Alf Bentley Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 There's long-term and short-term planning, but short-term decisions can have a big long-term impact. Someone like Remy might only give us 1-2 seasons, but if he helps us qualify for the Champions League, that will have a massive impact. A bit of guesswork for next season: - Qualify for Champions League: Vardy almost certainly stays, Mahrez & Kante probably stay (unless Barcelona come calling) & we are attractive to a higher calibre of signing (not to mention having a lot more cash) - Don't qualify for Champions League: Vardy might go, Mahrez & Kante probably would go (clubs offering Champions League football would make bids), we'd be less attractive to signings and would have less cash. Agree with what everyone else has said about the long-term: if we keep Vardy, Mahrez & Kante, and have signed Amartey & Gray, that's an excellent bit of building for the long-term. I'm not sure about Remy myself, but do think we need to gamble on another decent striker. If we don't and we end up missing out on Champions League football, we'll be kicking ourselves and could lose some important players in the summer. Anyone remember what style Newcastle played with Remy? I'm an old man, defective memory, you know.... I seem to remember a lot of fast breaks, more so than Chelsea, so Remy might suit our style of play more than he did Chelsea's? Chelsea do break fast sometimes, but prefer to attack in numbers, building so as to involve several midfielders in the attack
AKCJ Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Incredible that people can talk about an anti climax when we are top of the league in February. We aren't here by accident. We have a bloody good side.
DangerFox Posted 1 February 2016 Author Posted 1 February 2016 Come on City and my hope Musa! Please not Gayle!
foxes21 Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Lets face it. Our main target(s) would have been signed by now. It's been what.. Two weeks since Kramaric left? Anyone we sign today is going to be a panic buy and if that's the case, I'd rather we signed nobody.
Guest Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Are there any other free transfer prospects for after the window closes, beside Robinho, that might be worth having a look at?
KingKante Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I think we've done brilliantly to sign two players with incredible potential for under £10million. It's a big assumption but from watching videos of the players we've been strongly linked with - mainly Eder and Musa, but also Niang - it seems we were after a left-sided attacking player who would replace Albrighton as a starter, perhaps to play 4-3-3. Even if we don't sign anyone, it could be that Amartey is so impressive in training and the odd sub appearance that we go with that anyway to freshen things up a bit. We've certainly got more options now than before the window opened so it's been a success already. A decent addition up front would be a bonus. Don't think he'll want to replace albrighton on his recent form!
simon789us Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Nothing going to happen it's all gone Pete tong
Bluetintedspecs Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Morning BTS Hope you are still full of optimism this morning we hear about a quality signing soon Hi Bob I'm always full of it
RonnieTodger Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Remember when we signed Beckford on deadline day
DangerFox Posted 1 February 2016 Author Posted 1 February 2016 Remember when we signed Beckford on deadline day That was one HELL of a transfer!
Foxy_jim Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I will be worried at about 9pm if nobody has signed. Because we play with 2 uptop, 4 strikers is essential imo, 1 or 2 injuries and we are struggling.
Sampson Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I will be worried at about 9pm if nobody has signed. Because we play with 2 uptop, 4 strikers is essential imo, 1 or 2 injuries and we are struggling. Schlupp and Mahrez can play there if needs be. I'm not that worried tbh. Much rather we stick with what we've got than another Beckford-style panic buy.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I think the important thing is that we've all learned from previous transfer deadline days not to get into a right silly old lather about the whole thing
Socks Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 its always a dissapointment tbh but IF we finish in the top 4 (or even win it who knows?) we will see some really good signings I bet in the summer...exciting! its not all that bad though at least we get to perv over Natalie Sawyer and Hayley Mcqueen (hopefully later) all day Hope Hayley's cold again....
lestajigs Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 As long as we get the " **** her right in the pussy" on sky sports news tonight, I will be happy
SB87_LCFC Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Both Claudio and Top are at the KP as just seen them down there. Hopefully to sort out the business we've all been dying to hear all day!!
Socks Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 "un-named big striker" on the cards according to Rob Dorset i wonder who?
crisp packet Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Had to look for this thread . Because the names being link over the month to where we are today ....
SecretPro Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Would rather have Trevor Benjamin back that Diouf
whitwickfox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Wouldn't be dissapointed with Remy, keep him fit and he is as good as any one.
The Doctor Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Remember when we signed Beckford on deadline day Or Waghorn... We've got an awful record with deadline day strikers. Will be concerning if we don't get another striker in on the basis that one injury sticks us to scrabbling around the youth team to fill the bench slot (and given Stankevikus has left, Paniyatou has gone out on loan and I think Dodoo is out on loan as well, even that's looking a bit sparse), but two young prospects for under ten million and keeping hold of our best players is pretty good going for a January window
filbertstreet Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Doesn't your uncle make your anti climax?
Mike Oxlong Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 More climax than anti climax watching Kirsty Gallagher in that red dress on SSN
CosbehFox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 People take this transfer lark as though it's the easiest thing in the world. It's a lot more complex than that and the problem is that the coverage of it is so much more detailed. I think we've done well tbh - some would say well we are in the best situation ever but that doesn't change that we are still Leicester City and clubs will have been looking to fleece us
