My Nads Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Why is everyone thinking Kasper's a world class goalie all of a sudden? He's had one good game and that followed a bad game. He's always said he would only leave us for Man U, so I hope he does. I hope he does go because we need a better goalie and there are a lot of them out there. I'd make Valdes part of the deal (Newcastle have a bid turned down) and look for a couple of young goalies to battle it out to take over in 2-4 years. My only worry in all of this is if we are left with Schwarzer covering for any games! He really should retire. I wouldn't be too concerned if Hamer covered for a game or two, but not Schwarzer!

His problems are, he doesn't dominate the area, he is next to useless at corners, he punches everything even when he could easily hold on to it!! But for me his biggest problem is in situations when, we have the ball on the edge of the opponents area, we somehow end up passing it back to Kasper, who then just boots it. It's THE reason we have only 30% in most games!

Let's worry about next season in the summer but for now just sit back and enjoy the ride. Apart from the ones that we don't want or want to leave the only two that I'm keeping an eye on and crossing fingers about are Mahrez and Chilwell.

Also his kicking is probably one of his best assets, you're probably thinking of his decision making when it comes to distribution.

Butland & Lloris have been immense this season. Butland in particular and Lloris has proven over time how valuable he is. Both superb keepers who would i imagine displace Kasper quite easily if here.

Shot stopping & 1 on 1s are excellent, distribution is mixed, but his ability to deal with balls into the box is a long way from where it needs to be for him to be considered alongside De Gea, Courtois and Lloris.

Ironically the traits you criticize Kasper for are the same as De Gea's weaknesses. DDG has terrible distribution and is hardly the best at crosses either. Kasper has pretty good distribution in my opinion, his goal kick led to our goal on Saturday. He does get over excited by going for it leading to throw ins though. Crosses I'll give you!
