Sly Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 As we continue to ride the crest of the wave, sitting atop of the Premier League table, above the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and all. My friends and I were debating our player of the season so far. We all acknowledged that the team spirit is captivating and the football and style of play and the manor in which we press teams from the front is breath taking to watch. So throughout this fine assemble of warriors, friends, team mates and gentlemen, who has been our main catalyst? The obvious ones, opted for Jamie Vardy. He is the media darling, or devil, dependent upon how or what you read. He is also the man that has garnered the most attention recently, having broken a Premier League record held by Ruud Van Nistlerooj. Others have pointed to the genius of the magician Mahrez, who has conjured some remarkable, mesmerizing moments of player. Then you look at the drive of Kante, tackling, driving runs, desire, interceptions, passion, willingness, never give up attitude .... attributes and a playing style akin to that of the legendary Patrick Vieira or Roy Keane. Others have shown themselves to be blossoming in the twilight of their careers also, with both Morgan and Huth now starting to show the form from the back end of last season. Danny Simpson, love him or hate him, looks like a different player to the person played under Nigel Pearson. Christian Fuchs is another that has quietly gone about his business but has cemented himself a place in the first team. So who is your player of the season so far?
Bryn Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Vardy Mahrez Kante Drinkwater Morgan In that order.
ImBlue Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 It's Vardy. But you will get clever people trying hard to be alternative.
Jimothy Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 I can't seperate Mahrez, Vardy and Kante. I'll give it Vardy but only just. Drinkwater, Fuchs and Morgan aren't too far behind either. Surely Vardy and Mahrez are nailed on to be in the final 6 for the PFA Player of the year.
lgfualol Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Vardy for me. 11 bastards in consecutive games. Then Mahrez, Kante, Drinky, Morgan, Albrighton
Devonfox1884 Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Vardy Mahrez Kante Drinkwater Morgan In that order. Agreed. Honourable mentions to Fuchs and Albrighton also.
Buggsteam Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Think Mahrez, Kante and Drinkwater have been amazing this season so far and long may it continue. However VARDY has to take it so far for me tho. So much improvement on last season and looks so hungry for more goals. A long way still to go and my view may change but he's just on fire.
ScouseFox Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 vardy has to be most consistent, he's been involved in at least one goal (scored or assisted) in EVERY game we've played ffs, that is unbelievable. i voted mahrez though because i think he's our best player. could've voted kante or fuchs or drinkwater or vardy because they've all been great.
The Doctor Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Separating Mahrez and Kante is incredibly difficult and any other season it'd be a tossup between them, but you can't not give it to Vardy - he's been a revelation so far and at present should be the first name on Englands team-sheet for next summer.
whoareyaaa Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Marhez for me without him Vardy may never being sitting on top with 14 goals but he has to take his chances so each go hand in hand but Marhez is pivotal for me.
Drew Peacock Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Kante for me. Considering he has moved to a new country and only been playing in the premier league for a few months, he has been incredible and so consistent. By the time Vardy or Mahrez put it in the net, it's easy to forget that he has usually broken up play and was the start of the original attack. Seems to cover every inch of the pitch and has given the team more scoring opportunities, which have been taken so well. The former two have been fantastic, but for Kante to have reached the standard he has, in such a short time at the club, I am really excited to see what he can achieve in the future. He will be world class I think.
foxfanazer Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Vardy. Represents everything thats goodabout us Honorable mentions to Mahrez, Kante, Albrighton and Drinky though
Sampson Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Vardy Mahrez Kante Drinkwater Morgan In that order. Agreed. Honourable mentions to Fuchs and Albrighton also. Probably this. Just realised something pretty mind boggling though - those 7 players cost just £9mil in total between them - heck, if you take Kante's £5.6mil out, those 6 players cost £3.4mil between them(!) Like... We bought Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Morgan, Albrighton and Fuchs for just £3.4mil between them. Just let that sink in for a moment...
Mikey Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Got to be Vardy but that's still harsh for Mahrez and Kante. A very strong case for all three (as well as a few others!).
Grewks Posted 6 December 2015 Posted 6 December 2015 Kante, if he doesn't win the ball back vardy doesnt score. No player in the side is as responsible as he is for both the reason we are scoring a lot of goals, whilst also seeing huge defensive improvement in open play.
ImBlue Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Kante, if he doesn't win the ball back vardy doesnt score. No player in the side is as responsible as he is for both the reason we are scoring a lot of goals, whilst also seeing huge defensive improvement in open play. I assume you'll know how many of Vardy goals have come from Kante winning the ball, as I'm sure you wouldn't make that statement without it being even loosely based on facts. Vardy is a forward that defends from the front with a lot of tackles per game, has assists and scored 14 goals and we're just into December. What more would he have to do to get the nod from you?
ImBlue Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 What total plank voted for Huth Probably the worst defender in the back 4 this season
4everfox Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Vardy, easy. Didn't even have to think about it.
Nickfosse Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Kante for me. He has been the difference. Winning the ball and releasing our pacy attackers. Also only playing 2 central midfielders he does the work of 2/3.
EnglishOxide Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Vardy because of his goals, closely followed by Kante then Mahrez. I think the reality of the situation is that Vardy can be replaced in the summer if necessary but Kante can't. He's a ****ing gem.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Toss up between Mahrez and Vardy for me, obviously all the honorable mentions have already been covered, we've been sensational all over the pitch, I have given it to Vardy but splitting him and Mahrez is difficult.
bluebeau Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 It has to be Jamie Vardy. We haven't had a Vardy since Gary Lineker! In a 'normal' season almost all of the regular first team could be voted as player of the season coz they are that good!
Leicester_Numan Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Went for Mahrez. Although I think Vardy has been superb and is our most important player team-wise, I think Mahrez has been the one that stands out as quite possibly, world class, in an attacking sense that is.
Finnegan Posted 7 December 2015 Posted 7 December 2015 Obviously Vardy but what's pleasing is that special mentions have to go to so many. Kante, Fuchs, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Albrighton have all been fantastic. Morgan has looked much better, Schlupp has matured, Simpson has been surprising. Vardy has gotten the press but it's actually been an incredible team performance.
