The Doctor Posted 28 July 2015 Share Posted 28 July 2015 Given the choice of a team going backwards and selling its best players, managed by Captain Bellend, or a team ending the season strongly, aiming for top half and europe within the length of a normal contract, managed by Claudio Ranieri? It's a no-brainer. Going to Villa after the way they've gone about the summer is a sign of criminal underambition.

ARM1968 Posted 28 July 2015 Share Posted 28 July 2015 We're not. They've got a bigger ground and a vastly better history. We are the pretenders. But if we want to be bigger then we need players like this and hopefully Ranieri will help.

Don't get the hate for Sherwood. He did a decent job at Spurs and Villa (so far) and both times it wasn't his squad. He'll keep Villa up next season, easily, in fact I'll go far to say they'll finish above us.
The Doctor Posted 28 July 2015 Share Posted 28 July 2015 We're no better than Villa. I don't know why people think we are It's not about who is better at the moment though, at the moment we're about level - lower mid to relegation battlers. However, which club is most likely to have the better future? It's got to be us, we're showing ambition in our signings, in our managerial appointments and in our approach to games. Villa have become satisfied with scraping survival, have lost their best players and are signing guff, as well as appointing it to the dugout as well. it's like the sunderland debate, we're not bigger than them at the moment, but when they're content to scrap 17th and show no desire to go further, who would want to go there? The Doctor Posted 28 July 2015 Share Posted 28 July 2015 Who also guided them to an FA Cup final. Getting past Blackpool, an utter shambles, Bournemouth, Us while we were doing our best to shoot ourselves in the foot, West Brom and Liverpool. They didn't face a tough match really until the quarters, arguably the semis.

Also don't forget that despite his high win ratio (skewed by his limited number of games) he only managed to beat one team above Tottenham whilst managing the highest spending team in the division that season. Kitchandro Posted 28 July 2015 Share Posted 28 July 2015 We're no better than Villa. I don't know why people think we are I don't think anyone's arguing we're bigger but we're certainly better. They tread water every year, they're going nowhere. We had a better squad last season and finished above them. We'd have been miles above them if we played to our strengths all season.
