Leicester City have asked to take Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu on loan.

Manager Claudio Ranieri has turned to his former club for help as Leicester are struggling to reach agreement with other targets.

The 23-year-old Spaniard was signed by Chelsea from Barcelona in 2011 but has been loaned out to Valencia and Stuttgart.

He is keen to establish himself at a club and Leicester will look to make the deal permanent at the end of the season should they stay up.

Romeu signed a new contract with the Premier League champions last summer and has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester have yet to reach agreement with free agent Esteban Cambiasso while they N'Golo Kante of Caen is keen to join Marseille despite Leicester's £8m bid.

Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy, who moved to the club from Monaco in 2013, is another option but he also has other offers.

I like how he's going for players who have blatantly got a lot of ability but aren't being given a chance at the big clubs. He would be a fantastic acquisition IMO!

Also yeah I'd definitely take him. A decent (fairly proven) player who plays in the position we most need filling. I don't know whether they just do this for all their players but Barca put in a first come buy back option which to me shows that they thought he could be decent

Oriol Romeu is ready to quit Chelsea for good in the summer.

The Spanish midfielder, currently on loan at Stuttgart, has made just 15 league starts since arriving from Barcelona in 2011 and fears he is not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Romeu said: “In June I’ll speak with Chelsea to know their intentions.

“After two seasons on loan, the ideal would be settling into a club to get some stability. Every player needs continuity.”

If we could negotiate a permanent deal I would do be very happy - quality player would really add something to our midfield.

Any name we are linked to www.transfermarkt.co.uk is a good place to check out stats.

Could be a good signing, buy not loan for me.  Started 20 games for Stuttgart last season with no injuries.

Cambiasso doesn't want to sign for Ranieri! New targets don't want to sign for Ranieri! Bad times

You font know either of these things. Talking out yer @rse buddy.
