Jordan Veretout

If we do they best be top drawer as we have enough already in my opinion. I wonder what would happen if Villa lob £15 million of their Benteke money at Vardy.....

I think we'll be all out for Austin but he'll go elsewhere.

Just squawka'd him. He looks really impressive when compared with N'golo, Mendy and Cambiasso, and is only 22. The only thing is his defensive score isn't so good but who cares about that

I'd suspect this is a replacement/competition for James, rather than a defensive midfielder.

It's good to see us going after more specialist central midfielders, rather than the tidy, fairly slow, all-rounder that Pearson preferred (with the exception of Cambiasso).

All the stats comparisons i've seen do not show Drinkwater in a good light at all from last season.

He looked well out of his depth. I can't believe King only created 4 chances. It'll be nice to have a pacey CM that can pick a pass.

Finally, finally, finally.

Wanted this kid last season then he signed a new contract, forward thinking midfielder but can play defensive & attacking.

66 key passes last season, James & Cambiasso combined had 70.

6 assists which is handy

72 chances created more than any of our midfielders last season.

Him & Mendy please.

Thanks, can you do another one with Kante, Mendy, Veretout, Aaron Ramsey and Jordan Henderson over 90 mins please?  :D

He played in every game fully apart from 25 mins in the whole season which would suggest he has a good engine.

I prefer my CM's to be dominant, high energy, tough tackling, quick and aware but also with the ability to drive forward with pace so out of the three I'd much prefer Kante. It's increasingly looking like the Kante deal is dead in the water though. Maybe if we sign Mendy and Veretout they can compliment each other?

I'd like to hear EarlBeaumonts view on how he rates all three players?

Probably unfair stats on Kante and Mendy though as they're more defensively minded than Veretout/Ramsey/Henderson. Veretout compares well though (obviously you could argue there's a difference in standard between Ligue 1 and the Prem)

Also what stats are key and which ones are irrelevant.

It's easy to look like a great passer when all you ever do is make a 10 yard pass back to a defender when other players are attempting to slide it through defences to make goal threatening chances.

I can't help thinking that Kante is the best of the lot as he makes a lot of tackles and offers something going forward whereas Mendy is primarily defensive and Veretout primarily offensive.

Given the choice if my very limited knowledge of all three players if I could pick two it would be Mendy & Kante.

Veretout is indeed a much more attacking profile. While Mendy and Kanté are quite similar and definite defensive midfielder, this guy is an attacking one. Very different from the two others, and all 3 in the best -25 midfielder in France last season (with Imbula to Porto for 25M€ and Kondogbia to Inter for 40). Maybe noot as goog as those txo, but definitely in the same league.
