Gary Neville Sacked By Valencia

Won't be long before hes coming home, a job in England would have done him some good but going to Spain for your first stint at management what was going through his mind? he comes across as pretty sensible but this was a huge risk which has gone wrong.

It's not that big a risk, with his reputation over here there's far less less media glare in Spain than if it was a managerial gig in this country - throw in the fact he's well in with Peter Lim too.

Said it wouldn't work out when he was appointed and have seen nothing to convince me otherwise. Looking very much like Valencia will be without European football next season which is dreadful for a club of their size.

language barrier seems an issue

enjoyable video this.

The fact they have very few phrases they can use seems a real issue, basics it seems like, like "go forward" and "pass"......must be tough. although there looked like there was a togetherness there at the end.

Yeah I noticed that... saw it on reddit and people were saying it looked as if they hate Nev, but there does seem to be some connection imo. Especially with Negredo, possibly because he speaks fluent English? Love the video... rare that you can see and hear what managers are like on the touchline

Gary Neville is clearly suited to management.

Suprised that people are so against it now that he's actually got a job.

Why's that?

Managing and playing are entirely different and most managers start at the bottom end of a managerial tree than the top, and for damned good reasons.

Seems to me he's got lots to learn.

Are you REALLY saying that being a good pundit a top manager doth make!

I've heard it all now. Here, today...

Yes because that's exactly what I said, isn't it? lol

He can talk the talk, but not walk the walk.

Just because he played for Yanited, does this guarantee he will be an immediate success, obviously not at the moment. Neville may well turn out to be a successful manager, but you have to pay your dues. Learn your trade first, not often do you get short cuts to success.

Glad he is not calling the shots with England. Think Woy should let him go.

i dont know what was neville's most embarrassing camp nou moment. that or his reaction to torres' goal.

what was it, bearing in mind he had never managed a club ever before, that made you so sure he would be a managerial success?

Not saying he was doomed to fail like he is, but what did you think the qualities were he would bring?

I could probably do a half decent punditry job, but could i manage a big football club in a foreign culture? not a chance.

I'm not sure you'll get a coherent answer here...

Natural leadership and an exceptional understanding of the game.

I wasn't sure that Valencia was the right move but I am still sure that he will be a good manager.

He doesn't need anybody to tell him he's ballsed up lol

Gary would be much better suited to earning his stripes at a League One/League Two side where he really can command respect.

I still think fair play for putting his reputation on the line by going to a new culture but it's failed miserably.

In somewhere like Spain you have to know the language.
