Guest Col city fan Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 The reintroduction of King into the side last season coincided with the start of the great run. Wasn't it at West Brom? (Came on as a sub and helped turn the game) King has become one of my favourite City players. I think having Cambiasso around has improved his game. He's always been composed on the ball..now even more so. I really hope he stays and he plays.
st albans fox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Would have thought he would be one of the more pleased at the change of management and a potentially higher possession approach.
Foxhateram Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Dear me amother idiot with a short term memory. King has been invaluable to us over the last 5 years. He is a true professional, when out of the team he workd bloody hard to get back into it, he he is happy to work hard and wait for his chance. True professional is Andy. Great guy as well. As for his ability. He has cropped up with some of the most imprtant goals for this club over the last few years. He scored two vital ones nearby he end of this season, one of which you could argue saved our run. Others mention able are against Man City, against Chelsea and there are countless more. He is a box to box player, who is fantastic at mopping up and spreading the play quickly. .(see the training videos for great examples of this). He is crucially also great at being in the right place at the right time. True club legend! As for Nuge, top scorer in the championship season and amazing at linking up the play, someone created a statistics table about how nuge had loads of assists this season, that's what he is great at. He has been more of an AM for us in the letter part of last season, so really he should be judged on assists and link up play as apposed to goals. Finally Konch. Well I think he is passed it now. But he has been a great servant to the club. Nige didn't play him for most of the latter part of the season as schlupp played lwb. Hardly picking your favourites is it? Grow up.
LCFC FOX Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Drink water will either be one our best players under the new manager or the worst player in the team. How he starts next season will decide his future with us
ALC Fox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King has to be kept, really. He's been a great servant to the club, and he's loyal. He's also proved himself to be good enough as a Premier League squad player and was ultimately a crucial part of our survival. We're just not in a comfortable enough position to let King go. Even if we make a glut of new signings who can play centre-mid, we all know how quickly things can unravel in football. What if we start the season badly and the owners get rid of Ranieri in October? What if it takes weeks or a month or two to appoint a new manager mid-season? King is a source of stability and a solid pro. He's one of the go-to guys when things get tough. If things do go mightily wrong and we get relegated, he'll be the last off the sinking ship and would prove very useful when gunning for promotion again.
Mikey Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 That would be a bad, bad move as manager early on if CR was too get rid of King - a fans favourite. You can't overlook what King has done for us over the last 6/7 years. From when he scored that absolute screamer in his first season in the FA Cup against Sourhampton until now he's always popped up with crucial goals. Every time he's been out the team he's worked his way back in and performed. James and Drinkwater kept him out in 13/14 and rightly so but right now I'd say he's ahead of Drinkwater. I'd be fuming if we got rid of him.
CosbehFox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Anyone who was at Sunderland will tell you Kingy loves this club. He was immense that day.
ScouseFox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 fvck you for even suggesting we get rid. kingy is this club.
ARTY_FOX Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 If he got sold it would be a pretty poor decision imo...
Stevosevic Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King is currently our first CM on the team sheet Some people genuinely believe we could have 5 world class CMs and keep them happy. We need people like King at this club, good enough at this level but also not kicking up a fuzz when he has a period on the bench.
Babylon Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Yes during his last 3 games he performed and I see that but the 40 odd previous games over 2 seasons he was poor yet was always picked. He wasn't always picked at all, did you actually go to games. Last season James and Cambiasso were the preferred two, King was equal third choice with Drinkwater. Championship winning season the preferred pair were Drinkwater and James. Nugent as well has clearly been knocked down the pecking order several times since the end of the championship season and has so again by the looks of it this year.
indierich06 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Now NP is no longer here to pick his favourite players will Kingy and Nugent get a look in next season. With a new class manager I can't that happening. Is this a joke? After Cambiasso, Kingy is the best midfielder at this club. He's also one of most loyal and longest serving players we've had for a long time and IIRC he's our top scoring midfielder of all time, beating Muzzy Izzet. Personally, I've found that the people who don't rate King are generally people who know **** all about how the game is actually played.
lgfualol Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 I think our centre mids are the least worried about being replaced as we only have 3 of them.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King was part of our team for the best two runs of form we had, the start and the finish. I don't think he'll ever be first choice at this level but he's someone every manager will trust and be relied upon when called into the team. I think he'll flourish under ranieri to be honest.
MattyFromLE Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Not a chance. I think Kingy is highly underrated. Ranieri has said that he wants to keep some of the existing tactics from the latter part of last season - in which Kingy was pivotal in. Would be absolutely gutted to see him be pushed out.
Rob1742 Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Think the real risk to his future would be Morgan. Pearsons management style was geared around a Captain, who was a key communication link with the team. This guaranteed his place, even if he had a nightmare. It was key to Oearsin that his Captain / communication link was strong. Before Morgan you could go back to Oakley who everyone questioned why he was playing, but again he was the captain and key communication link. So Ranieri may not put so much emphasis on his captain and if this is the case Morgan's place may well be at risk
simon789us Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 King is a legend think drinkwater is more in danger than king
Dr The Singh Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Do we need people to keep the bench warm aswell guys!!
Babylon Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 How on earth has King suddenly become the "best" or "second best" midfielder at the club?? When did that happen
dylanlegend Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 No-one would pay more than 3million for AK so why sell him? As others have said highly underrated but i suppose it depends on what 'our Claudio thinks of him
davieG Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 When will people realise it's a squad game we don't just need 11 that are the best we need options. Players need to be able to offer something different we do not have any other players that offer what King and Nugent have. As for players being at risk well if the owners are serious about a top 6 to 10 spot then all our players are at risk even Huth and Cambiasso if he signs. There's always better players out there that's why we finished 15th.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 16 July 2015 Posted 16 July 2015 Saying king 'does nothing' is like criticizing michael carrick for 'not scoring enough goals'. He is our best all round midfielder. Look I'm not slating King, but last season (he did play well when picked when things picked up) you cannot say he was our best midfielder. He serves a purpose ONLY when he is allowed to roam forwards. Or do you mean he's the best now Cambis gone, James is injured, Drinky not good last season, Hammond is...well Hammond?

Keeping Morgan in at the time he was having nightmare after nightmare in games was a mistake by Pearson I believe.
