fleckneymike Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King has definitely benefitted from Cambiasso's presence because both are essentially readers of the game and passers of the ball. By that I mean people who can move the ball accurately and constructively in one-or-two touches whether under pressure or not - in other words the kind of players who are essential if we are to continue cope in in the Premiership. More than that, King has shown himself capable of improving and of maintaining the kind of balanced outlook under pressure that Pearson would have done well to have adopted cos it might have saved his job here. King's added a bit of steel and determination to his game. It seemed the effort of it - and a seemingly endless workload - might have cost him his sharp eye for a goal chance but there have been signs of that returning and, if so, his goals potential from central areas represent an important bonus at Premiership level because we need goals from other areas. I shouldn't even need to be arguing the case for King cos too many people have failed to recognise or acknowledge his ability ever since he came into the team. But managers have clearly appreciated him and understandably so given the number of games he's played, the rare success our club has enjoyed during his time as a first teamer and how pitifully he was missed when he stopped being a regular in the team, as adequately emphasised by the turn-around when he returned. King's not just a midfielder but a calm and clever potential goalscorer, a more than capable reinforcement in defensive dead-ball situations, a cool influence whenever we're under physical or psychological pressure, someone who can be relied on to retain possession when we need it and a guy who doesn't get sent-off or suspended when the going gets tough. With Ranieri regarded as a "passing" manager I'd imagine King would be the last player he'd want to be rid of whether he's in the starting line-up or on the bench. Cos, as the squad stands at present, he'd sure be one of the first on my retained list. And, yes, he does love the club. There's nothing contrived about Kingy. He's a managerial Godsend. What he said. That West Ham game summed it all up. King will score big goals in big matches.
ARM1968 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 No question. The King will not be leaving the building.
daddylonglegs Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 £1m? wat Reason I said such a low figure is because the way people describe him thats what they genuinely think he's worth. 'pearson's favourite, only passes backwards, too slow' - I'm not saying I think he's worth a million he's worth way more. How much would you say hes worth?? 5 mil?
daddylonglegs Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 if both his legs fell off I'd still say fvck off to 1 mill for him I completely agree but some people's attitude to him is ridiculous in that they think hes worth that !
Stevosevic Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Looking forward to seeing him in the Euros next summer as well. be a great experience for him I like him as a bloke and a footballer.

I'd say you'd be looking £4-5m as standard. He won't be sold with our current midfield though
ScouseFox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 What he said. That West Ham game summed it all up. King will score big goals in big matches. big game player extraordinaire. 08/09 - scunthorpe in league 1, scores winner 09/10 - bags vs derby, forest and cov (i think), scores the goal that gets us in the play offs, scores in the play offs 10/11 - made captain, scores vs derby and forest and cov again. scores in cup game vs man city 11/12 - scores vs leeds on Boxing Day 12/13 - scores at forest away to help us into the play offs. is better than all other 21 players on the pitch put together in play off second leg. 13/14 - lost his way a tad and wasn't first choice 14/15 - best player on the park in our first prem game for 10 years. scores goal to kickstart revival. scores clincher in 10/10 performance to get more vital points in the run in. is best player on the pitch in the game to confirm safety. legend.
Beliall Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 andy king is massively underrated. the more games he gets the better off we are.
Thracian Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Time to resurrect this Haha - he's even better than I thought!
Fox92 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Out of interest, is there anyone who would get rid of him now if we were offered say, a million? Bare in mind we have 2 fit central midfielders. A million!? He's worth more to the club than that. I hope he never leaves this football club. We do need a better quality central midfielder though. Keep saying it but we've only King, Drinkwater, Hammond, James (currently injured) and Cambiasso (dunno what's going on there). Regardless of Cambiasso, we need another quality midfielder.
jmono84 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 He's always annoyed me because I kno potentially he could be a key player for us but hasn't quite got there yet... I still think we've got the best years to come from him. I'm hoping he can fulfil his potential and become a Leicester legend for years to come!! Really respect the guy!!
ScouseFox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 away from how he's clearly one of the best, most important and most likeable men to ever play for us, i do have to say that i enjoy these threads. they come up every summer, usually a bit earlier than mid july tbf. he's never gonna be good enough for whatever level we're apparently going to reach next season according to the ****** we have for fans. then what do you know, he's always the one who steps up and does the business. because he's a king.
fleckneymike Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 The calm assuredness of those goals, not to mention his ability in the air, shows his value. James has 9 career goals in 129 games (5 for City in 99 games) Drinkwater 14 career goals in 206 games (11 for City in 138 games) King has 56 in 302 career and City games He's in our list of all time appearances and most goals, not bad for a lad who apparently goes missing.

Go ask your mom as she has reared one in her own light with you.....

richard80014 Posted 16 July 2015 Author Posted 16 July 2015 King should play every week, what a man. Nuge, King and Konch all clear favs of Pearson. Thankfully a quality manager now in place will hopefully pick the best players and not have the arrogance to stick with a losing team like Pearson did all too often. Some people on here seem to be very upset - never mind ....... must feel good being a keyboard warrior. If it gives them a little pleasure in their sad lives then so be it......... King will not start against Sunderland and his LCFC premiership days will be numbered without his surrogate dad in charge...
