Tommy G Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Guys Got engaged at the weekend and we are planning to get married next Christmas, so looking at a stag do around Oct 2016 time. I've been to Dublin a cpl of new years ago and enjoyed it, has anyone been on good stag do's? Any ideas welcome - location, things to do etc. Cheers
AKCJ Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 People take these a bit too seriously nowadays. Just go to a decent city and get absolutely shit faced with your mates.
Darkon84 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Had some decent ones in Amsterdam - exactly what you'd expect and not too expensive Budapest - Incredible city, stuff to do and see, dirt cheap drinks and the women are out of this world! Though perhaps not the best place at the moment with all the immigrants camped there etc. Barcelona - Great city, loads to do, but a bit more on the expensive side. Benalmedina - Don't laugh, it's not the greatest place in the world when you look at it, but it's got beaches, sunshine, decent enough priced drinks and accommodation. Albufeira - Same as above, though if you go in the summer, beware the heat, you don't tend to notice the 40 degree heat when you're hammered until it's too late
Fox92 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Never been to one so not going to be any help, but congrats!

The Railway Man Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Your best man should be organising it so it shouldn't be anything to do with you. As long as you hit any major city or booze resort you'll be fine though.
kingcarr21 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Do a top gear challenge. Say if you are into the F1 you and your mates could get into groups of 3 and buy a car and go on a road trip to a european F1 race then drive back. Would be a right laugh. Thats what i looked at doing but we left it too late to sort out so just went to the dogs then titty bar
Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 I was going to go to London for mine but I keep reading it's all been turned into flats, can anyone confirm if this is true?
goose2010 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Riga is class cheap as cheap and in the summer the weather is decent bloody cold in the winter though! Beer Festivals in Germany are always a good laugh and you might be able to get a football match in if your lucky. If you want to go all out go to Vegas, done a stag do there the other year was just incredible.

Stevosevic Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Congratulations. September - perfect time for Oktoberfest in Munich.
tom27111 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Don't remember mine. The police took me home at 7am the next morning. Still don't know why.

If you didn't get charged with anything, they were probably just worried for your welfare. Or felt guilty for taking advantage of you in a disgusting way. Almost certainly the former
Voll Blau Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Heard on the radio once of some lads who sat in a minibus somewhere in the Midlands on a Saturday afternoon, and decided they'd go out wherever the first league goal that day was scored. Risky strategy, a night out in Fleetwood would be grim as.

Bettsj2 Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Hire a massive house in the countryside somewhere, order in loads of booze from Asda, hog roast company, bbq company get shitfaced and do stuff with your mates. Been on two now like this and they're great. One had a casino one night, played football the next day, loads of musicians brought their instruments and stuff so there were jams going on all the time. Plus this place had loads of massive hottubs so cigars and champagne were flowing in those. Then on the Sunday before everyone went home, went for a massive carvery in the local pub. Obviously hired in a stripper too!
Soar Fox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Been on a few stag do's the best one being a week in Las Vegas. Though the bride wasn't very happy that her fiancé was gone for that long. The worst being in London last year. The best man organised it terribly, instead of just all letting us go out and get pissed like we all wanted to he organised a few things to do. If you're having a stag do abroad I'd guess you'd have a home leg for the people who couldn't make it. For that I'd recommend Bredbury Hall, nice place out the way where you can drink all day then go into the nightclub with no hassle of queuing or being turned away.

Webbo Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 Congrats Tommy. Don't really have any advice, my do was crap.
General Smuts Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 My plan was to dress my mate up as Snow White and hire 7 little people to be tied to him for the night. But they were bloody well expensive and then I had to buy their beers on top of that as well.
Staffs Fox Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 I'm off to Bordeaux for the Euro's next summer for mine! I organised my best mate's a few years back and I'll be honest it wasn't the best. He gave me quite a long list of Don't's and also said I had to invite 27 people!! Trying to organise something for that amount of blokes is a ball ache of the highest order. Also amongst his demands were he wanted to go somewhere he'd never been before but in the UK!! Due to the original size of the group I knew we had to go to a City to cater for all of us. He went to Uni in Liverpool, grew up in Birmingham, visited me at uni in Manchester and other mates in Cardiff, Bristol, Sheffield and Leeds. The only real options left were the Scottish cities or Newcastle. I opted for Newcastle as the best option more than actually wanting to and it wasn't great. I found it to be very tacky (I know I'm on a Stag not going to the Opera) but people hassling you whilst sitting in pubs to buy Wristbands to get 25p a bottle of Becks in a club before 10.30 etc. It reminded me of Magaluf or something. Also they wouldn't let big groups in most bars and I found the doormen to be horrible. I know they must be sick of it every weekend but they're bouncers in Newcastle, what do they expect? As a result of this on the first night we ended splitting up into several groups and the Stag was vomiting a lot from 10pm onwards and was in bed by 11.30! (He initially threw up at the service station on the way up before Noon!) The next day we just wanted to find a decent boozer and watch the Ashes. We were playing at each wicket or boundary you neck your pint. No matter what stage of the pint you're at. England were great and took loads of wickets and it was a great afternoon but then the dickheads with the wristbands and shot girls were coming around every 5 mins and they just wouldn't leave, hanging around for 10-15mins at a time when you just want to drink and have a laugh. They were very aggressive sellers. We even brought some of one girl and others still came up to us asking to buy theirs! As if we needed two sets!! To add insult to injury only 11 of the 27 invitees came and if I'd been given that amount initially I'd have been able to do something more personal. It was decent and everyone had a good time, the Stag was ill, so it wasn't a disaster by any means but I pride myself on being an awesome night out planner, so was disappointed with myself more than anything I'm sure there's a message of caution in there somewhere
Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 I've two criteria for my stag do: a) must be in mainland Britain b) must not be able to be identified as a stag do

Should of done what we did, we hired one little person dressed him up as snow white and we went as the dwarves.
Nalis Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 I was going to go to London for mine but I keep reading it's all been turned into flats, can anyone confirm if this is true? I live in London and can confirm this is true. There is one pub with a beer garden but you cant see the grass with the amount of people there. Good pints though at a rock bottom 7 quid each.
Captain... Posted 4 November 2015 Posted 4 November 2015 First off you shouldn't be organising anything that's what a best man is for, but it is good to give him some ideas. The one I organised he wanted it by the sea in the UK and sunny. We ended up in the Peak District, but it was sunny so 2 out of 3 ain't bad. You are better off just picking somewhere you want to go, and let the best man figure out the logistics, just be aware if you go abroad a few people will drop out because of the cost, and some may bitch and moan while you are there about the cost. Just give the best man a date and a place and let him do the rest.
