Guest Col city fan Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 No team has done anything significant without a slice of luck along the way, we shouldnt understate our achievement to date because of it. I'm not doing. I'm stating we have had luck on our side recently too.
RonnieTodger Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 To be fair we're getting a lot. There are a lot of lazy arseholes like Mills, Lawrenson and 'Arry that aren't taking us seriously just because we're little old Leicester and based on nothing else. It's almost like experts are upset that we're showing the Premier League up for what it is.

There are a lot of lazy arseholes like Mills, Lawrenson and 'Arry that aren't taking us seriously just because we're little old Leicester and based on nothing else. It's almost like experts are upset that we're showing the Premier League up for what it is. Harry's coming round. sort of. Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has written in The Telegraph that Leicester City can finish in the top six of the Premier League this season. Leicester are at the top of the league table at the moment with 28 points from 13 matches, a point ahead of second-place Manchester United. Claudio Ranieri’s side are two points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal, who are third and fourth respectively in the standings. “Can Leicester keep it up?” Redknapp wrote in The Telegraph. “I have also had some unfancied teams climb high up the table in the first half of a season and it is very difficult to stay there. “Over a season, the added quality and strength in depth of the clubs with the greatest resources is usually decisive. “The top six, though, is now very possible for Leicester and that would still be a remarkable achievement.” Leicester’s target at the start of the campaign was to just survive in the Premier League, and 12 more points will virtually guarantee them top-flight football for one more season. The Foxes are having a great season, and they deserve all the plaudits they are getting right now. It will not be easy for Ranieri’s team to maintain their current run of form, though, especially as Liverpool and Chelsea appear to be getting back to their best. A top-six finish is possible, but Leicester fans should be happy if at the end of the season they end up in mid-table.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Chelsea appear to be getting back to their best. Yeah after 3 straight defeats they managed to pinch a 1-0 win at home against a struggling Norwich
suffolk fox Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 I really can't understand where all this we have had lots of luck this season bollox is coming from? People on here criticise the media whores Lawenson, Rednapp, Quinn Mickey, and the like, that put it down to pure luck as to why we are top of the leauge and most on here are repricating that point. In any football match it's always a game of fine margins is it not. Oh we could have had a penalty there? Oh look it's gone through the keepers legs he should have saved it, oh look we have just missed an open goal, oh wow that hit the post it could have gone in. They are facts in any football match where a game could change IF they happened? Facts are if they don't result in a goal that alters the outcome of a game they all mean the square root of naff all. That's football. Have many on here actually watched us play this season live not on some dodgy stream? Away from home particularly we have been outstanding. Played Southampton off the pitch second half and should have won 3 2 they were given a goal blatantly offside in the first half, maybe that was luck for them? Played West Brom off the pitch on their own back yard, they were given a penalty that never was. Played Newcastle off the pitch on Saturday, was all over Norwich played them off the park too and had a perfectly good goal in Ulloa not given. Could have been three nl up playing Arsenal at home before they scored hit the woodwork twice after Vardy had opened the scoring. I would say we were lucky if for example a team plays you off the park you are bloody awful all game but you manage somehow to fluke a one nil win. That's luck it's got naff all to do with What "ifs" in any game. I will say it again we have a bloody good football team playing cracking football and we should be all proud. Luck has naff all to do With any of it we are top on merit and deserve to be so. Please all watch Mersons post match assesment of us on Soccer Saturday if you haven't I suggest you all do he for me sums up what is good about us.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Added quality and strength in depth? Guessing he hasn't seen the internationals we have on the bench/not making the bench

Guest Col city fan Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Who is saying we haven't played well? We are a good team, playing some great football. We HAVE also had some 'luck' re decisions going our way... The penalty shouts against Palace being good examples. Compare this to last season...where we weren't playing well AND having hardly any decisions going our way (bad luck) and the contrast is apparent and obvious.
Corky Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Away from home we've been excellent. All of our wins have been fully deserved.

