Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 You were doing well until the "lot of luck line? Absolute horseshit. No luck about it, Kante and Drinkwater both unplayable at the moment. Vardy and Mahrez absolute top drawer with no little skill between them. If we were Arsenal, Spurs Liverpool Man City, Man Utd all pundits media would be raving about us. Listened to talksport at lunchtime pundits were basically still ripping the piss out of us and saying generally it wont last and we were lucky etc, etc, funnily enough your very line. We are playing great football and look bloody good. Pundits and media may well rip the piss out of little old Leicester but we are sticking it to them how best we know how playing good attacking football, long may it continue. Definitely playing great football and looking bloody good but have definitely had "luck", or whatever you want to call it, recently too with penalty decisions going our way and things like the Gomes mistake for Kante's goal against Watford. Even yesterday, Huth puts his hand around Mitrovic's throat and it goes our way. I'm not saying that all of these (the Palace and WBA penalty appeals etc) should have gone against us but we've had a lot of marginal decisions go our way lately (Vardy could have been given offside yesterday for his goal because it was so tight). Last season some decisions that weren't even close to marginal were going against us week after week and it was horrible. I'm not discrediting us by mentioning decisions going in our favour. We're still playing exceptional football and getting the results we deserve.
Foxes1 Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I listened to MOTD last night and Alan Shearer gave us credit for the way we have been playing. Mind you he hit the nail on the head when he described Newcastle as amongst other words diabolical
Bluetintedspecs Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I've just got myself strapped in and I'm enjoying this amazing ride! Watching some amazing football, awesome team spirit, records tumbling...... I don't give a shi*e what others may think I'm loving it!
Spudulike Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 I think it is disingenuous to suggest we haven't had some serious luck this season. Also, much as I loathe him, Shearer came straight out last night and said how well we played and named about 5 of our players. Yup, loads of luck just like the two nailed on penalties we didn't get at Norwich.
Guest ttfn Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Yup, loads of luck just like the two nailed on penalties we didn't get at Norwich. Nobody is suggesting that we have exclusively got the rub of the green this season, but we've got away with 3 or 4 very giveable (note: I'm not stating an opinion that they were pens) penalties (Schmeichel at West Ham, Fuchs on Zaha, most of Huth's performance at West Brom) and referees with less sense could easily have sent Huth off twice already (Bournemouth and Newcastle). Last year the way things were going of the 5 things I've referenced you can bet your bottom dollar we'd have had 3 of them given against us.
suffolk fox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Isnt it a fact tbough that good teams playing like we do fast attacking football create *their so called luck? Liverpool are now emulating our style of play closing down quickly and harrassing opponents into mistakes. Their first goal yesterday was an own goal wasnt that luck? Football is fine margins a shot towards goal goes through the keeper thats not luck. Even if the ball goes through him aka gomes if you hadnt shot towards the goal in the first place you wouldnt have scored even if the keeper makes a mistake. We are a bloody good side restricting a side yesterday playing at home to one effort on target. A side that put 6 past Norwich at home and drew away at Man Utd 0 0. You can only beat whats in front of you and we are doing it well. We too have not alwayshad the rub of the green with decisions but that is football.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Their just expecting the bubble to burst that's all. Which it will at some point, don't really see why pundits predicting us to lose is so annoying. I'm just delighted we are in the form we are in if people want to mark us down to lose that's up to them, I don't doubt there will be an occasion where mark lawrenson has us down to lose at home to someone like Bournemouth, everyone on here has us down as dead Certs and he ends up being bang on the money.....that's football. He is after all required to predict every game every week and has to give an opinion one way or the other. In terms of praise I think on the whole the media has far from ignored us, it's just that we know as well as they do we probably aren't going to maintain top four form all season. Next month will be very telling in terms of where we actually are I think. Good solid post, sensible I concur
Bayfox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Let it continue, we are rubbish... little Leicester... McClaren thought we were solid at the back and just nicked goals ... no wonder his team got steamrolled If that's true. That's exactly the sort of reason he shouldn't be a manager. Try watching/scouting your opponents. I can only assume he saw our 1 clean sheet before yesterday I guess I he now thinks we are immense at the back.
Thracian Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 We're getting plenty of credit from all sorts of people although you do sense that some of it is a bit grudging or condescending. The greatest compliment seems to be that other teams seem to be trying to emulate us and, all of a sudden, the big guns are misfiring on occasions.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 So-called "experts" haven't a clue outside of the big clubs. Garth Crooks and Danny Mills were on BBC today during the game saying that, essentially, Jamie Vardy was just a flash in the pan, didn't have enough class to keep it up and probably wouldn't be able to produce the goods on a regular basis. Sooooo... like Harry Kane then? Yeah just like Harry Kane
Great Boos Up Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 The media will melt over an FA cup performance because that's live news that sells. Until then were just getting the way of a pre written script that journalists and pundits had written 3 months ago in their local to get paid. We are safe. So let's go for that cup; guts, balls an all ! An FA cup final! what have got to lose here!

