Vardy's Punishment

Once more...it can be debated until the cows come home whether Vardy's comments were racist or not.

A seperately issue is his MANNER. He is a pro footballer, which involves acting with a modicum of decorum even when out socially in his own time. Rather than this angry tirade of abuse, he needs to control himself.

Personally, I think people in general need to control themselves when out on the lash. Not only footballers. There is nothing so unsightly and ridiculous as a person (male or female) becoming a complete nuisance because they lose control when under the influence. It leads to aggro, disturbance, doing stupid stuff, isn't funny and shows a person up as a tosser.

Go out, enjoy yourself, have a drink, have a laff..but do it in a way that doesn't make you so angry you want to kill someone!

Vardy has periodically been displayed as a little scrote. This video implies he still can be.

But I'm glad that he's apologised and hopefully we can move on. There has been more than enough adverse off - field publicity around the club recently.

Spot on. But for that reason, I think the punishment is proportionate, and hopefully that's the end of it.

The hyperbole was meant mate.

Not literal...although sometimes it can be!

I really don't understand those saying that the club response is unsatisfactory! I can only assume that sacking Vardy is the only result they wanted from the club enquiry. Surely the whole point is to attempt to re-educate Vardy on his responsibilities as a Leicester City player and to get him to realise that actions have consequences. If he had been sacked do you think he would be unemployed or employed on less money? Do you think him being snapped up by another club, possibly on increased wages really would have any efffect? I certainly don't but I do see that it would leave Leicester City Football club short of a talented and effective player that may compromise their Premier league status before we even address the massive financial penalty that sacking him would have on the club, whilst giving a massive boost to the club signing him on a 'free'! If an ordinary member of the public is charged with an offence, and racism is an offence, then surely the hope is to rehabilitate the offender? Perhaps one of you can tell me who would 'learn a lesson' from sacking Jamie Vardy? As far as I can see it would only be Leicester City and us, the fans.

That is what he was doing, and normally does, the aggression came because of someone's own actions, he didn't get drunk and start spouting off at someone because they were Japanese. He was having a go at someone because he thought they were out of order, it is also clear that things were said back, the first time Vardy told him to walk on, it was calm yet firm, he didn't move and started to say something back that is why Vardy had to repeat himself and got a bit lairy.

Of course Vardy could have handled it better, you also have to ask why the casino didn't step in quickly to look after their wealthy high profile guests, the croupier must have seen something was up, and normally there is plenty of security around.

Too many overreactions on here for me. In no way to I condone what Vardy did, I was actually angry and frustrated by the incident as it felt like us fans were being dragged from one scandal to another.

People are saying that he wasn't punished enough are basing that on the sacking of the 3 young lads. I'm not the first to say, and I won't be the last, that the two incidents are immensely different, and require different punishments. Vardy's outburst is wrong and disappointing, but it's repairable. The Thai incident was different, it was much worse, and I genuinely believe that if Vardy Nugent and Drinkwater were the three involved, then they would have been dealt with in the same way. The club have got it spot on with both punishments.

It's done, dealt with, and we move on.

Agree with what the club have done, agree that Vardy was in the wrong...time to move on...

HOWEVER....

I think this race thing is getting a little bit over egged!

What if someone calls me a 'BRIT' instead of BRITISH.... do I get offended? Should I be offended?

JAP is short for Japanese is it not?

Much of the outrage is very modern.

Most reasonable supporters accept what he did was racist however we diminish ourselves by deciding that all crimes are equal. That does not mean one condones racism, much in the same way that viewing a driver doing 77 miles per hour on the motorway as less of a speeder than one doing 110 on a motorway. What he said was wrong, what he said showed a healthy degree of intollerance but by the same token what he did was not done to entertain others nor physically degrade the individual. To sack him would have been disproportionate, it was a measured response but by no means was it hypocritical, to claim it was diminishes the actions of those embroiled in the Thailan affair.

If you REALLY think that was all that happened I suggest you watch the video again.

I don't get you. You seem to want to argue with almost everything I write, sometimes sarcastically, then don't back it up with anything very much.

We, the English, didn't have much beef with the Japanese during WW2 so using the J word has very little historical or derogatory meaning here.

Jesus! What about the Brits killed in Burma by the Japanese or those subject to human experimentation in Harbin, China at the hands of Unit731......

Could you please not use these phrases as I find them offensive, derogatory and intimidating.  Shame on you.  :englandsmile4wf:

Everyone want to move on but whilst people are posting the 'should I be offended at being called Brit' or 'ooh, I suppose we cant call Inler Swiss in case its racist' we're not gonna.

If you cant be bothered to look up why the term 'jap' is offensive and want to continue in the ignorance that its just short for being Japanese then fine. But stop tweeting it and posting it on here so we can close the thread and concentrate on what looks to be a decent season coming up.

lol You said he wanted to kill him and you're saying I'm miles away fom the truth?

You're acting like he went over and punched the bloke (which would have been far worse than calling him a name). Get a grip.

Close the thread for **** sake.

Nobody will shut up about it until it's closed because some people on here ALWAYS have to have the last word.

Mods, what exactly is being achieved here by leaving this thread open?

I said I was purposefully using Hyperbole regarding the general comment about 'piss-heads'. Not that Vardy wanted to kill the fella! lol

I even stated I wasn't being literal, then you take it literally?

No worries. . I'm glad a line has been drawn under the whole nonsensical affair to be honest. Now watch him bag a brace at West Ham..
