Lcfc_lass10 Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 Been made up with how Danny Simpson has played this season, I'm sorry but **"team performances hiding his bad performances" is bollocks isn't it. This is the premier league, weak links get found out very quickly, and he definitely doesn't look out of place this year. ** I'm obviously paraphrasing slightly Agree with this- Simpson has been excellent so far this season, can't fault him.

I'm not going to argue with you mate but you just watch him closely next time he plays, you'll see exactly what I mean.
Guest Manini Posted 3 January 2016 Posted 3 January 2016 It's not really bollocks to be honest because it's what's happening here. I'm not going to argue with you mate but you just watch him closely next time he plays, you'll see exactly what I mean. You must be seeing something completely different to what I'm seeing then. He's certainly not the best full back in the world but I can't recall him having a bad game this season. I'm all for moving on and strengthening, I agree that we do need a better RB if we are to move forward in the future but I've been more than happy with the kid so far this year.
Legend fox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Simpson never stops players getting crosses in. Very true but we do have two tanks that deal with the crosses when they get there.
foxinsox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Simpson has to play very defensively and slow down play, not least because for all his strengths Mahrez does neither. On Saturday he played very well, could have been MOTM if Kante was not playing. I am surprised at how good he is as part of our very solid back 4.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 No, he really hasnt. His bad performances have been masked by the way we as a team have been doing well this season. I'm not going to explain why he's doggo, as I've stated it many times before on here and it's been proven game after game. Plus if people actually watch him closely they'll see why he's so bad. Its a position we desperately need to strengthen. He cannot defend because defenders actually tackle - all Simpson does is back away from the bastards and it's no surprise teams attack us from that side. Tell me when he's had a bad game or even made an error this season? Hardly a surprise the clean sheets have come since him and Fuchs started. Actual full backs who's number one job is to defend. I honestly don't know what games you've been watching. He's dealt with some of the best wingers in the world this season. Fair play i didn't think he had it in him but he's proved he does.
FireFox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Very true but we do have two tanks that deal with the crosses when they get there.Remy and Benteke would like to say otherwise. Also Simpson did fuch all for the first Everton goal.

Simpson has been absolutely fine, a defensive improvement on De Laet without any question whatsoever. How long ago did he come into the team, 12/13 games ago? In the last 13 games which team has conceded the least amount of premier league goals? I'll give you a clue... us. I'm sorry, but if he was doggo that wouldn't be the case. You seem to think people attack down that side because of him... do you not think it also has something to do with other players in that area? The fact he's got Mahrez in front of him, whose covering is massively hit and miss and a slow Huth on the right side of defensive. It's without question our weakest side defensively, but suggesting it's all down to him is just ridiculous. Do we need better, yes we do. We need someone who can defend and attack, rather than one of the other. His biggest flaw is not providing any kind of attacking play.
kingcarr21 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Simpson never stops players getting crosses in. That's because he stops players cutting inside. Meaning they have to go and put crosses in which Huth and Morgan gobble up all day long. Its probably what he's been told to do.

Simpson has been a revelation this season, he's showing the form he showed when at Newcastle where he was a very competent PL player. I think we should be looking for a very talented young right back to come and compete with him but not necessarily pay a load of wedge for a proven right back as right now I don't think we need that.
AKCJ Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Tell me when he's had a bad game or even made an error this season? Hardly a surprise the clean sheets have come since him and Fuchs started. He's been good, far better than De Laet has but let's not pretend that it's not an area we should look to improve.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 We need better than Simpson and De Laet. Both (especially Simpson) is doggo so a RB is a must this window. Get this lad in. Have you actually watched us play this season? I guess you must have missed the standing ovation that he got when he came off at the weekend? Such a daft post. Simmo has been solid since he came in and I don't think it's any co-incidence that we stopped shipping goals pretty much as soon as him and Fuchs came in. Agreed that if we're serious about being a force in this league we'll need a long term replacement but to label him as "doggo" is disrespectful in the extreme.
Monsell1976 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 To call Simpson doggo is a bit harsh, he's played well for a player of his standard. The problem is de-leat and Simpson are very average players, and we need to look at improving the right back position, as for me it's our weakest position in the back 4.
Rushden fox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Ahh here is the "blast our RB" thread. I'll look else where for the Arias thread so I can here about potential new signings
Dynamogoon Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Simpson has been decent. He's deffo a premiership player. Would still like this fella in though. Would be an upgrade
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I hope we do sign a new right back who's a lot more attacking, the reason why is because it gives you a different option like for example on Saturday we needed that attacking full back out right but had to waste a sub to get it. It brings better competition for places & the players can get rotated depending on how you decide to play just like Manchester City do with Kolarov & Clichy or Sagna & Zabeltta.

shen Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I think Simpson has done alright, but no more than that really. He's made a few vital interceptions or tracked a late runner in to the box a few times, but he's also been guilty of slack marking or poor closing down at other times. Ironically, until our recent stutter, despite the criticism aimed at him regarding this, he's been trying much more to provide an attacking passing option on the right hand side which could well be down to the high confidence throughout the team. I believe the majority of the admittedly few goals we've conceded over the past dozen games have come from efforts from our right side of the penalty area, which might be a reflection of Huth/Simpson's defending. Definitely an area that needs strengthening with our growing ambitions.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 lol you want me to write you a list? Further to Babylon - yes please do. Of course we could strengthen our RB options but he's been very good this year
foxes21 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 If we want to better ourselves, Simpson and De Laet aren't up to the standard required, simply put. Yeah Simpson has done ok, but he's no Fuchs. If either of De Laet/Simpson are here next season it will be disappointing.

If either of De Laet/Simpson are here next season it will be disappointing. Harsh on De Laet. Think he's a good squad player, and don't think he ever did too much wrong. Worth noting he's very quick, so always helps if one side is getting overloaded with fast wingers. Also pretty good at helping to overload our right hand side too. Filled in alright for us at CB as well.Definitely think that we need a third option like this guy or Perreira though. Someone who has good defensive qualities AND attacking qualities, not one way or the other (I.e. Simpson and De Laet respectively).
Adster Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Yes. Can't attack. Too many mishit crosses (as shown against Bournemouth) when in attacking areas. Doesn't know how to tackle. Jockeys every bastard winger, meaning they cut in and shoot/cross. Doesn't block crosses. Uncomfortable on the ball in tight spaces. Positioning is constantly poor and expects winger to go to the man. Want me to go on, pal?