We've had luck, huth could of walked twice and I can think of about five pen decisions both for or against that could, possibly should of gone against us. Not to mention the Tim shreerwood horror substitute show. Not taking anything away from us but your deluded if you don't think we've had a decent amount of good fortune along the way.

Well i must be deluded. What if and could have been has got nothing to do with it. Life certainly isn't like that. We could have done this or that. Facts are we are a bloody good footballing side and the results stand as they are huth could have been sent off twice well he wasn'T penaltys could have been given against us they were not. Vardy could and should have had a hattrick at least yesterday he didn't was that unlucky. As I say you make your own luck being, adventerous, giving it a go, playing good open attacking football more often than not will wield results no I don't think we have been lucky at all. Newcastle last week playing crap at Bournemouth being outplayed and winning one nil that to me is luck. Not what ifs and could haves.

You're entirely missing the point - yes, Huth wasn't sent off, yes, penalties weren't given, but they could and perhaps should have been: we've been the beneficiaries of more 50/50 decisions than we've had go against us; decisions that would have gone against us last year. Yes, we're playing very well, but we're definitely getting a bit of luck.
brookfox Posted 22 November 2015 Posted 22 November 2015 Personally I couldn't care less what media coverage we get. Sure it's nice to read an informed article on how we're doing. But I support our club because it's where I'm from and who I've always supported, not because of what some ex-pro sponging a living off the media or a London based journalist who gets a nose bleed if he drives past Watford writes about us in the Daily Mail. **** em, I'll base my judgements based on what I and other fans see and if that makes us "little Leicester" who cares!
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 23 November 2015 Author Posted 23 November 2015 Definitely playing great football and looking bloody good but have definitely had "luck", or whatever you want to call it, recently too with penalty decisions going our way and things like the Gomes mistake for Kante's goal against Watford. I think the decisions that have gone in our favour this year compared to last is because we create chances and play in a positive manner. When you sit back and just try to defend and limit ones exposure things go against you with the refs. Still believe you make your own luck
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 23 November 2015 Author Posted 23 November 2015 Re: Merson No he predicted a 2-2 pre match, and I can report he more often that not has us down as winners or at least not losing. He's been saying for weeks that he really rates us. . Thanks I stand corrected mate

When you play positive football, positive things happen. Hence the luck

You are going too far the other way when citing opponents tactical decisions as our good fortune. What's next were lucky to beat Newcastle because McClaren didn't buy XYZ player in the summer, who may have made a difference?
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Again I have to agree with Pablo (brrrrrrrrr.....). We've definitely had the luck coming our way too. That can change on the throw of a dice. What hopefully won't change is our style of play and work rate. Which are both exemplary.

Countryfox Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 When do we get credit ? ..... Be careful what you wish for. We are reaching a critical time as the clubs aspirations increase and its how we handle it that is important. The owners have a long term plan to take this club further but we have exceeded expectations and progressed more quickly than anticipated .... both by ourselves and the media. Do we push and try and jump to the next level or remain calm and follow the original plan ..... I think the latter (not personally) but then the danger is we lose key players who are lured away by "bigger" clubs .... Its a tough one. But in the meantime what the media thinks and the credit we get is totally irrelevant.

Guest Col city fan Posted 23 November 2015 Posted 23 November 2015 Last season, when decision after decision went against us, people said there was no such thing as luck. It's a complex thing the whole 'luck' debate.I do think you can 'make your own luck' to some extent, in regard to how you are playing football. A quick, counter attacking style such as ours brings fouls by the opposition. Vardy getting past the last defender and getting brought down time after time is a good example. It's both our style of play and his pace that brings this about (and of course the defensive error on the part of the opponent). The 'luck' part is if the referee then actually gives a foul in this scenario. Some will, some won't. In this way, our style of play 'makes our own luck' IF the ref then chooses to blow his whistle..which he has been on many occasions recently. Down t'other end, we've been lucky in terms of ref's NOT choosing to allow penalties to the opposition recently, when IMO, some of these decisions have also gone our way. But this can change. Last season as you say, we weren't getting the decisions. But this season we are. So far. So I think you to some extent make your own luck by your style of football, your manner etc and then hope you get it.
