americanfox Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 I have no idea where you're trying to go with this or if it's rhetorical or not so I'm going to give it a stab. Ulloa is the only one of those guys to play in the Championship and he bossed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIZ_wEEkL8U I think Krammy would do well once he found his missing feet. I rate him more than Austin given a few games to settle in. The thing about Shinji is I don't think he's fast, strong, or big enough to be the x factor. It was a poor way for trying to convey my point, but what I was trying to get at was Ulloa isn't clearly a cut above Championship standard. That's what I was trying to get at. And he's been poor this season, and that's considering how uninspiring Shinji has been in comparison.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Liverpool won, cause they were the first team to match the way we play this season, so we were never really in it, Lets just hope other teams don't follow LIverpool or could be a tough run in Lets hope that's not the case. Did watford not play it against us?
Thracian Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Watched on a live stream. Outnumbered in midfield. Kante usual workhorse performance and Morgan solid at the back. But no one to control the ball and proceedings. Better side won but we were going to lose at some point and every team is going to have a bad day. Today was definitely that. The key now will be to dust ourselves down for Man City. I watched on a live stream too and you're absolutely right. Kante was still strong but having just two in central midfield today was not enough. With Mahrez neutralised after 30 minutes and Vardy clearly struggling it seem to leave Shinji not knowing what the hell to do. And Albrighton wasn't as quick and strong as the injured Schlupp might have been in a rough and tumble. People refer to us hoofing the ball and midfield giving it away but Liverpool allowed us no fluidity. It was perhaps the most intense performance I've seen from any Premiership team against us this season over 90 minutes. We gave ourselves a little hope the last 15 muinutes of the first half and after they scored but, otherwise, for all that the players gave everything they lacked the energy Vardy gives when fit or the quality Mahrez offers when we're playing well enough to give him space. Somehow we will have to perform at maximum intensity again to give us hope of real success and that require a bigger and better squad. I don't mean anyone has to cost a fortune or come in as a name for the sake of it but people who can maintain and improve our strength and speed because the latter's tailing off with Vardy's body taking such a pummelling and the absence of Schlupp as an option who has to be marked and poses a potential danger even despite the mistakes he makes.
leicesterseddon Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Not too suicidal about the result, but more than anything it was the performance that disappointed me. Our worst performance this season for me. In brief: 1. Schmeichel made some very good saves, but his kicking was all over the place today. Gave away possession with almost every kick. 2. Kante was our best player by a distance I felt. He really is some player. 3. King basically just didn't turn up. I tried especially hard to track him in the second half - he wasn't jumping for headers, was backing off tackles, etc. It was like playing with 10 men. 4. Liverpool marked Mahrez out the game. 5. Not really sure what Okazaki brings us to be honest, apart from a willingness to run around a lot. Still, having got all my negatives out the way, it's worth having some perspective. Still top after Boxing Day, and not a complete disaster today. Onwards and upwards. With Drinkwater back, I fancy us to get a result against Man City.
trabuch Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Odd feeling losing (no it's not). Still top though. Having played Liverpool when they decided to turn up - I think we play Man City when they will no be bothered. The most interesting match for me is away at Spurs.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 I agree Col. Just wondered what you thought to the idea that if Vardy has got a virus and is under the weather, plus he's possibly still carrying a bit of an injury, that it may be worth resting him? It's a long season and better perhaps have him at 100% for many games rather than risk him for the one. Whilst I also agree with the scoring hit we may take, perhaps the one game with Okazaki in the Vardy position with Krameric behind worth a one off try. One, we could see if Okazaki is capable of it and two we'd put a few ghosts to bed re Krameric as he'd get a full chance to stake a claim and no excuses if he's clearly not up to it. King for me is worth another go but with Inler on the sidelines for half time if no improvement. Vardy and and Drinky too precious to risk if not fully fit plus if they did lose a very loseable match against Man City, the return of two fit talisman would be a lift for the next game. I really agree with this. I suppose that Vardy wouldn't have sat on the bench voluntarily, but with the benefit of hindsight... I would like to see Okazaki play in Vardy's role a few times, because if he is decent cover, it makes his 'important but vanilla' performances off Vardy more tolerable. CR has really taken not tinkering to heart, and it has worked brilliantly, but it is a very fine line he is treading, vis-a-vis injuries and fatigue.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Liverpool season ticket holder for the last 20 years. Felt i had to register as i have read most of these posts and its evident that as well as a class team you also have fans with class who are gracious in defeat. I can honestly say following my club for all these years I've been on an emotional rollercoaster but never have i not fancied Liverpool to win at Anfield to any club like i did at kick off today and that includes Real Madrid and Barcelona. I thought you were going to do us and i can tell you a lot of Liverpool fans felt that way. I think the worst thing that could of happened to you was our defeat at Watford last week as it was a major kick up the hoop for Liverpool so they needed that result today. In hindsight i think it could be a kick up the ring piece for yourselves and i hope Leicester can respond because in an age of football fat cats throwing money at the problem Leicester are sat at the top sticking up two fingers at the big boys. So keep on dreaming as winning the holy grail is not beyond your ability. Good luck Leicester city! Dare to dream. Classy post
leicsmac Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 No - it's patronising. Are we taking all complimentary posts by opposition fans after defeats to be patronising now then? I know football can be all about tribal BS but just occasionally people are actually decent - and I think that's the case here.
