Bamba's Babes Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Drinkwater MOTM. Morgan runs him close.
Kitchandro Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Morgan was quality. Kante absolutely fantastic, the difference between him and Inler was that Kante slotted into the pace of the game no problem. Inler seemed taken by surprise by it. Albrighton and Okazaki didn't really turn up.
Kitchandro Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Agree about the Drinkwater love...he was nowhere to be seen first half. I'm surprised about the Schlupp ratings. At half time I was wishing Fuchs was on the bench because Jeff looked like the long trip to Africa had taken its toll... He kept giving the ball away and getting caught up field and out of position. Better second half from him but still say he's an attacking player and not a defender. Agree Inler was off the boil but also think he needs to be given a chance because he's far better than King and did win a lot of balls in the air. The way we play a lot of balls from defence with Vardy, Shinji, Drinkwater and Kante we will win ZERO balls in the air v Stoke so hopefully Ulloa starts or perhaps Inler and Kante? It's so frustrating watching him when this is so obvious. And Mahrez today again showed that he's a 'free role' player. 4-4-2 is not right for the players we have (neither is 4-5-1).
copunk Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Thought Morgan and drinkwater were outstanding today, inter defensively was sound, winning the ball back but his short passing and decision making was terrible, but he wasn't as bad as people have made out, kante looks like he's gonna be a real treat, he was literally everywhere, Dyer looked a threat, deserved his goal for having the balls to stick his head in a situation where it's the keepers ball every day, credit to Leo as well, looked sharp and up for it when he came on
ScouseFox Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 The Drinkwater rating's have really surprised me. I watched it with a couple of non-Leicester fans who thought he was abysmal. Second half he was a lot better but he gave the ball away a fair bit. motd doing stand out feature on how good drinkwater was today. think your friends are a bit thick bro.
Mikey Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Kasper - 6 De Laet - 5 Huth - 6 Morgan - 8 - Brilliant. Schlupp - 6 Mahrez - 8 - When he got into it in the second half he was unplayable. Drinkwater - 8 - Gave a masterclass in that second half. So good! Would have been a 9 but was fairly poor first half but probably our best player. Inler - 5 Albrighton - 6 Vardy - 7 Okazaki - 6 Subs: Kante - 8 Dyer & Ulloa - 7
dmayne7 Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 motd doing stand out feature on how good drinkwater was today. think your friends are a bit thick bro. And how many times have people slagged off Danny Murphy for his opinion on us and cried over the prospect of Big Sam taking over from Pearson. People love to pick and choose when the pundits are good. Drinky did a lot of good things as that highlighted but he also made some errors. Better than Inler but Kante looked a class above when he came on. Oh and these 2 guys I watched with are pretty intelligent so maybe not the best line to go down.

Dickov22 Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Kasper 6 Could do little about the goals De Laet 6 Bit exposed first half, but did ok Huth 6 Looked slow at times Morgan 8 Boss. He's been superb this season Schlupp 7 Got forward well at times Albrighton 5 Not his day today Inler 5 Looked off the pace, gave the ball away too much Drinkwater 9 Head and shoulders best on the field, even first half MOTM Mahrez 8 Glides around the pitch. Inspirational Vardy 8 Usual tenacious, pacey self. Great goal Okasaki 5 Think he took a bad knock Kante 8 Game changer- needs to start Dyer 7 Looked very decent Ulloa 7 Gave us the physical presence we'd been missing up front. I'd have brought him on earlier
mattw1 Posted 13 September 2015 Posted 13 September 2015 Schmeichel - 6 Not a huge amount to do apart from 2 brilliant strikes. Distribution average De Laet - 6 Shocking first half, not helped by Mahrez' total lack of willingness to help him out. Improved second half, took his goal well and did well going forward Huth- 6 Not confident on the ball, looked shaky at times but defended the high ball well. Morgan - 8 Towering performance, some key tackles and brought the ball into midfield very well. Schlupp - 7 Looked exposed at times first half, but so energetic in the second, always wanted to drive forward Mahrez - 9 Just edged drinkwater for MOTM for me, incredible flashes off skill throughout although overplayed it a few times. He struggled first half and failed to track his man. When moved inside looked unplayable, had