Frank to be Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 In pre-season it is - the longer this takes the further behind we are when the new manager comes in if they want to change the tactics at all and they haven't had chance to train in it. We're two days into pre-season. They'll be doing fitness training for a couple of weeks regardless of whether a manager is in place or not. The sooner the better obviously, but it's nowhere near time to be saying things like the manager search is "dead in the water". These things take time to get right. For all we know they could be hammering out personal terms with someone as we speak.
Mark_from_USA Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Last few managerial appointments in the Prem: Tim Sherwood Tony Pulis John Carver Steve McClaren Dick Advocaat Alan Pardew Chris Ramsey Slavan Bilic Out of this list, maybe Bilic would have been a decent shout, the rest would have gotten the same comments as the names we are hearing. At this point I don't think I am complaining too much. We'll see how it ends up.
Dan Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 On what basis? We don't even know who's coming in yet! Get a grip lad. Ditto Precisely. We're going to be unprepared for a very winnable opening game. Forgive me but there is nothing that gives me optimism at this moment in time. I'm open to changing that, but I can't lie.
Walshy5 Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 I had me head in sand for a week, whats gone on ?Are you flexible enough to get get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Just want someone to get the job so this can all end...

The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2015 Author Posted 7 July 2015 It's hard to be either at the moment without a serious grasp of where the club will be going.
Dan Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 How can that equate to 'we're going down' Talk about bloody pessimism! Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Our preparation has taken a hit because of this. Not a shadow of a doubt.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2015 Author Posted 7 July 2015 it is a sad state when Col is among the positive ones
biggs Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 you throw something very unexpected and significant like this into the stability of the team and there will be negativity and pessimism from many fans, players and the like. Not knowing who's next in line and a season soon to start causes concern. I wouldn't say we're going down as I believe we have the players to keep us up. Just not happy with the timing of the sacking......getting off to a good start will require some quick bonding of players, managers and fans in the stands.
Mark_w Posted 7 July 2015 Posted 7 July 2015 Which, of course, means we'll get relegated. Without a doubt. I don't think many people really think we're guaranteed to go down (nor did Dan say that as far as I can tell). But surely you'd concede that with no manager in place (and based on the time it's taken it's starting to look unlikely that anyone was lined up before hand), after losing one who was very popular with the fans and players, a side that struggled last year is probably fairly likely to struggle again and probably to a greater extent?

Sly Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 I'm liking the average Leicester fans reaction to the Nogel Pearson sacking, to that of an English Cricket supporters dismay at Kevin Pietersen not getting called up to play in the Ashes. Ultimately if we start well, no one will care Nigel Pearson has gone. We are Leicester City supporters, we were before Nigel Pearson arrived, we will continue to be now that he has gone. People throw numbers around which statically, claiming Nigel was our best ever Manager. That he may be. Some argue he wasn't as successful as Martin O'Neill. Realistically, the achievements of both just created a bit of history, a challenge per day to the next Manager to improve upon. Football is a funny game at times. All business, no matter how big or small, sometimes chop perceived key staff in an approach to move forwards, expand, or venture into different areas. Does this always work, no, look at Apple, it took the return of the visionary Steve Jobs to save them. Hopefully Nigel Pearson isn't our Steve Jobs! Lastly I cling on to the principle that "The whole is more important, than the sum of it's parts". Let's get behind OUR team, support whoever we bring in (I'm praying for Jugen Klopp, I must be going crazy) and give them the support of the 12th man come the opening day of the season.
fox_favourite Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 I think they sacked our Nigel so when the new Football Manager comes out we feel less guilty in taking the club over.
Sly Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 I think they sacked our Nigel so when the new Football Manager comes out we feel less guilty in taking the club over. I've personally never felt overly worried about this as Leicester are generally Champions League winners within 3 years. If Inget lucky, I might do a clean sweep of Community Shield, Super Cup, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, World Club Championship within ten years. ....... shit, maybe I should slap this on my CV and send it to the club!!

Were you at all successful in the 1990s? If so you should intantly become the number 1 target.
Alf Bentley Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 The "optimists" seem to believe that critics of the sacking assume the outcome will be negative. Not so. It might work out very well. But it might not. A poker metaphor: If you are dealt a full house, you might opt to chuck your hand in and gamble on the final deal giving you 4 of a kind or a royal flush You might get it. But you'd be much more likely to get a pair or Jack-high. I'm a "glass half full" person, but am also realistic about how difficult it is to find a manager who will consistently take a football club forward. I don't think the "optimists" appreciate that in NP we had at least a full house, maybe with time even a royal flush. Sometimes improvement took time, there were bad patches and he wasn't universally popular. However, in his 5 full seasons his record reads: L1 champions; Championship play-offs (a massive over-achievement with that squad); Championship play-offs again; Championship champions; Miraculous escape from Premier League relegation (when the other 2 promotees went down)....all achieved while building a balanced, committed and entertaining squad. Any drama should reach its proper conclusion. Maybe that conclusion would have been that NP couldn't handle the "difficult 2nd season" in the Premier League. Maybe he'd have been unable to take the club higher and someone else can. Barring a miraculous return, we'll never know - though if he achieves such success elsewhere, we'll have a pretty good idea. Maybe there's an unrevealed justification for the sacking, or a cunning plan for the future. The longer we go without an appointment, the less likely that looks. It looks more like we've jacked in a full house and gambled on being dealt a royal flush. I'd now settle for a straight, even 3 of a kind.
RonnieTodger Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 On what basis? We don't even know who's coming in yet! Get a grip lad. Ditto On what basis are we staying up? It's not a dead certainty either way.
TrentFox Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 Based on what we seem to 'know', what seems irrefutable to me is that, by definition, we cannot be practising the tactics the new manager wants us to deploy in the coming season. Equally, we cannot be talking to the players the new manager wants to sign, or moving on the players the new manager deems surplus to requirements. All of our rivals are doing so. For a squad that is likely to be a bottom 8 squad, (my opinion), with every passing day of this fiasco, the odds on us being a bottom 3 squad shorten in my head. Even once an appointment is made, there is still the very likely scenario that many key members of the backroom team will depart, causing further upheaval and turbulence. Never has the phrase 'shooting oneself in the foot' seemed so apt. As a supporter, I cannot recall being more in need of some positive statement of direction from the club. Utterly depressing.
foxfanazer Posted 8 July 2015 Posted 8 July 2015 The longer the search for our new manager goes on the more my faith in the owners lessens. I just don't think they've got a clue about the actual footballing side of things. This isn't a big criticism of them because i think overall they've been great for us for numerous reasons.

The longer this goes on, the more I'm praying they just say it'll be as-you-were but Shakey as manager/caretaker and Kevin Phillips as assistant, or the other way around. Unlikely to upset the apple cart and playing style/team sheets similar to last year.
