Vardy's Punishment

Well, the club consider Vardy a valuable asset - it's no surprise they're clinging onto him and thus have "only" hit him with a considerable fine.

He's worth millions.

Different case with three stupid young lads on a work holiday, bragging about their misogynist and racist behaviour to the public.

Their market value combined is probably in the five- to six-digit region.

And therein lies the problem. Disappointed in the club for bottling it to be honest.

The issue is wider than what is good for us at this point in time.

Clubs/The FA need to start backing up their words with actions if they are serious about getting racism/sexism/homophobia out of the game.

Currently they are streets behind most industries, and so should be dealing out at least the same kind of punishments (i.e. sacking/banning) you would see in other industries. Given the high profile/privilege nature of the industry the point is even more pertinent.

How about the fact that the bloke was probably not even from Japan? Just lumping everyone with the term Jap because they are from that part of Asia.

oh I agree, I'm not saying his behaviour wasn't racist per se, I'm just commenting that I didn't know the term itself was racist. I could quite easily see myself saying something like "it's over there by that group of japs"

Not this shit again he acted like a idiot, said sorry got punished DONE . Like no ones ever acted like a knob . Get over it

You're a massive cretin if you think such issues can be swept aside broad brush by claiming he was just 'acting like a knob'

Diversity awareness course. Sounds like the South Park 'Tunnel of Predjudice' episode.

I think there's a number of posters on here that the club should book on the same diversity course.

****ing hell they'd have to do it like open training at the KP

Yes, I think that's a good outcome.

Now let's hope Vardy tones it down a bit and thinks before he mouths off.

Worried about the Christmas doo, now.

Who will be the next player to court controversy out of the game?

Wasyl. But he can do what he wants. I value my life.

Ok I'll admit can't be arsed to read through the whole thread but my initial reaction to the Thailand 3 get them away from our club now , and to Vardy big fine and slap on the wrist - the incidents are not on the same page really.

The first was on clubs time and money and far worse indisputable racial comments/ misogyny bragged about it thought it was clever funny etc. etc.

Vardy lost his cool with someone in his own time called him a unacceptable name apologised straight away film shared without his knowledge.

The punishment is spot on in both cases. No double standards. The right message has been sent IMO.

I think it's the correct move and the club haven't dragged it out to defend him but we seriously need a break from these controversies, hyped up or not. Players have to be careful, behave normally in public places because the media are going to jump down on any little incident now.

Shocking manners!!!! Imagine the uproar if we were called Brit's, we would be rioting in the streets. :scarf:

You sound a bit fishy to me.

Perhaps those who've clearly been on a brainwashing course and already have an "academic" nature.

So you're saying other Asians should be ashamed to be associated with Japs?

Racist.