trabuch Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Are we taking all complimentary posts by opposition fans after defeats to be patronising now then? I know football can be all about tribal BS but just occasionally people are actually decent - and I think that's the case here. Not at all. But we don't really need other clubs fans to tell us how to feel. It's genuinely new to me. 45 years of supporting LCFC and I really don't need another club's fan to describe my feelings.
leicsmac Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Not at all. But we don't really need other clubs fans to tell us how to feel. Agreed, but it is occasionally nice to see people actually acting like human beings towards each other once the 90 is up.
trabuch Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Agreed, but it is occasionally nice to see people actually acting like human beings towards each other once the 90 is up. True dat.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 They will have Yaya 'runs average of 2 kilometres a game' Toure in their team. No chance will they out press us. Ha ha, good point.
fuchsntf Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Besides all the so called great play from Liverpool, and denying our top 2 space, Mahrez and Vardy could of shared 4 goals today. We still created chances, even Dyer, King and Huth were near scoring. Today we didnt convert, but even in a below performance, not in possesion ( we have never shared those spoils), we created again openings and opportunities. This is one reason I believe, we can compete at the top end, by even turning 2-4 winless game runs around. Today we saw an Arsenal heavy defeat, a few weeks ago Man.city were struggling, at the moment , Manutd, Chelsea, Liverpool (still) are off the radar. Today was the beginning of the rest of the season, I believe this season we could carry 4 more losses to be Champions. Its not top quality teams inconsistency, but thankfully the higher quality of this season top 17 teams. Its so unpredictable good form of all teams, that will help with our own bouncebackability. We could well beat Man.city then blow it against a feisty skillfull Bournemouth. Now the players, have records come to the end, I cant wait to see these guys start a newtrail of total mayhem amazing their fans,2nd team followers, and confusing all panelists, and pundits. This one loss wont stop the fear of other teams, will have when looking towards the foxes, now we have unpredictabilty as our strength.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 No - it's patronising. Well, maybe it is a bit, but I think he did try and say that we are genuinely frightening teams like Liverpool, which is an amazing thing really. I'm a sucker for a compliment!

trabuch Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Yeah but this is FoxesTalk, where we have a 344-page and counting thread about what other fans think about us. Yes - and this is new territory where we don't need any more to care about other fans. We are top of the league.
Jordan Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Yes - and this is new territory where we don't need any more to care about other fans. We are top of the league. It's new territory where we need to lighten up a bit.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Lost to Liverpool at Anfield and we think it's a disaster. We've been spoiled! Arsenal were dicked 4-0
Merging Cultures Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 We were due a loss. They set up well to nullify our threats. I did think at points during the game we could have nicked a goal. First loss away from home. No need to panic.
Callabinho Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 looking back on the game I think it's fair to say that we lost because our "quality" is inconsistent throughout the whole side. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you can successfully stop Mahrez and Vardy, you've pretty much stopped us. We had no plan B, no one else to look to and I think that's why some fans are slightly worried after yesterday's defeat. Let's face it had Liverpool had a young Torres or Suarez up front it would have been far, far worse, thankfully they only had Benteke. We need to sign some more quality in January otherwise I fear we will really fade away in the second half of the season, and that would be awful because we've been so good up to now.
fternolad Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 The one time I want you lot to turn up and you let me down. Anyway congrats on your season, its been a refreshing change. Wish the media would stop going on about the so called big 4. All the best for the rest of the season, from a forest fan in Greece.
Harry - LCFC Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 The game today exposed our lack of depth in the midfield today. Kante has to do the job of two in there as Andy King went full on missing in action. He did nothing of note with the ball and was caught ball watching plenty of times in defence. Absolutely dreadful today. He's not good enough. We looked better when Dyer, Ulloa and Kramaric came on, changes should have been made much earlier as everyone could see from the first half it wasn't working. Fair play to Kramaric who after being out the side for so long showed commitment and determination to sprint all the way back to our goal line to block that 2nd shot! After watching the first half I was expecting substitutions to be made at half time. Disappointed they weren't. Ranieri's been so good at changing the direction of games in our favour in this manner. Passing was appalling yesterday. Felt like we were giving it away as much as we were giving it to a team mate.
eddiemar Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Look , it's one game. There are always strange results around xmas (look at arsenal last night) I do wonder if the fact we had xmas day off with no training session had anything to do with it. We have always trained the day before a game.We then travelled at 6.00pm up to Liverpool and had a light session on the morning of the game in Liverpool. The change in routine can't have been beneficial This change in routine surely cannot have been beneficial. Yes it was xmas day but it was the day before a premier league game!!....
MooseBreath Posted 27 December 2015 Posted 27 December 2015 Let's face it had Liverpool had a young Torres or Suarez up front it would have been far, far worse, thankfully they only had Benteke. Worse yes in the same way that the opposition having better players would always make things worse, but "far, far worse"? Dunno about that. It's not like we defended terribly and they weren't spurning chances all over the place. If we had a young Emile Heskey or Gary Lineker up front or Muzzy Izzet in midfield we probably win the game. But we didn't have our old superstars and they didn't have theirs.