Len Finsbury Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Maybe the term 'luck' is what people are having difficulty coming to terms with but we've definitely had some good fortune this season, whether there's been anymore than any other season, I don't know. You only tend to remember the ones that go your way when you're doing well and the one's that don't when you're not. Being fortunate, or lucky, is when things that can go either way in a 50/50 fall favourably for you. People have already mentioned a few times where this has happened but I'm going to mention Vardy's gesture to the linesman a few weeks ago. I'm sure there were a few of us, after seeing the photos, that thought he might get pulled up on it and who knows, perhaps he would have done had he not been called up to the England squad and currently gunning for a record (think Shearer's reprieve when he lashed out at Lennon). People who have mentioned out luck aren't suggesting that it's the only factor in our success so far this season but I do wonder if things fall more favourably when you're doing well.
Rasmic123 Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 People saying we haven't played any of the better teams this season (apart from arsenal). Well while i do agree with this (to an extent), we've played 3 of the top 6 this season. Man city and man u have also only played 3 of the top 6 but this fact is overlooked. I get that these sides have better squads but give the credit where credits due, were winning games consistently and beating teams (west ham, west brom...) that were seeing other top four teams lose to.
enmac Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 I don't know how not to get carried away. This season could possibly be the high water mark for us as a club. No matter how well we 'consolidate' over the next few years we are unlikely to ever again be in the situation where we are top with definitively the best attack in the league.Agree. These moments are very rare. We haven't been top this far into a season since 1963, as far as I know. It might not happen again for another 50+ years, so let's celebrate and get carrried away!
LibertyFox Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 A decent cartoon in today's Guardian, celebrating our achievement, with a throwback to Tater Peeler and Akinbadbuy... http://gu.com/p/4efdd?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 You are going too far the other way when citing opponents tactical decisions as our good fortune. What's next were lucky to beat Newcastle because McClaren didn't buy XYZ player in the summer, who may have made a difference? Perhaps and not something I'd do too often, but that one in particular was just out of this world odd from Sherwood,

No one is saying we haven't played well and haven't deserved our excellent start. Some of us are not so utterly blinkered and blinded by our blue tinted specs that we can't recognise that we've had a good season with decisions as well.
Gerard Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Harry's coming round. sort of. Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has written in The Telegraph A top-six finish is possible, but Leicester fans should be happy if at the end of the season they end up in mid-table. Happy at mid table? I'll be gutted if we finished 10th. I expected us to finish mid table at the start of the season. 48pts got 10th last season so if we get 20pts from our last 25 games I'll be far from happy. That's relegation form and will put us as one one the favourites to go down again next season with that return over 25 games. At this moment in time I think 7th is about average at best and 6th average at worst. 8th or below will be a let down.
ARM1968 Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Let's reevaluate after our next 6 games. I think we're going to surprise a few more people - including denizens of Foxestalk.
Rasmic123 Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 all this "we should be happy to finish mid-table" is kinda bullshit though. If you look at the teams you would expect to finish just outside the top 6/7 - Soton, West Ham, Palace, Stoke and Everton, only Everton at this point look like they could finish above us as when we've played the aforementioned teams this season, we've been the better team and got the results. Another thing people dont seem to be recognising is that we aren't just a strong first 11. People saying we dont have the squad depth which is partly true, but we have enough good players to be able to change it depending on who we're playing - ulloa, okazaki, dyer, schlupp, kram and inler are all very capable at this level and have been used to great effect to offer us something different. However, if the media keep underestimating us, I have no doubt that we'll keep surprising people and picking up the points
Jacnah Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Southampton played really well against Man United and Arsenal in the first part of that run despite losing- in the reverse fixtures they won both and also drew with Chelsea. They finished 7th with 60 points- that would be some season for us if we at least matched it. wouldnt it just. a fantastic season and soemthing to try and build on

That was a blatant dive - the more you watch that the more ridiculous it looks. The ball to hand things with Fuchs no penalties either. Conversely, against us Southamptons 2nd goal - offside by a yard. Mahrez being brought down by Vertongen with the ref watching - are two blatently wrong decisions that have cost us three points off the top of my head. I feel matters have been pretty fair this season whereas last season 90% of marginal decisions went against us, on top of times when refs seemed to be inventing a different dimension to reality. Yours always unbiasedly, NTML
Walshy5 Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Anyone else get the impression that the media, the so called experts etc don't like the fact that little old leicester are up there infiltrating the big boys and want us to fail? C'mon lads lets keep it going and make sure we don't give em what they want.

Yours always unbiasedly, NTML I do like the way people post about what are marginal decisions refs make and state their opinion as if it's gospel. I've watched the zaha pen about twenty times and still wouldn't want to call it either way and the rule for handball clearly states if your arm is in a unnatural position, which Fuchs' was, it's handball whether deliberate or not. Whether you like it or not different day different ref either could have been given. Not to mention as previously stated Huth should have been off twice and consequently suspended, and we all know he's the heart of our back line. Mahrez has scored a goal that was an absolute mile off side, some of Vardys pens aren't clear cut, there was a big pen shout involving kasper at the start of the season? Ulloa ragged someone down in the box (palace?) nothing given. Absolutely no way it's 50/50, no way. Not criticising there has seldom been a team achieve things in football without a bit of luck but we've certainly had it

Was it Villa where their keeper blatantly handled the ball outside the box. If we had lost that game 2-1 people would still be moaning about an awful decision, but it gets forgotten quickly as we won.

It was barely offside, not that it matters of course, offside is offside. Also wouldn't agree that Fuchs arm was in an unnatural position, he'd just tried to kick the ball - unless you're a penguin (could be the new ostrich, watch this space) you don't run around kicking the ball with your arms by your side. But completely agree with the point that a different ref might have called it differently. Wrongly, in my opinion, but differently, and we'd be at least 2 points worse off because of it.