a hand in all three goals. When he sat those three down, pfffffff Drinkwater 9 - The only player that could gain a reasonable amount of credit for his first half performance along with perhaps Morgan. Made some key tackles and looked very tidy second half, great assist for our second. Inler - 5 Although showing glimpses of a classy player, he played in his own time and gave the ball away far too many times, we improved when he was substituted. Albrighton - 6 Energetic and gave his all, things didn't quite go his way today though. Vardy - 8 Forever causing problems, never tired. A solid performance Okazaki - 5.5 Energetic but couldnt get into the game. Dyer 8 - Suits our style perfectly, so brave with the winner. Hardly put a foot wrong and caused a lot of problems for them. Kante 8.5 - This man is brilliant, how many tackles did he win?! Passing was great, got to start the next game for me. Ulloa - 7.5 - Thought he was excellent, contributed to attacks and is always a good presence in the box. Claudio - 9 Excellent substitutions, superb adaptability
MPH Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Looks like everyone can dig those Leicester shirts out that have dyer on the back.....
Dan Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Ranieri - Couldn't argue with the line-up, but serious questions have to be asked of the way we approached that first half. It was lethargic, it was predictable (it was literally just give it to Mahrez and see what he can do with it EVERY ****ING TIME), he made the right subs to be fair to the bloke but we live a bit too dangerously for my liking. It's great when it works like today but we got away with it in my opinion. Not many sides will be that awful defensively against us. He needs to stop trying to get us playing slow build-up, because it just isn't our game. Still, a decent score for the subs. 7 Schmeichel - I'm struggling to pick too much fault. First I think would've taken a class save and the second was absolutely unstoppable. Not a lot else to go off. 6 De Laet - First half he was absolutely embarrassing again. Second half was better, and took his goal well. Papers over the cracks a bit though because he's not cut out for this league. 6 Huth - Thought he yet again looked a bit iffy. Don't get me wrong I'm going off his usual standards which are very high, he wasn't poor, but he's making more silly mistakes this season. 6 Morgan - Thought Morgan had another very decent game and has been the pick of our defence so far this season. 7 Schlupp - Ranieri needs to let him get forward more from the off because he absolutely isn't the kind of player to play as a defensive full-back, he's not got the awareness and he plays off instinct. Nearly gave away a goal in the first half and was asleep for another. He attacked well towards the end though. 5 Inler - Said it in other threads but he looks a bit off the pace to me. He isn't a poor player but he's got some adapting to do to this league. Not enough of our fans appreciate how different a tempo it is from England to Italy. He'll come good. 5 Drinkwater - Thought he had a very good game, rightly praised on MOTD. Made some very smart passes, had a good all-round game. 8 Albrighton - Passenger. He isn't a left sided player. That Sunderland game has clouded the reality - he's a right winger who gets out wide and puts a cross in, he isn't as good at doing that on the left. 5 Mahrez - Over-reliant on him big time in the first half, but once again proved that he's adept in all attacking positions with a fantastic, match-winning second half. He is some talent. Pound for pound up there with the best deal we will ever make. 9 Okazaki - Not at the races again for me today. He's been a bit disappointing since the West Ham game. 5 Vardy - Awful first half, but a lot better second - no surprise that in the first half we didn't go for it and in the second we did. He's like Schlupp, he needs to play in an attacking side to be effective, he's useless if not. 7 --- Dyer - Exactly what I knew he'd be like. He was always one of the most eye-catching opposing players in the Championship and he's always looked good at Swansea. It's obvious why. Full of pace and energy, fair bit of trickery, intelligent runs and an all-round pest to Villa. I want this move making permanent already. 7 Kante - Thought he changed the game when he came on. More suited to our effective style of play, the ideal midfielder for it in-fact. Also full of energy, excellent at winning the ball back and good at releasing it quickly as well. He's a talent and will be an asset if used properly. 7 Ulloa - Thought he actually did pretty well when he came on, if not too spectacular. Good decision making. 