I've just read up on it and if we got to the Champions League qualifiers we can only be drawn against clubs who never won their own leagues but are from the higher co-efficient countries. So no chance of Celtic or the Swedish or Danish champions then.

If the leagues stayed the same as they are now we'd be in the pot with:

Inter Milan

Villarreal

Borussia Monchengladbach

Angers

Porto

Dynamo Kiev

FK Rostov

Club Brugge

PSV Eindhoven

Really?

That is not the best news, but I'm sure Crouchie would get a hatful against those unknowns!

Some tough games there. I'd be hoping for Angers or Club Brugge from that list. I wouldn't want Rostov due to the sheer distance between us geographically.

We'd also be unseeded so expect one of the bigger teams...

There isn't any seeding for the qualifiers, they just keep the league winners and team who qualified without winning the leir national league separate.

If we won the Premier League we'll automatically go into Pot 1 for the league stage draw so will avoid PSG, Bayern and the Italian and spanish champions and of course all the other English teams. You'd have to fancy us to get out of that group if that was the case.

We'd run into one of the teams in bold, and that's quite daunting.

Not that simple though. If we don't win the league then this format means that we could actually end up in a group with both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid lol it would happen as well knowing us. The changing of pot 1 means you're always going to get one of Barca & Real Madrid in pot two, and you could add Atletico into that too as they're a bloody good side nowadays.

Sorted for you.

Yep, no arguments here. On second thoughts I actually think we could beat Inter. They're nothing special these days.

4th would be ideal IMO. Shite for teams like Arsenal, even if they do seem to enjoy them, but for us it's be great.

You get an unbelievably high-pressure, intense play off type feel to the qualifier. We've had some bad times in the play-offs recently but nobody can deny the winning feeling at a semi-final is one you can't replicate very often in football.

Then if we were to lose, you're compensated by 3 more great trips abroad in the Europa League. The more obscure the better. Come on FK Skënderbeu.

Assuming we happen to finish in the top 4 then let's just enjoy who ever we get, it's not as if we are going to win it, is it?

But remember 6 years ago we were lucky to attract such teams for a pre season friendly at the Walkers....

We've come a long way (baby)

My gf is from Porto and a massive Porto fan. Having seen them play (a lot), I think we would ****ing smash them too. What a day that would be in our household.  :D  :D  :D

I've been to Kiev for Euro 20102 and for the qualifier for the 2014 World Cup, so I'd fancy a trip back there

Probably a bit different now mate!

You mean that we might have to play the best sides in Europe if we qualify for the Champions League places?

Who knew?

San siro trip would be good. just buy home tickets, get into the ground. show stewards your colours and they throw you in the away end!

We're in a good position to finish in 3rd so that's the answer.

It would be a bit weird finishing 4th and not being able to celebrate properly since we're not yet in the Champions League proper.
