Guest Col city fan Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Was having a conversation in the pub last night about the amazing, meteoric rise of LCFC. The 'miracle' of course, started last season, where this time last year, we looked like playing the likes of Preston and Charlton again this season, not Man Utd and Arsenal. We then got onto the subject of winning the league this term and generally agreed this would be the biggest feat in English Football History. Based upon where we WERE, to do this would be nothing short of miraculous and even better than when Forest, for example, won the European Cup. We considered this was primarily down to money. Didn't Forest beat Malmo in one of the cups, and of course, Malmo nowadays are nowhere near the final of the Champions League. These days, money talks even more than it did back then, with the likes of Chelsea, Utd, City, Arsenal usually expected to win the Prem and Barce, Bayern, Juve, Real etc usually considered to be the big players in Europe. Anyway, discuss.....
bovril Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I think Ipswich winning the league in the 60s or Forests early 80s successes will always remain unsurpassed.
Countryfox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Yes. It would make a great film. Or musical.
Ross-Kemp Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Yeah, yeah it would. The last non big team to win the league was Blackburn & even then, they'd spent a fair whack on the squad. Look at our team, not one player has come in as a big name / big fee player from another team (I'm talking £10-15m upwards on individual players). Honestly, IF we won the league this year, I honestly wouldn't care if we were relegated next season, I'd still probably be running around doing helicopters with my dick out.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Yes, giving that it is near impossible these days to even break into that top four... we are achieving the seemingly impossible
Countryfox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Yes. It would make a great film. If they did make a film out of it who would play the part of Cambiasso ? .... it would have to be a really big star ... who do you reckon could do it Col ?

LJS Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Ipswich winning the league after promotion and Forest doing the same then adding two Euroeoan Cups are bigger achievements. I know there was less money about then but it was still a rare and impressive feat. I don't see the relevance of Forest's European Cup opponents either. So what if they're crap now; they weren't then and a European Cup is a European Cup. You could even argue it's easier to win now, format-wise. Yes, the talent is concentrated in fewer huge clubs (although the names of those clubs will change, it won't be Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich forever) but you can lose a couple or three and still progress to the last sixteen. You couldn't then. If we win the league it will be by far the greatest achievement in our own history, which is the important thing.
Countryfox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 now now......stick to the topic buddy... Sorry Col . We all know the chance of that happening is very very slim to extremely slim .... but IF it did i really couldn't think of anything bigger. And if they do make a film about JV's goal scoring record one of us wining the Prem would be a banker sequel.
FoxFossil Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 £200 a day for Film extras plus free breakfast. I'm hoping for the film, screw the league.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Keith Vaz would have to be in it of course .... playing the part of himself ... Leicesters biggest fan. I thought our biggest fan was that vote chasing chav woman from xfactor who couldn't name any of the players. Maybe she could do the sound track. She's done **** all else as far as I'm aware

HankMarvin Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I think Ipswich winning the league in the 60s or Forests early 80s successes will always remain unsurpassed. Leicester would make History, One for escaping relegation last year to potential league winners this year. If you look at the top 5 over the last 10 years its a pretty similar mix, any teams that have made the top four have spent a hell of a lot of money. This would majorly buck current trend
Bamba's Babes Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 We were favs for relegation before the season. To win the league is fecking ridiculous!
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 I'm slowly starting to believe that we can actually do it... Can you imagine going into the last game of the season needing something to win the league? I get so excited just at the thought

Vacamion Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Remember last week when we were going to finish outside the top 10???
Babylon Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 No need to compare, it's just taking something away from fantastic achievement.
