Sol thewall Bamba Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Sounds like a good deal for them when you put it that way mate, they make £10 million and get a younger keeper. They'd be stupid not to. I'd snap their hands off if they've actually offered 20 mil for him, as long as we can get adequate cover before the window closes.
AKCJ Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Where has this 20m figure come from? Have I just not woken up yet or it that not mentioned in the article?

I think we all would haha. My only worry is that, Ranieri seems to have an incredible amount of faith in this squad and would probably be happy with Schwarzer and Maddison. Find it incredibly odd we haven't even heard sniffs of signing a keeper.
johnny the fox Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Just a case of a rival club in champions league contention trying to destabilize our squad.. by the looks riyad it might be working..
themightyfin Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Sounds like a good deal for them when you put it that way mate, they make £10 million and get a younger keeper. They'd be stupid not to. Erm....Kasper is 29 David De Gea is 25. You had a mare
filbertstreet Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Erm....Kasper is 29 David De Gea is 25. You had a mare He was talking about Valdes not De Gea mate
Richmondfox Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 It's being reported in almost every paper that was just one link Explore in depth (171 more articles) Most of those articles link back to The Sun or The Star. I think by you adding the hypothetical 'if they offer 20m' you've given the article more legs. Of course we would accept 20m for Kasper as we would be rinsing them but they haven't and never will and Kasper would be nothing more than a back up keeper at Man Utd..
filbertway Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Erm....Kasper is 29 David De Gea is 25. You had a mare I even know he was older. Thank god you can't get negative reps on here.
ALC Fox Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 This is one transfer I could see happening. The chance to play for the club his dad was most successful at may be impossible to resist. I'm pretty sure I read that Kasper lives in Cheshire so it would make sense geographically too. If it were to happen, we have to go all out for a replacement. A top keeper makes a big difference, as demonstrated so glaringly by Arsenal. If we finish in the top 4, I don't think it would be unreasonable to say we'd have a chance at getting Butland or Forster for example.

Which is exactly why Manchester United wouldn't be looking at him. It's his name, not his ability, that gets linked. Somebody lock the thread - that's what usually happens isn't it?
David Lowe Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Not worth discussing. None of our regular starters will be leaving in January.
suffolk fox Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 I think this transfer could happen. Can't understand why everyone is dismissing it out of hand. It could quite easily happen in the summer. Kaspers dad was a united legend he will be full of admiration for his son. He was asked about this speculation on soccer am at the beginning of the season and he said not yet with a smile on his face. It is only natural if united came calling for Kasper i could see him leaving.

CharlieCharles Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Lets be honest he is not good enough for Man Utd, in fact i think we should be looking to get a better keeper in Summer. If he could sort his weaknesses out, he would be up there with the best in the prem. but personally cannot see it. Anything over 8M and i think we have got a good deal.
dylanlegend Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 He's a great shot stopper but from set pieces /corners doesn't fill me with confidence due to his height. However, his distribution is normally vital for us I think we'd miss that most from him
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Probably a sound out ploy from United with a view to a summer move / upsetting our squad unity (we are above them after all). There is no way this would be an immediate move in my mind, De Gea would have to have left for Schmeichal Jnr to really consider it I imagine. As to the other question, is Kasper up to it? I think he'd suprise a lot of our fans and rise to the challenge. He gets a lot of unwarranted stick, we could have a lot worse in goal say - Ming-low-gay, Mya-Hill Mya-ahah, Panty-mini-thong, John Ruddy Ruddy Piper, Hilarious Gomez, Un-fab-i-Wanksee to name but a few.
filbertway Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 They have 2 pretty good keepers in reserve so this really is a non-story.
foxes161 Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Not sure how he would handle it there he would just be compared to his dad
Guest Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Not sure how he would handle it there he would just be compared to his dad He'd be on the bench and only play in the FA Cup if he was lucky.
foxes21 Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 He's always saying in the media, like every interview, he doesn't want to be in his dads shadow. Surely following in his footsteps to Man Utd would contradict this? Then again he supports them doesn't he. And yeah, is Kasper even that much better then their reserve gk's?
foxes21 Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 http://www.redcafe.net/threads/kasper-schmeichel.413695/ This was their source. Hahaha
Larry_LCFC Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 Honestly don't think he is good enough to replace De Gea. Does some great stuff but still makes so many basic errors.
suffolk fox Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 God we do have some bloody idiots on this forum. Kasper is a bloody good premier league goalkeeper. If he could improve his kicking he would easily be up there with De Gea. I am glad he plays for us who do some muppets want Mignolet,Pantillimon. Ruddy, loris, no bloody thank you. As for not signing izzets brother wtf has that got to do with this topic? Morons.
Wymsey Posted 19 January 2016 Posted 19 January 2016 I'm a bit concerned about the goalkeeping situation, to be honest. Schmeichel won't be around for ever, and we have quite a poor record in 2nd goalkeepers (Logan, Hamer).
