purpleronnie Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 So no doubt he'll end up back on sky telling the viewers how the manager got it all wrong.
Captain... Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 He can talk the talk, but not walk the walk. Just because he played for Yanited, does this guarantee he will be an immediate success, obviously not at the moment. Neville may well turn out to be a successful manager, but you have to pay your dues. Learn your trade first, not often do you get short cuts to success. Glad he is not calling the shots with England. Think Woy should let him go. Except he can't talk the talk in Spanish, surely there must be someone who speaks Spanish there who can help him, but shouting random things from the touchline isn't going to help anyone.
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Got to say though, at least he gave it a go. So many ex players are content with just media work. Not as easy when they actually give management a go. I'd welcome Neville back as a pundit because he was the best.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 He was offered a chance and gave it a go for sure, but really he shouldn't be jumping into the deep end like that. Taking a job in the lower leagues would have been more suitable.
m4DD0gg Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Will loose credability as a manager after this mess and as a pundit
MPH Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Keeping going, Gary you've got that winning mentality for sure....
johnny the fox Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 At least he's tried. remember that when your on the operating table ..

Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 I think Neville has been very naïve. Maybe verging on stupid. To manage a club with huge expectations, a massive following at a time when he inherited a very average squad with no money to sign anyone and in a foreign country when he can't talk Spanish...is verging on the bizarre. If he wanted to go into football management he would have been wiser to take on say, a Championship club with promotion aspirations and build up. Being a good pundit is not football management. Management is about getting the players on your side. It's about the daily grind of having to deal with whingeing young men. It's not about standing in a comfy SKY studio talking about tactics. It's hard work. It's a slog. Neville may go on to learn from this experience and become a top football manager. Buy I can't for the life of me get why he took this job on. If he turns this around at Mestalla then good luck to him. But I think he'd have bern cleverer to learn the trade first.

He's obviously aware of the things i've put in bold. It's clearly silly to go straight into a job like Valencia if you are positive that you want to be a manager at the highest level, but he'd have been an even bigger idiot to have turned it down. Not many people get those opportunities. The biggest idiots were Valencia themselves for signing a manager with little experience when, as you say, they were in a difficult period.
Dan Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 It's funny isn't it how putting words on a picture automatically makes it a quote Although in fairness I could actually imagine him saying that.
Ross-Kemp Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 remember that when your on the operating table ..Not quite the same is it?

Being a coach isn't the same as being a football manager though is it? I've got mates who are football coaches. One with all the badges. He couldn't manage a piss up in a brewery. Genuinely. Managing people and personalities isn't about running a training session. Time will tell on this. You clearly imagine he will become a good football manager. And he might. But I think, given all the circumstances he'd have been wiser to hold off and wait for the right job.

Your mate who coaches the local under 9s isn't the same as coaching the national side is it for **** sake.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Your mate who coaches the local under 9s isn't the same as coaching the national side is it for **** sake. He don't coach under 9's and often tells me he wouldn't get into management for love nor money. The two are completely different. I ain't arguing with you anymore you just get abusive. And the mods will ban ME once more. Like they have done already today. Let's just see. I hope you're right. Neville seems a good guy. Personally I think it's too big a jump too soon.
Guest MattP Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 I'd sack him from the England job for this as well, bet he's as much to blame for our shower as Hodgson is, totally inept. I think when they head straight from the football pitch to the television studio it's almost them admitting subconsciously they just aren't cut out for management.

Personally I think it's too big a jump too soon. Abusive? I'm also saying that it's proven to be too big of a jump. But your claim that he got the job because he "sits in a comfy studio talking tactics" is clearly miles wide of the mark. As are most of your claims.

Our shower? Unbeaten in quali shower? Gonna win euro 2016 with Vards, Drinks and Simpson shower? U mad bro?
Captain... Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Valencia where mad to offer him the job, he was naïve to take it, but fair play for giving it a go. He seems like the kind of person who will deal with set backs by making him even more determined to succeed. Maybe this 7-0 will be the water shed moment, maybe now they are at rock bottom and with nowhere left to go but up, time to roll the dice, there could be a big response in the next game from his players. If he can't get that then he should probably quit, they are in real danger of being dragged into the relegation zone. Next game is against Real Betis, 3 points behind Valencia and on a similar run of form, you can recover from a hammering from Barca, but losing to Betis and the white hankies will be out.
Mr.10 Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 "As" says André Villas-Boas may take charge of Valencia next season. http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2016/02/06/primera/1454729872_591010.html
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 It's looking like Neville is going to lose again this afternoon...
Dan Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 9 league games without even taking the lead, let alone winning it. Four points clear of 18th with Valencia completely incapable of winning a game at present. They could genuinely get relegated at this rate.