6 --- Aston Villa - Thought they were alright but made to look better by our own ineptness. Easily better than they were a year ago, with a touch of quality too. They're in trouble however simply because of that defence, if we'd gone at them from the start we could've slaughtered them. A better side would've seen that out today. No excuses for falling apart like that. Teams will pick up on that. Hilarious watching Sherwood almost tearful the absolute smug tosser. I don't think Villa will go down but I think they'll be in for another poor season. They were however comfortably better than Sunderland. Similar to Bournemouth actually. 5 Referee - Not going to type out my full usual rant because I'm sick of typing it out. I just keep getting proven right every week. The standard is an absolute disgrace and some serious measures need putting in place to tackle it. What a joke of a performance yet again. 1

Some people just love to hate How you can anyone take anything away from Drinky today, he was superb. The first half he was carrying the midfield as Inler consistently screwed up, if it wasnt for him we would have been 3 or 4 down IMO.
Dickov22 Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I think people are being harsh on our first half performance. Got to hand it to Villa- they were excellent first half. Sometimes you have to credit the other team.
Steve Earle Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Drinky is back! MOTM, though Kante did more than most to change the game when he came on - both 8s Morgan, Mahrez, Vardy, Dyer - 7s 6s the rest save Shinji - 5 8 for the Tinkerman too - spot on tactical changes. Kante must start at Stoke...
Thracian Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Schmeichel 5.5. (Let two goals in and didn't inspire me with confidence in anything he did including his once commendable distribution. Mind you, apart from the goals, he had very little to do). De Laet 7 (Deserves a seven for the vital goal which gave us the heart to go on and win the match.). Morgan 7.5 (Our best defender over the 90 minutes). Huth 6 (Didn't even dominate in the air yesterday and was exposed by pace at times) . Schlupp 7 (Seemed shackled and lacking in concentration first half and made one woeful pass which could so easily have cost us a goal. Let off the leash second half and quickly showed our intent with a couple of early shots which helped establish the momentum we needed to recover). Albrighton 5 (Very little impact. Inler 5 (Did some good things defensively but took too much time on the ball. His passing was poor and he didn't show the urgency needed to track the runners). Drinkwater 7 (A mixed day, some good some bad). We lost control in midfield during the first half. I'm just grateful Villa took Gil off because he was given the freedom of the City at times). Mahrez 8 (Can be forgiven a lot given that he had a hand in all our three goals and never stopped asking questions. But, as others have said, he was far too greedy in the first half and we seemed to use him as our only attacking option which simply made Villa's job easier. Second half the whole side functioned and he was far more effective). Okazaki 5 (Much as against Spurs - he had very little impact and Ulloa's inclusion improved the situation markedly) . Vardy 7 (Not anywhere near his best for over an hour but the last quarter he got his goal, had a goodish shout for a penalty and became a constant nightmare to the tiring and increasingly stretched Villa defence. .SubsDyer 8 (Deserved his mark for scoring the winner so bravely but he made a difference generally helping to offer much greater threat and support). Kante 10 (His presence made all the difference. He'd be the first name on my teamsheet. His energy and determination was inspiring and lifted the team no end. More than that his constant movement offered passing options which had previously been missing). Ulloa 7 (Decent contribution and was much harder for Villa to deal with after the ineffectiveness of Okazaki).
Dan Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I think people are being harsh on our first half performance. Got to hand it to Villa- they were excellent first half. Sometimes you have to credit the other team. I do think they played well but I thought like Bournemouth we played into their hands by failing to press them and having seemingly only one option going forward. It looked to me like the entire plan was give it to Mahrez and see what he can do, and don't get me wrong he's a fantastic player but you stifle the element of surprise when you go through one player all half. The second half proved what a mistake it was to not get at them from the start - saying that I'm not a manager, and as a fan winning after being 0-2 down with 20 left will leave me more elated than winning say 3-0, so I'm not moaning. Just an observation. I think they'll stay up but their defending was frighteningly bad.
