i also have a direct line from my desk to the printer and a wheely chair so if the manager is out the office i pretend to be a curling stone and push myself off my desk, on my chair, and see how close i can get to the printer without hitting it. also sometimes whilst in motion rotate 180 degrees so i am facing the printer to collect my papers as they come out. if it wasn't for this game i have invented and play by myself i'd probably hate work.

Have you tried doing that whilst holding the handle that makes your chair go down? So you're spinning, gliding and changing height all at the same time. Makes its so much better on so many levels, literally.

I work as an engineer for Transport for London, spend all day travelling to tube and train stations trying to fix stuff. Had a few apprentices out with me recently but now been lumbered with a 2 day training course next week on becoming an apprentice mentor.

Distractions of being home...kids. wife. Sometimes its easier to deal with certa9n things in person. I like working from home if its like 1 or 2 days a week max.

The 5th or 6th tug results in a dry/congealed "happy ending".

By the time Homes Under The Hammer comes on, you're emitting blood...

Is this what Den does?

I'm a sales rep ( the only one)for a packaging company ,believe me its not as boring as it sounds. Can be a cardboard box or designing a pack for a 70k stereo with foam( there is a formula) that is then drop tested, that always makes me nervous.Majority of customers are like mates,so have a laugh, boss doesn't even ask where I'm going.Work from home once a week and the pays good.

Before that I was a Bank Manager.it was shite.Hated every minute near the end, long days, stress through others figures and an Area Manager who didn't like the truth, and I got paid less.

I absolutely love my job and everyday think I'm lucky.

What are the downs?

Lack of any social side to work, more difficult to progress in the company due to lack of face time, no one on hand to fix faulty laptop, mobile etc, feeling that if you're not always available by phone/email you're seen to be bunking off, the kids coming home from school at 3.30pm, the kids on school holidays, trying to explain why you can't work because the wifi is down again, and so on...

I'm an electrician but I mainly do fire alarms or intruder systems for this company. I like it, I travel all over the country and get paid a fair wage. I do have to do 24hr call out every so often, which is a big downside for me though.

I work in housing services in the public sector. It's pretty naff. It used to be more exciting as the service was a mess, so there was more to do.

We're a hell of a lot more efficient than we used to be, so my job has gotten pretty boring.

I'm actively job seeking. Had an interview earlier today for a business support (data reporting, performance management, etc) role after a gruelling excel test last week but pretty confident I fluffed it. I'll know tomorrow.

Pretty sure by now one or two of my city supporting Co workers have clocked who I am on here (hi, Andy.)

I am a sales support engineer for a company that provide specialist equipment to hospitals around the world. We are talking beds, therapy surfaces, cots etc.

Me personally I am responsible for any hospital north of Leicester that we are not currently contracted to so the work is varied in location.

It involves supplying new products, maintaining existing products and repairing faulty products. All very end stuff.

I enjoy my job because what I do helps out patients who can sometimes be seriously ill and our products give them huge benefits. It is fairly well paid basic with plenty of overtime and a good bonus quarterly performance dependant.

The bad sides are that I am responsible for the north of England and can often travel 500 miles in a day from one side to the other and driving tires me out as daft as it sounds although I do enjoy the driving cos I just whack me tunes on. Also I can sometimes get called out at weekends.

Data/Insight Analyst intern at a well-known telecoms company.

Great experience and the people in the team I'm in now are all sound, so it's fairly decent. Nothing too riveting, but I enjoy it and as I'm technically still a student it's nice to get an actual wage for once :D

Only there for 2 more days (officially) unless my contract gets extended. 12 months has flown by, then back to Lboro for final year :)

I work on a public sector website. Generally love it. Fantastic boss. Varied workload.

My only worries are that I like it so much that I've never pushed myself to see what else might be out there that I'd enjoy, but also that my skills aren't that transferable anyway. I've just fallen into this really rather than it being something I'm passionate about.

Been doing it for just over seven years now but pay has nearly doubled through various reshuffles and promotions in that time.

The people I work with are great.

Have you given up on writing or was it never an ambition to do it full time as a career?

Bit of both over the years. I did that Greatest Escape thing recently which I really enjoyed and had some great feedback and have been toying with the idea of doing a full season diary this season. It's too expensive to go to every single game though.

Might be able to start doing a bit of writing as part of my job which would be good.
