Larry_LCFC Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 This is just hilarious. People moan and bitch about Stringer, and then miss him when its not him on FoxesPlayer. Christ.
JonesLCFC Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 And people thought Matty Elliott couldn't co-summarise through fear of upsetting the powers that be he is associated with at the club. As Thracian says this is going to be such one sided commentary. Can you imagine Conrad Logan or Matty James ever saying one of their team mates is having a bad game or the manager has made a strange decision? And PLEASE GOD, spare us from Birchy commentating. FFS! This is a bad move IMO Difference is that this isn't claiming to be non-bias.
RizLCFC Posted 26 October 2015 Posted 26 October 2015 The commentary on FoxesPlayer is terrible, sounds just like Michael Owen.
jerakin Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 I've never moaned about Stringer, He isn't perfect, but remember what we had before. At least he seems to enjoy it.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 I already subscribe to Player (though I think I pay a little more than 10p a day. I hadn't been aware of this new initiative, but just logged on in the usual way last Saturday. Stringer wasn't the commentator (but dunno who), but i'm pretty sure Matty James was co-commentating. Can anyone clarify whether this was the new service and not radio Leicester? If so, long may it continue. I felt that I was kept far more up-to-date on what was happening on the pitch, as compared with Stringer's commentary technique. It was Chris Alcock with Matty James on Saturday. It was the first time the club have produced their own online service for Foxes Player. Tuesday night at Hull will be Conrad Logan alongside someone called Geoff Peters (who, he? ) Saturday at West Brom is Chris Coles and The Birch. They're alternating commentators and summarisers. I expect there'll be other summarisers used alongside these three as the season unfolds.
ozleicester Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 If at some point the club/foxesplayer land in the 21st century and provide a video stream of the game, they will then get my money again.
Merging Cultures Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 I'm moving to Cape Town in January so I've been considering re-subscribing while I'm away, but I'm not too sure about the new commentary having listened to the podcast. Might just Skype my dad and get him to put the radio next to the microphone again (did this when I lived in New Zealand for whenever I couldn't sleep). Is the rest of the service worth using though? DSTV have most of the games live, I stream the rest.Welcome to this part of the world! What will you be doing in CT? For away games, I video Skype my brother, but it is the other way around. It is so he can watch the game!
AyewJoking Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 Progress to a point - and something that might increase the depth of our appeal - but it all sounds far too cliquey to me. There needs to be some honest independent input and reaction. I don't mean giving people licence to go slagging off players and officials irresponsibly. But this seems suspiciously like an attempt to slowly marginalise the independent view as far as you could ever call Radio Leicester properly independent. I've been a fan over 50 years and my allegiance will never change. But if I can't attend a match or watch on television, I want proper commentary and constructive criticism/praise/analysis. I don't want a sanitised promotional exercise. Yes, there needs to be due respect - and perhaps a greater sensitivity where the Under 18's are concerned - but this sounds like matchday broadcasting minus all critically reactive emotion - exactly what has been encouraged in so many different ways by the football business generally in recent years. Much of what will be on offer will be highly processed PR with everyone involved left in no doubt how high the boundary lines now stand. Footballers and managers even get advised and coached on how to handle press interviews nowadays. And this will surely serve to extend that trend. Mark my words - "stonewall footballspeak" will soon become an official language. Was going to subscribe til i read that.
Lestoh Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 Not sure why anyone would complain about Conrad Logan taking on the commentary, there is not a man on this Earth who has spent more time sitting and analysing our games than Mr. Logan. Expect 11/10 commentaries and a funny accent.
Strokes Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 This is just hilarious. People moan and bitch about Stringer, and then miss him when its not him on FoxesPlayer. Christ. What, you think it's the same people?
Footballwipe Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 If at some point the club/foxesplayer land in the 21st century and provide a video stream of the game, they will then get my money again. Well that won't happen until at least 2019, and even then it would take the PL clubs to negotiate the right to stream PL games themselves to do that. Looking at how much international rights are worth though I can't see that changing so your money is safe.
KFS Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 Does this mean RL will have to open up as a free service?

foxes161 Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 So it does bring you live games you can watch? Why haven't they made an app for this? I'm tempted
filbertstreet Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 So it does bring you live games you can watch? Why haven't they made an app for this? I'm tempted No just sound, and yes there's an app called Fli Player
foxes161 Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 No just sound, and yes there's an app called Fli Player ah I see If it's just sound I don't think it's worth it. Just listen to radio Leicester.
Guest Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 It can't be long untie NBA route is opened surely, or is the deal with Sky just too restrictive. Kodi can't be beaten anyway.
filbertstreet Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 ah I see If it's just sound I don't think it's worth it. Just listen to radio Leicester. pretty sure that's what the commentary used to be, they're getting random players to do it now
Thracian Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 This is just hilarious. People moan and bitch about Stringer, and then miss him when its not him on FoxesPlayer. Christ. Can't see your point. People don't doubt Stringer's enthusiasm and at least he does ask searching questions at times or make controversial observations That doesn't blind them to his commentarial wanderings when he ends up talking about some trite off the ball event while missing the final pass for a goal. People have a justifiably high regard for Mahrez but it doesn't stop them being pissed off when he goes into a spell of trying to play the game on his own.
AKCJ Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 Does this mean RL will have to open up as a free service? RL is free. Licensing issues prevent them from broadcasting on digital radio during football games.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 It can't be long untie NBA route is opened surely, or is the deal with Sky just too restrictive. Kodi can't be beaten anyway. There won't be any change to the deal that's recently been signed, it would have to wait until the next round of negotiations. I'd be surprised if the Premier League changed the way they sell the rights though. At the moment the blind auction route for domestic rights is raking it in for them, and I doubt they'd want to sell online streaming rights because it could reduce the obscene amounts they get from the current format. Unless an external force (Ofcom, Government etc.) steps in I can't see it changing in the short term.

The hatred for Stringer on this forum verges on ridiculous most of the time with any positive comments very rare. I really don't understand the Mahrez comparison. I have said all along people should be careful what they wish for. Foxes player has now proved the grass isn't always greener, and RL would probably be the same if Stringer was to go. There are some utter dross commentators out there.
KFS Posted 27 October 2015 Posted 27 October 2015 RL is free. Licensing issues prevent them from broadcasting on digital radio during football games. Ah okay, so now the only way to listen to Stringer will be through your car... I like it!
