Kitchandro Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 You can see him being England manager based on what exactly? He's never managed a professional game of football in his entire life before. Feck me, England would be in a sorry state of affairs if they picked their managers on their punditry. We're in a sorry state at the moment picking managers on their long yet average careers.
MPH Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Think he'd have done better starting in the non-league - perhaps even Salford - and learning the trade a little before moving into a "top" european side. Hasslebanks has done quite well for himself. Won division 2 with Burton, now 3 points clear at the top of division 1 and being spoken of for the QPR job....
Guest MattP Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I rate Gary Neville, can see him being England manager one day . Why? Because he has said a few tactical things on the telly? He's already involved in this god awful boring England side we have now.

Apart from Sir Bobby Robson & Terry Venables England haven't had a good track record of choosing managers who had already managed before.
Sampson Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Apart from Sir Bobby Robson & Terry Venables England haven't had a good track record of choosing managers who had already managed before. Feck me! So because we've made some poor appointments, the England national team should just start hiring people with absolutely no managerial experience whatsoever? That is utterly insane.
mozartfox Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Expect a bid for V9 and Mahrez soon then.............................. Stringer has sent his CV to Sky.

So because we've made some poor appointments, the England national team should just start hiring people with absolutely no managerial experience whatsoever? That is utterly insane. Hiring people with experience hasn't been very successful has it. Gary Neville played under one of the best ever managers in the world for his entire career, I'm sure he's learnt quite a bit over the years. Jurgen Klingsman managed Germany to 3rd in the 2006 World Cup in his first ever managerial job.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 love it, hiring experienced managers hasn't worked so let's give joe bloggs the gilet.
AKCJ Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Gary Neville is clearly suited to management. Suprised that people are so against it now that he's actually got a job.
Captain... Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 It's not like he even has an experienced number 2 there to assist him, he has his brother. Fair play to Gary for taking the chance, as an interim it could be great for both parties, and if it doesn't work out then not too much is lost. I suspect Valencia have their eye on someone long term but are waiting until the summer to make an approach.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Neville clearly knows what he's talking about though. Not just from his punditry, but from what the programme about Salford City too. His coaching skills must be valued too considering he has been working for England.
Webbo Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Good luck to him. There are plenty of foreign managers here who can't speak English until they've been here a bit so that's not an issue. If he does well then we might have found the next England manager. If he does crap so what? I don't support Valencia.
Ric Flair Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Outrageous how he's got the job based on previous managerial experience but we have no idea whether he'll succeed or fail. He could turn out to be the next superstar manager and god do England need one, if he applies himself as well as he did as a player and pundit as he does to management then through hard work and preperation alone he'll do well. He is the epitomy of maximizing every ounce of talent a person has, he's said himself that technically he was way inferior to a lot of PL and England players but his dedication, professionalism and desire made up for that.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Valencia's fans must be fooking furious. How would we feel if Raúl got given the Leicester job for instance? Good player, yes, but so what?
AKCJ Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Valencia's fans must be fooking furious. How would we feel if Raúl got given the Leicester job for instance? Good player, yes, but so what? Not even remotely relatable.
Dan Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Disgraceful appointment. Might even top Hockaday as the most insane appointment. A guy with no managerial experience and no association with the club and who can't even speak the language walks into a top 4 Spanish side because he's mates with the new owner? And people moan about English managers not being given a chance at top English clubs because of foreigners - well at least they have experience rather than an absolute nobody in footballing management terms. If this wasn't an Englishman people would be slating the hell out of this. If I was a Valencia fan I'd fee utterly sick with that appointment and that the owner is just handing out jobs to his mates who are absolute nobodies in both football management and Spanish football terms. Thought the exact same. I like Neville but for a sense of perspective, say it's Arsenal's new owners giving a job to Del Piero on the back of no managerial experience, and the fact they're Del Piero's mate.

Jurgen Klingsman managed Germany to 3rd in the 2006 World Cup in his first ever managerial job. No doubting that there's potential for him to be a good manager one day, but Valencia? That's one hell of a job really. They're probably the fourth biggest club in Spain (some would argue third), not the kind of job who you hand to a mate.
Matt Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Gutted from a point of view that Sky will be losing him, by far the best pundit out there, just hope they replace him with someone decent. Hope he does well there.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Now is as good a time as any. That must be one of the worst videos ever.
Jimothy Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 That must be one of the worst videos ever. I got to the bit where they distorted Phil's face and gave up.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 I got to the bit where they distorted Phil's face and gave up. Same. Who the fvck watches all 3 minutes of that.
Guest Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Valencia's fans must be fooking furious. How would we feel if Raúl got given the Leicester job for instance? Good player, yes, but so what? Some people on here wanted Cambiasso as manager.