Bettsj2 Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Oh and these 2 guys I watched with are pretty intelligent so maybe not the best line to go down. Nah. Thick as pigshit.
RowlattsFox Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 I think people are being harsh on our first half performance. Got to hand it to Villa- they were excellent first half. Sometimes you have to credit the other team. Lescott and Richards were incredibly deep and it worked a treat, neither Vardy or Okazaki have the technique with their back to goal so it completely nullified us. Getting Mahrez central was the game changer.

Getting Mahrez central was the game changer. think ulloa did a great job too. didn't really do much at all but i think his introduction gave their centre halves something different to think about, we weren't just running at/in behind them anymore we had a different dimension. and it allowed mahrez/drinkwater more space and gave us a better foothold in the game and we all know what happened next. clever sub from ranieri.
ViewFromTheBox Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Some nice stats from week 5 of the Premier League. The words '...since 2015' will be used for years to come when talking about form
Corky Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Schmeichel- 6 (No chance with either goal, not a lot else to do) De Laet- 6 (Struggled massively in the first half, second was better, good goal) Huth- 6 (Not the dominant player he was last season) Morgan- 8 (Excellent, crucial interceptions, one fine tackle on Sinclair to stop him going through) Schlupp- 6 (Mixed, grew as the game went on) Mahrez- 8 (For 60 minutes he was pretty quiet. The last 30 he was immense) Drinkwater- 8 (Seemed more comfortable next to Kante, last 20 minutes he took control of the game) Inler- 5 (Poor distribution, good work off the ball but will improve in time) Albrighton- 6 (Worked hard but not as creative as usual) Okazaki- 5 (Never really in the game) Vardy- 7 (Never gave up against good defenders, so much energy, striker's finish) Subs- Dyer- 7 (Impressive. Brave header, positive running) Kante- 7 (Put Villa under constant pressure and it unsettled them, no coincedence we improved after he was brought on) Ulloa- 6 (Nothing particularly special but gave us an aerial presence up front)
80footgiraffe Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Claudio - 8 Make vital substitutions that changed the game Kasper - 6 Let in two great goals but ultimately solid RDL - 6 Awful first half but redeemed himself with a goal and some calm play in the second Huth - 5 Bad mistake for the goal, very average day Morgan - 7 Rallied at the back real captains performance and courage to come forward and take control Schlupp - 6 Dodgy moments but relatively solid stuff Albrighton - 5 Looked weak and every time he had a clear line to run he jogged. Drinkwater - 9 Fantastic Gerrard-esque performance, strong box to box play with high quality distribution. MOTM Inler - 5 Poor performance with short passing but understandably needs to get to grips with the pace of the division, long passing more accurate. Mahrez - 8 Very good performance, sometimes a bit too selfish and the ball got stuck under his feet, but ultimately worthy of the plaudits and hope he stays for years to come Okazaki - 4 Not really with the game, obviously lacking fitness, maybe time to give Kramaric a run out? Vardy - 7.5 A really solid fast performance worthy of his poacher's goal, pace was deadly as always SUBS Ulloa - 6 Held up the ball well but was quiet, did his job. Kante - 8 Pacey, nuisance with tackles and should start next week with drinkwater. Dyer - 8 Looked a little clumsy at times but shows real dedication to put his body on the line for the club. OPP Villa - 7 Played their game pretty well for about 70 mins, lost pace and energy afterwards
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 14 September 2015 Posted 14 September 2015 Schmeichel's decision making is very poor, we need better coaching for him and another keeper for competition, distribution is mostly average, He'sa good shot stopper but that is not enough, needs to command that box and ooze confidence to the defenders but looks the same as in the Championship.
