Jaspa Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Wouldn't surprise me if Middlesbrough paid a loan fee for RDL, why else would he go? To get first team football and stay sharp I'd like to think, would value that over a loan fee personally We'd need him if Simpson or Amartey pick up anything, Wasils not a RB anymore

CKB Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Someone corrected me earlier and said that, even if there were recall options, they wouldn't be able to play for us again because they wouldn't be included in the squad. I'm not sure whether that's right, though it does sound faintly familiar. Hmmm God knows then, I thought RDL would stick around as he's been squad cover. But obviously Ranieri thinks we will be ok in that position with Amartey who from all accounts can play there if be
UPinCarolina Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Can't Chillwell be recalled to cover RB in an emergency too?
Jaspa Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 I'm basing my knowledge from Football Manager But I thought you can't recall a player if it's outside of the transfer window? ahh bloody 'ell you might be right. I thought players had gone on loan from Prem sides before to return later and play. If it is a registration thing though he cant be registered for us while he is up there and theres no other time to do that
chicagofox Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Well I did say decades ago he wouldn't cut it in the Prem. You said it in the 1990's?
Jaspa Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 If only we had James Pearson Assume he's doing quite well of his Eiffel Tower tour business
WesMorganGod Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 He didwell in the championship for us, he has found it difficult at times in the prem. Good luck to him
Bryn Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Think this confirms Amartey is earmarked as a right back.
STUHILL Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I hope Amartey has looked great in training then, as having just Danny as a RB is a risk. These 15 games are so important. We can't afford to be playing make-shift RB's if Danny gets an injury. I guess we have a recall option on De Laet though, if Simpson does get injured. Good luck to De Laet though. Always worked hard and was effective getting forward, but defensively always looked a bit suspect. Championship is his level.
Gerard Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 It's a 15 game season and we've lost De Laet, Benalouane & Kramaric and replaced them with Amartey & Gray. We're no weaker than we were a month a go, we've loaned out players who were arguably the three least likely to break in the first team.
Alf Bentley Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 As a sentimental sod, I'm sorry to see Richie go. I'm sure it's a good decision for all parties, presuming that Amartey can cover for Simpson and that the deal includes a recall option, but it should be recognised that Richie has been a good servant to the club over 4 seasons. It does make me laugh that so many are sad to see Benalouane go but are happy to wave De Laet off without a second thought. I mean, I know that "Benny" seems a nice chap, has a lovely baldy head and sends a mean tweet but he joined the club for millions and has played a handful of games over half a season. De Laet, meanwhile, has made 100+ appearances for us over 3.5 seasons and was a regular in our Championship-winning team and the team that consolidated our Premier League place last season. Maybe he'll be back in blue, but more likely he'll move on in the summer, I presume - particularly if we do qualify for the Champions League. Fair enough, at times he has struggled to make the jump up in quality but has certainly not disgraced himself at this level and could easily yet make it as a Premier League regular - maybe in a side that plays 3 centre-backs and wing-backs. Good luck for the future, Richie - and thanks for the past, if you do move on in the summer.

bluebeau Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Best wishes to RDL. He always put in a decent shift for City. He will do a good job for Boro' & joining up with his old team mate Nuge!
UPinCarolina Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Does anyone know what our registered 25 man is right now?
Nod.E Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Fantastic news.Hate watching him play as he continually forgets where he or the ball is. Can't imagine many players past and present having a lower IQ than him.And his tattoo is fvcking aids.
