given that there isn't long left, even if we offer his buy out sum, CSKA can refuse and there isn't time to resolve it. had we offered the buy out sum last week and they refused, there would have been time to sort it out

unless this is just posturing by them to drive us up to 22.8m, then forget this I think. only 10 hours to wait !

I don't think they can refuse, can they? That's the whole point of a minimum release clause.

Classic Brinksmanship by CSKA - if you want him this window, pay the money. They are the ones holding all the cards, not us.

The release clause is part of the contract between the player and the club. For it to be activated, the player would have to insist on it. If he doesn’t do that, they’re under no obligation whatsoever to sell him.

However as others have pointed out, it’s so late now that even if we meet the release clause amount and Musa does want to join us, CSKA could probably just stall and say there wouldn’t be enough time to complete it before the deadline.

Musa is in Spain. although spain has had its problems they still have the internet and hospitals capable of doing medicals, as well as airports and airstrips and places for helicopters to land...

I know that the release clause is part of the player's contract. For it to be activated, a buying club has to offer the amount stated in the clause. At that point, the selling club has to let the player talk to the buying club. Of course, the player can refuse to talk, but the point is that his club cannot stop him once the minimum release amount has been met.

I don't think CSKA can legally stall if we offer the minimum release amount.

in an ideal world, they cant. but with only 9 hours left, if we meet the release clause now and they don't want to sell, they can easily just hide behind any number of stalling tactics which would scupper the deal. we wouldn't have any legal redress. we had a whole month to meet the valuation.

it is feasible that they do want to sell but are sending out messages to try and push as far as they can.

I dunno. Without wishing to resort to national stereotypes, I wouldn't trust a Russian club to play straight and abide by the terms of the contract if they decided they didn't want to.
