of effort but he chooses the squad but fails to change anything/try different things.

Drop Sterling and play Vardy instead, and I'd agree with that.

Sterling is the more skilful - obviously - but his workrate isnt there at the minute and he needs to get his head sorted.

Walcott will put a shift in as he tries to get his place back permanently, and he's on good form at the moment. Rooney is England's best player on his day, and despite his performance last week I think he'll do very well today, and Austin will obviously want to make the most of it. Add Vardy to the mix and that's a very high-intensity front 4 which will cause Slovenia lots of problems, particularly with Wilshere and Henderson looking to push things forwards as well, and the support from the FBs.

Nope but if I was him I'd like to see Austin start, Rooney was shit up front on his own against Ireland, while poor support from Lallana & Sterling didn't help matters. Rooney has been playing behind a main striker whether it be Sturridge or Kane, so why not have the same with Austin.

What I find is he sticks with his favourites instead of going for in form players, yes he picked Vardy & Austin but he has also included players like Lallana, who quite frankly on this season's form shouldn't be in the squad. Off form players just don't help matters, the team then play in a negative manner because players like Milner & Lallana don't offer anything. If he starts players like Walcott, Vardy & Austin they offer something better, Walcott is in form, you can guarantee 100% from Vardy while Austin will want to make a statement. Even though he includes those players in his 23 man squad, he overlooks them in big matches & would rather stick with Lallana, Sterling, Rooney etc... when they might not be the best option.

Hopefully he is bold & brave tonight and goes for a line up similar to mine.

What possesses him to actually choose to play an out of form centre back at right back over an inform right back?

I'm trying to avoid jumping on the "he picks players because they play for Man Utd or Liverpool" bandwagon but it's seriously hard not to.

Well he continues to be a clueless cvnt.

Jones, Gibbs, Delph, Sterling & Townsend lol.

How the hell can he not start Clyne & Walcott.

I'd pick Townsend over Walcott at the minute. Townsend turns up for England far more than Walcott does.

I will be amazed if this isn't drab as hell. Under 2.5 a banker.

What a depressing team. What is andros townsend doing anywhere near a football pitch let alone an England starting XI
