Merson: "Win the next 3 and they've won the league"

Get real mate, we'd have Barkley in all day long, and a few bad games doesn't make Stones a less attractive option than Huth or Jagielka. And Delofeou does not get into ours.

Merse is right, he's not saying that Everton are better than us, he's saying we are a better team with (most significantly) better management, but that Everton are undoubtedly better on paper. Evertons team on paper for me should be well into the top 4. They are only behind Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea for me. It highlights what a terrible job Martinez is doing.

How many Leicester players individually get into Evertons side? Mahrez, Vardy and Kante (and arguably Drinkwater) And Vardy only gets in if they change formation.

Edit: Forgot Kasper!

We only finished 6 pts behind Everton last season who finished 11th.

I've not fallen for the Stones hype, he has potential but as it stands he is not better than Huth or Morgan. Barkley would have a hard time getting into our midfield. Delefeou is probably better than Albrighton whilst Lukaku is undoubtedly better than Leo and Shinji.

Fuchs is better than Baines. Simpson and Coleman is a 50/50.

Martinez has done a wonderful job of convincing everybody his team is full of World class players when only one is a dead cert to get in our team.

Stones is only 21 which is a baby for a defender, he's probably a better passer of the ball than Huth or Morgan as well.

You've been backing us to win the league since about 2007.

something about never being wrong when it comes to football [/col]

Sensationalism at its finest but if we win the next three we are the favourites for me.

If we win the next three completely. Would take a monumental **** up to screw up a six point lead with Liverpool Spurs Arsenal Manchester city all off the fixture list, especially when you consider both city and Arsenal have pretty much all the top teams to play and have plenty of other comes to consider. We only have a miss firing Man U and know we could well have it wrapped up before we play Chelsea. But Leicester city are capable of monumental **** ups.

The major stumbling block as we ain't gonna win all three in a million years lol

He's right. It means if you can beat the next 3, then surely the rest of the fixtures gonna be like cake 4u.

but we know it doesn't work out like that!

Win the next 3 and still plenty of time to **** it up.

Odd season this season, everybody getting beat, one game at a time, try not to lose next 3, and see where the season takes us

Same for me..Liverpool is the only game that interests me.

Funny thing is I look at the other premierteams run in, but although I know who city

are playing for the rest of the season. Unlike past seasons I have held back looking at possible permatations for city.

Nearest Ive got is looking at Spurs, Arsenal, and Man.Citys next 5 games trying to guess, where I think,THEY might drop points.I have controlled myself not to do that with City.

No matter what happens from now, I am already in Dreamland they have given us a great season, I am sure they'll make top 6, but I aint demanding top 4, nor title, not with 14 games still to go.

I wouldn't put Stones in our team at the minute and I'm deadly serious. I'm sorry but look beyond the hype. He's making mistakes every single week. He's young enough to get better for sure but what is he doing that our defenders aren't?

Barkley would get in our side. He's a talent, albeit inconsistent.

We're completely different sides anyway. Play totally different ways to each other. You can't really compare the two.

i think if we win the next three and arse, manc, spuds lose all theirs...............

top ten is in the bag.

I can't get with this mindless optimism. You, sir, need to cool your jets.

More seriously...

I'd love to get at least a point off both Arsenal and Liverpool, purely so we can say we've had at least a point of every team in the top flight for a whole season. Wonder when the last time that happened was...?

Posted

If we win the next three we'll have 12 matches to go and could lose every one of them.

It's not likely but neither was our great escape last season or our rise to the league leadership this season. So the guy's talking tosh and if we're daft enough to start thinking like that we'll soon find ourselves getting turned over. .

Stones isn't good enough to wipe Morgans boots, nor are any of the Everton defenders.

As far as what Merson said.. well if we beat Arsena,. Liverpool and Man City then it would put is in a fantastic position and we would have to become favorites. I personally think the next 3 games we will have mixed results but still be top or 1 point off. then we have many winnable games.

Have not got a problem with Merse but like probably all  pundits/ex players on Sky sports take most of what they say with an almost lethal dose of salt

Posted

Now that really would be something special if we did

I've got more chance of shagging Megan Fox but still . . .

Actually, Megan was asking me if I'd got your number.

I'd take Stones, Barkley, Lukaku, Coleman, Deulofeu in our side.

Martinez is a joke. That side should be challenging for top 4, not languishing in the bottom half for the second successive season.

The bloke can't organise a defence. If we played them away ten times I'd fancy us to win at least six. They're the same every game. We can adapt and we adapt perfectly against sides that give space.
