richard80014 Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Now NP is no longer here to pick his favourite players will Kingy and Nugent get a look in next season. With a new class manager I can't that happening.
richard80014 Posted 15 July 2015 Author Posted 15 July 2015 Also the likes of Simpson and Konch will surely be history under a decent manager.
Xen Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Id hardly call either of them favourites... They both earned their places in the squad on merit - particularly King
richard80014 Posted 15 July 2015 Author Posted 15 July 2015 Id hardly call either of them favourites... They both earned their places in the squad on merit - particularly King Last few games he was ok but past 2-3 years he was nothing yet was always picked when fit. Clearly a fav as was the likes of Konch. Do people not see we only turned things around when NP finally stopped his arrogance of selection and finally played our strongest team.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 Do people not see we only turned things around when NP finally stopped his arrogance of selection and finally played our strongest team. Of which King was an important part, scoring two key goals.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 July 2015 Posted 15 July 2015 seems idiotic to get rid of King, seems very happy to be a squad player last season and has a genuine admiration of the club. More than pulled his weight when he was in the team too, one of the best in our boom period
richard80014 Posted 15 July 2015 Author Posted 15 July 2015 Of which King was an important part, scoring two key goals. Yes during his last 3 games he performed and I see that but the 40 odd previous games over 2 seasons he was poor yet was always picked. Can't question his loyalty and professionalism but was clearly a fav of NP seems idiotic to get rid of King, seems very happy to be a squad player last season and has a genuine admiration of the club. More than pulled his weight when he was in the team too, one of the best in our boom period He will be a decent squad player
Mark_w Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Now NP is no longer here to pick his favourite players will Kingy and Nugent get a look in next season. With a new class manager I can't that happening. What on Earth makes you think King or Nugent are Nigel's favourite players?
matty98 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 At the club currently King is our best CM who isn't injured so it would be ridiculous to get rid
Mark_w Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Yes during his last 3 games he performed and I see that but the 40 odd previous games over 2 seasons he was poor yet was always picked. That'll be why Drinkwater and James became the clear partnership in the Championship then? And were only broken up because of injury at the start of last season? Right, King was obviously Nigel's favourite then.
Ozwin Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King has worked his way in with every manager we've had. The guy's professionalism is obviously clear for all to see and that's why he's done so well for so long under countless managers.
kingfox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Think Drinkwater is the one who should be worried, King is more valuable than Drinkwater therefore I see King going nowhere. He was the better performer out of the two last season & he keeps possession better.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King didn't get picked often enough last season imho.
shailen Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 If anything SGE bought the best out of King so I'd think he may be better under CR because NP didn't really get that from King. He scored 15 goals in that season under Sven.
Grewks Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Saying king 'does nothing' is like criticizing michael carrick for 'not scoring enough goals'. He is our best all round midfielder.
emmpii8 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 How valuable is King? Go back to when Match of the day highlighted his partnership with Cambiasso. Stuck tight and covered the defence. Even before he was that one player who was up the pitch in the midst of it and again back in the defence. Proper box to box. He doesn't do anything spectacular generally but he does what players are supposed to do better than a lot
ozleicester Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Love King's dedication and apparent love for the club, his value at the end of last season was immeasurable..... but as with ALL players, if there is a better option then the manager will use that option. I didnt always agree with NPs selections, but i dont believe that managers pick players just because they are favourites, i believe that each position and player is judged as a part of the whole and any sensible manager selects the player that best fits the plan. A player that the manager knows, trusts and likes might get a 1 or 2 % advantage over another, but its a stupid manager that doesnt pick the side he feels is most likely to succeed.
benpicko Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King's worked his way back into the squad every time he's been briefly out of it, and I think and hope he'll continue to do that.
RedSoxUK Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 He's the MV ****ing P is our King. He epitomises what it's like to be a Leicester player, a servant to the club, to the fans, to the city. Worked his way up from the youth academy, in his first professional season he coped as a youth player under Martin Allen, Gary Megson, and Ian Holloway - and that was when he was 18. The only Leicester City player EVER, to play in three different divisions as a Leicester City player (I believe? unlucky Logan,) and he did this while improving as a player, while adjusting to League One, adjusting to the Championship, adjusting to the Premiership - and he seemed to did it comfortably each and every time. He may not be the 38 game starter we need, he's not good enough to do it, but he won't complain if Cambiasso is keeping him out, just as he didn't complain when James Wesolowski kept him out. He has the patience to wait until he's called in to duty, and he always seems to impress no matter the situation. Hope he becomes a one club man, we need him. - As for his future, he just signed a 4 year contract in 2014 and wants to stay at Leicester his entire career, this true professional finds a way to constantly get his name mentioned every season and he warrants it. For Ranieri? I'm pretty sure King was a youth player / academy product when CR was at Chelsea, likewise Steve Walsh was a scout while King was with Chelsea. Perhaps they didn't cross paths, but it gives King a hell of a lot more just being in the same organisation as the Head of Recruitment and manager 11+ years ago then the majority of the current squad.
Marie84 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King didn't get picked often enough last season imho. Fully agree with this... King is the best player we have in midfield apart from cambiasso who is still yet to sign.. To get rid of him would be devastating.. He works hard and actually wants to be here! He has said time again he would like to be a 1 club player for us and over 300 apps is nothing to overlooked. He has a good partnership with whoever he is with and seems to be well liked among the squad... As for nuge, he again loves being down here, works hard IMO he is the hardest worker in the squad- never stops running, never stops chasing the ball when he's on the pitch you know your gonna get a good shift out of him and seems happy to be a squad member. He ain't daft I'm sure he knows he's not no. 1 choice of striker to most... Again also well liked among the squad seems to get on well with all... Both Kingy and nuge would be in my starting 11.. You know what your getting with them both - 100% dedication and commitment. To get rid of either of them IMO would be a step backwards and have a poor effect

Paul Dickov was the only other player I think. Completely agree with your post by the way.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King was one of the best midfielders in the team last season, hardly put a foot wrong and popped up with a few goals. He is technically good, depending on who/how many come in... I think King will get a look in! Being named 'the tinker-man' would assume to me that he needs a lot of options... if he wants goals from Midfield, who would you rather have in CM than King? Unless he can get Drinkwater to step up, King is the best goal scoring midfielder we have. King stepped up better than most of the squad.
