davieG Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 25 September 2015 Can Arsenal put a stop to Leicester's "Invincible" run? They're undefeated. They've scored more goals than most anyone else in the Prem to date. They beat West Ham, who beat us. The maths, in fact, look bleak. Arsenal 0-2 West Ham; West Ham 1-2 Leicester. Add in another 2-1 victory over West Ham in the League Cup, and the inescapable conclusion is that our visit to King Power on Saturday will end at 4-1 to the Foxes, if not worse. Now that that's settled, let's get down to the nitty-gritty details...Enough of that nonsense. As with a season ago, Leicester are off to a bright start—but they've had a bit of a softer start to things, what with wins over Sunderland (20th), West Ham (3rd), and Aston Villa (17th); and with draws with Stoke (18th), Bournemouth (14th), and Tottenham (9th). They are young, feisty, and optimistic, and they seem to never give up, if their fightback from 0-2 to win 3-2 over Aston Villa proves anything. Then again, the flipside to that is that they were down 0-2 to Aston Villa in the first place. which seems to symbolize Leicester's season to date.Between the two of them, Riyad Mahrez and James Vardy, both playing on the right of a 4-4-2, have scored nine of Leicester's 13 goals thus far, and we'd do well to negate them. Given their seemingly boundless energy, and they seem more than capable of scoring (something we at Arsenal might envy more than a little bit). However, if we can shut them down—and something tells me that Monreal, Gabriel, and Koscielny could do that, even if Coquelin isn't shielding them—we'll be more than halfway towards our goal.At the other end of things, we should seize the opportunity that the Foxes offer. They've kept one clean sheet in any competition since January (a 1-0 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup's third round) and seem every bit as generous as they are prolific. Only Chelsea, Norwich, and Sunderland have conceded more often than have the Foxes. Fresh off of victory at White Hart Lane (and basking in the reprieve granted to Gabriel), we should go into King Power knowing that we have to and should be able to seize all three. Unlike last weekend, these are the fixtures from which we simply can't afford to drop points.LAST THREE:Arsenal 2-1 Leicester (10.02.2015)Leicester 1-1 Arsenal (31.08.2014)Arsenal 2-1 Leicester (15.05.2004)FACTFILE:The two clubs first clashed on 1 August 1894, a 3-1 win to Leicester.Arsenal have not lost to Leicester in the last ten outings.Leicester have won five of their last six matches at home.INJURIES/BANSRosický, Welbeck, and Wilshere have all been ruled out; Coquelin faces a late fitness test. Cazorla returns from his one-match suspension, and Gabriel has had his three-match been lifted.POSSIBLE STARTING XIČech; Monreal, Gabriel, Koscielny, Bellerín; Flamini, Cazorla; Alexis, Özil, Ramsey; Walcott. This should be one in which Arsenal, leading the Prem in shots taken, finally starts to deliver some end-product.PREDICTIONLeicester 1-3 Arsenal
whoareyaaa Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 1 thing this game wont be is a draw imo both sides will be going for it I think, should be plenty of goals or can we keep our first clean sheet of the season and sneak a 1 nil win.
Westlife Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Don't think it'll be 3-1 . . . the way we're playing it'll be 3-3!
Captain... Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 One clean sheet since since Newcastle in the cup? I make it 7 ( not including the Newcastle game)

Wymsey Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Suspended for 1 game for failing to leave the field of play... Good, but it's quite a ridiculous suspension if it's just for that. Many players who get sent off have a word with for ref for a few minutes before actually leaving.

The gooners I know are not keen to see per up against JV.
Captain... Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Good, but it's quite a ridiculous suspension if it's just for that. Many players who get sent off have a word with for ref for a few minutes before actually leaving. Not really he was picking a fight with Oscar and wouldn't leave, there is a difference between protesting to the ref and kicking off.If Mertesacker is likely to play then I wouldn't play Ulloa, I would get Mahrez, Vardy and maybe Okazaki running at him. Koscielny will most likely pick up Vardy so that would leave Mahrez to target big Per, 4231 or 4411 or some such variation could work. Obviously I would go 532 because I love that formation but it doesn't seem Ranieri's formation.
leicesterseddon Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Was feeling optimistic earlier in the week, but feeling a bit more worried now. The one thing I'm really worried about is the fact that Arsenal are obviously going to dominate possession. We've struggled to get more than 35% of the ball against sides like West Ham or Tottenham, and I'd say there's a real possibility that we might be seeing even less of it tomorrow. For me, this means we've got to get a grip of the midfield. Realistically, it probably means playing three in the middle, but I'm not sure we'll stretch to that. In any case, Ranieri has shown a fondness for 4-4-2. However, Fuchs should be brought in to shore us up on the left, and Mahrez moved off the wing (where his defensive failings leave us exposed). Like the bloke in the video, I'd be tempted to play Mahrez in the centre again. Clearly, he offers us penetration rather than crossing. I'm tempted to play: Vardy Mahrez Schlupp Kante Inler Albrighton Fuchs Huth Morgan De Laet Schmeichel
Sharpe's Fox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 1 clean sheet since Jan? Villa Hull Swansea Burnley Newcastle Sunderland maybe more
KP Fox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 They had Paul Dickov in their team. Also noticed we had 11 English players and they had 9 with a Scot and Swede making up the 11. A bit different now. Yeah, very different! Twice this season we finished the match with 11 different nationalities.
biggs Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Who'd you swap him with? No one......he's never there anyways......you'll will find him jogging back after a run up the wing. Play 3 at the back as essentially with RDL that's what we have anyways except for the odd cameo appearance during the game.
UPinCarolina Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 If we win this weekend, I think it's safe to say the halcyon days are upon us.
Carl the Llama Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I forgot Rosicky played for Arsenal.
Carl the Llama Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Gabriel has been officially suspended btw so that's one less thing to worry about.
KP Fox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Big headache now for Ranieri. I think he will pick, Kasper De Laet Huth Morgan Fuchs Dyer/Albrighton Kante Drinkwater Schluup Mahrez Vardy More of a 4-5-1 with Mahrez given a free role. King will be shattered after the shift he put in last night. Have him on the bench. This is really hard to pick a team as alot of players deserve to play. My team Kasper Huth Morgan Benny Albrighton Kante Drinkwater Schluup Mahrez Ulloa Vardy King and Fuchs are pushing for a start so will look to bring them on at some point. Its the sort of game that Dodoo could come on and grab the headlines with the winning goal. Ulloa needs to play and support Vardy imo. I like the personnel in both formations. I think we'd give the gunners a run for their money with either system. One thing that interested me, why no Fuchs in your back 3? Don't you think he can play there?
AKCJ Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 ****ing hell... Ian Stringer on EMT.. They were talking about our unbeaten run and he pipes up with "It's got to end against Arsenal, hasn't it?". Could he be any more of a bellend?
parisianfox Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Come on Leicester, we have to win the match.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Happy with a good performance, were too leaky to win
Thracian Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 One of the Arsenal strengths is their movement off the ball and Inler's the last player I'd choose to deal with that.
Great Boos Up Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I'm tempted to play: Vardy Mahrez Schlupp Kante Inler Albrighton Fuchs Huth Morgan De Laet Schmeichel Your team is upside down or the Australian version and my OCD is going nuts. Sorry for deleting your insightful comments before your proposed formation this but your team is UPSIDE DOWN!
Swiper Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Your team is upside down or the Australian version and my OCD is going nuts. Sorry for deleting your insightful comments before your proposed formation this but your team is UPSIDE DOWN! Surely not. Vardy in goal and Kasper as the lone striker is a stroke of genius. Keep our opponents guessing!
