Great Boos Up Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 For not the usual mundane answers I thought I's ask what grounds/crowds stuck in your memory. I remember the old Cardiff Ninian Park stadium before the seats and being a little in awe at the sheer volume. I was most disappointed with the new Wembley. Not really near any nice places, no parking and no atmosphere. ( I was with a friend watching Gillingham)

katieakita Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Off the top of my head the Manor Ground at Oxford what a dump looked like Tenko.
Aus Fox Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Old Wembley cup finals. piss running down the stairs.... Ahh the memories... The sweet scent of success trickling down the steps towards the hallowed turf. How I miss the annual bus ride down the M1
David Guiza Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Kenilworth Road - Luton remains my worst. Like going to parents evening and being made to sit on the children's chairs. Oh and Luton isn't much better as a place.
BigMicky Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Off the top of my head the Manor Ground at Oxford what a dump looked like Tenko. Agreed, anyone there when 3 blokes climbed the floodlights?
Wortho Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Vicarage Road in the 70's was awful. I'm not sure it's a lot better now!! And the same goes for QPR.
StanSP Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Also going for Kenilworth Road. Absolute dump. Not too far off would be Madejski Stadium in Reading. If anyone thought our ground was (used to be) a soulless bowl then Reading is on a different level. Glad we won the game otherwise it would have been the worst ground ever I've been to. Best would be old Wembley - and seeing Leicester win there vs Tranmere after the previous year's loss vs Spurs. For League ground, I haven't been to many aways but Loftus Road stands out. Shame we lost that game I went to but really enjoyed the atmosphere from all parts of the ground.
filbertstreet Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Millwall's stadium is an absolute shithole or it used to be last time I went, can't imagine it's any better
AndWhat? Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Loved Ninian Park with that massive no mans area filled with police and netting. How I imagined the old days to have been like. Hate Coventry, the wrong fans just always seemed to turn up for that.
Northants Fox 3 Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Kenilworth Road - Luton remains my worst. Like going to parents evening and being made to sit on the children's chairs. Oh and Luton isn't much better as a place. I agree with this dreadful ground, I'll never forget the Toilet facilities when I went there, a length of guttering set at an angle.........Really??
purpleronnie Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 New Wembley for worst football experience, I didn't think it looked particulary impressive (you build it up in your mind) and the OTT stewards plus the 0 atmosphere meant it was a pretty dissapointing day. I suppose if I had seen the new wembley as a kid it would seem much more impressive. So it would be the older grounds when I was younger and not having experienced a lot of away grounds that stay with you. Although later on in the early 90's my first vist to the hawthroms at around 16 seemed very impressive. The away end seemed huge especially compared to filbert street.
DennisNedry Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Glanford Park (Scunthorpe) was pretty dreadful. It was a poor 0-0 which didn't help my impression of it. Hillsborough was good. Won 2-0 as well.
EastAnglianFox Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Stoke's old ground always used to intimidate me as a kid, some brilliant noise from both sets of fans. Apart from the play off's always remember us getting ripped apart by the likes of Stein, Gleghorn and Sheron.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Fratton park toilets take some beating nowadays
kingcarr21 Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Bloomfield Road, Blackpool. By far the worst ground ive been to. Absolute shitehole
Great Boos Up Posted 8 September 2015 Author Posted 8 September 2015 Agreed, anyone there when 3 blokes climbed the floodlights? Ha Ha, Yes the old slope of the Manor. I had moved to Leicester from Oxford and used go back down every few months. On that occasion I travelled down from Leicester on the bus to support Oxford and got beaten up. I think because I was travelling with Leicester but then had to swap entrances. Must have been late 80's Don't worry I converted years later when Matt Elliott came. Still have fond memories as it was a quirky little place.
oohaahmustafa Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Pretty sure that terrace at Peterborough had one urinal for 5000 people last time I went.
adam95581 Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Pretty sure that terrace at Peterborough had one urinal for 5000 people last time I went. "We piss where we want, we piss where we wantttt, we're Leicester City, we piss where we want" ....one of the funniest half times ever with 200+ blokes stood pissing up a wall!
Guest Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Elm Park - Reading's old ground. Worst I ever went to. Complete shithole. Greenery growing in the open air bogs which were just a wall with a drain below it. Think we drew 1-1. Neil Lewis might even have scored!
brisfox Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Worst ground ever... Harlow away in the cup replay. Grass terraces, wiz everywhere and we lost 0-1 Worst away ground was the Gallowgate End at Newcastle. Half time in the toilets with 6 inches of wiz, puke and Newcastle Brown Best ground for facilities is Arsenal, includes baby changing in the away end. Pity about the atmosphere Talking of Atmospheres, the best by a country mile........ The KIng Power Stadium!!!!
fox766 Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Sunderland away at roker park I think it was a open terrace and went to get a cuppa at half time and it was even colder inside as the wind blew through the stand. Froze my nuts off that day and I think a Paul Kerr penno got us a 1-1 draw.
One Legged Beaver Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 Pretty sure I still have scars on my shins after attempting to sit down at Loftus Road last season.
Gold Coast Fox Posted 8 September 2015 Posted 8 September 2015 hartlepools Victoria park on a cold Tuesday night during the league 1 season was pretty bad. Think we gave away the lead twice that night to draw 2-2.
